Currently I'm....

Currently....I’m trying not to freak out over the fact that a bee is in the house. It keeps trying to dive bomb me and I’m protecting myself with a broom—hold on, while I was writing this, the damn thing tried to attack me again. I’m all, “Shoo shoo!” while swinging my broom and the bee seems to be AMUSED by this…

Currently....I’m not amused that we’ve already had some snow fall. Didn’t summer just end? And how are bees still alive?

Currently....I’m a little embarrassed on having to fib to the cashier at Wal-Mart. She noticed all the food I was buying and was all, “Oh, are you going to a party?” and before I could think, I blurted, “No, a wedding actually.” It’s because I have the Pam and Jim wedding (from The Office) in my head. I can’t wait to watch it tonight. I mean, I guess technically I’m going to a wedding…sort of…but anyhow, the cashier believed me and went, “How wonderful!” and I went, “Yes! It is!” Here’s some of what I bought...and I wish I could say I bought those Monster Cakes purely for the kids but I got excited over the blue icing…and those apple pies are Tom's "pie things" that he's obsessed with. Whenever I go to Wal-Mart I MUST pick up his pie things.

Currently...I’m thinking that Natalie will never potty train. I’m trying, I really am. But the little minx refuses to go in the toilet. Oh, but the second she goes in her diaper she wants the thing off. So I say, “If this bothers you, just use the potty!” and she’s all, “No thanks.” Of course the other day she teased me and said she had to pee and went to the potty…and I thought, “Here it comes! Her first pee!” but then all she did was fart at it and run off.

Currently....wondering where all my Reeses Peanut Cups have gone. Oh right, my stomach..

Currently....wishing I could finish my book. It’s the sequel to The Deep End of the Ocean. It’s called No Time To Wave Goodbye. Very good so far.

Currently....I really want to take away the toy piano from Natalie. It’s giving me a headache. I keep having fantasies about hurling it out the window. I know music is supposed to mold a child's brain and all that jazz but holy crap, can't music be QUIETER?

Currently....I’m aching to go on this cruise. (It’s a Titanic cruise if clicking on a link is not your thing.) But it’s expensive. Like $4000 per person expensive. Maybe even more because when I checked the site, all the “cheap” rooms are already sold out. However, I’ve always been interested in the Titanic. Even before Leonardo DiCaprio shouted that he was king of the world. I have to go on this cruise. Maybe they’d let me sleep in the closet? I crunched the numbers and I went, “Tom! I figured out how we can go on the cruise!” and he went, “How?” and I said, “We just won’t be able to eat for a year…” and he gave me a Look. Then I went, “Why can’t your uncle be George Clooney?” and he replied, “EXCUSE me?” and I explained, “If your uncle were George Clooney, he’d probably buy us tickets as a Christmas present. This stinks.” Then I was all, “Maybe I could be a maid on the ship and some rich guy will save me and sweep me in his arms---” and Tom cut in with, “You do realize that you’re married, right?” Right. I know. I was just, you know, fantasizing. But yeah. I really need to go on this cruise. I even told Tom that he didn’t have to come, therefore it would only be my fare and he was all, “Um, I’m not about to let my wife wander alone on a cruise ship that sank in 1912.” Then Tom went, “Wait, on the site it says that it’s an English cruise with English food.” And he made a face because when we were in England for three years, we weren’t quite impressed with the food. The Yorkshire Pudding really freaked Tom out. But who cares about EATING, this could totally be our delayed honeymoon! We never got one.

And...it's not until April 2012 and you can pay off a portion every year. So maybe...maybe? (Would still be easier if Tom's uncle were George Clooney though.)

  1. I sympathize with the potty training...it's just torturous.

Your little noisemaker sure is cute, though.

And I laughed about you lying to the cashier!

  2. Wow, snow already would freak me out. I'm not ready for that!!!
I love your "I'm currently..." thread. Can I borrow it? I'll give you full credit with a link and everything :-)

  3. Not only would it be easier if Tom's uncle was George Clooney, but it would be awesomER too!

You only live once. Figure out a way to get your tush on that boat!

  4. That cruise does look like fun...

    And get this...

"Complimentary tea and coffee during the day and early evening
    at selected venues!!"

If you figure the price of Starbucks coffee (say $5 a cup) you can make the cruise pay for itself by drinking 800 cups!

:) And just think, someone would be mopping up after your piano playing piddler while you were gone too!

  7. I have a pillow atop a hamper in the laundry room that just got peed on by a two year old yesterday. A two year old who removed her diaper in order to pee on the pillow. Sigh.

If your husband's uncle were George Clooney, you'd totally get to hang out with Brad Pitt and Matt Damon. Just another plus.

  8. Bees freak me out. Bad bees.

I seem to have given up potty-training my son. Eh, he'll learn on his own eventually, right? I mean, it's not like he's going to go to high school in a diaper.

And that's a lot of snow already!

  9. The Titanic had a 2500 guest capacity while the Balmoral has about 1300. No wonder they are selling out. Looks like the Cunard line is not tempting fate either. I'm sure it will be fabulous. The smaller the ship, though, the more you will feel those waves, even with stablizers. We had a local restaurant( in Mi. ) that did a Titanic New Year's Eve with the same menu and asked for formal attire. I wanted to do that and didn't. Maybe Oprah will step up for you. Dream your biggest dream she says.

  12. I didn't know that there was a sequel to that book. Now I have to read it too.

That blue frosting would have lured me in too!

  13. I'm having potty struggles myself. They are the worst.

I'm assume they're decide before starting kindergarden that they are done with diapers? Right? Please....

    Good luck with the bee.

  14. Ohmygosh I HATE bees! Seriously, I will run away, arms flailing and screaming like a little kid. I'm so scared of them that I can't get close enough to kill them unless I have some Raid or whatever that shoots them from like 20 feet away. Then I can't get close enough to pick up the carcasses... I leave that to my husband. I know, I have issues...

  15. Sucks to be you... no wait, we are suppose to have snow this weekend. Sucks to be us.

We have that same piano, it has a microphone too, right?! That just adds to the 'fun'.

I can't wait for the wedding too ;)

  16. LMAO, you're totally right, you are going to a wedding tonight at the Office!! :) hehe. I'm going too! I'm so excited to see it, its going to be awesome! I've been watching them since the show started, flirting, breaking up, then getting together, then not, and now they're fiinnnallly tying the knot!

  19. We've had a damn piano with THE SAME BATTERIES since 2001.

The only solution is to run it over with your husband's truck.

  20. Bees don't stand a chance against a dyson! ... with the hose and extension all the way out, and that little pointy long extension on as well :)

  21. My oldest son is obsessed with all things Titanic. He would freak out if he knew about this cruise. Heck, he'd probably try to get a job shoveling all the snow that will fall this winter around the neighborhood, except I don't want to even think about snow!

What I will think about is those soft cookies you have pictured up there. They make my teeth hurt like hell, but sometimes you have to live by the rule that it hurts so good!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Seriously, why do they make the volume so loud on kid's toys?! My daughter wouldn't use the potty either and I finally told her I was not buying anymore diapers. Every day I would show her how many were left and when we finally ran out... she peed on the potty and we never had a problem. Unreal. Good luck!

  23. Currently I am counting down the minutes until said wedding!!

  24. Saw your comment at another blog and wanted to stop by and say hi... I saw "writer" in your name. I'm a writer too.

Snow already? Wow. We are JUST now seeing lower temps here in CA. Up until about two weeks ago, it was 100 degrees still! :)

  29. I once left my 2 year old in the car with the bee that flew in...
In the middle of a street.

But it wasn't a really busy street.

  30. Oh my gosh, it took forever to get the 3 year old I nanny for to potty train. Finally M&M's did the trick.

  31. I had no idea there was a sequel to that book! I can't wait to get it!

and I love the Wal-mart story...why do they have to ask questions, just scan the damn stuff and let me outa here!

  34. Oh thank god i'm not the only person who fantasizes about sending toys flying through the air...makes me feel a tad bit normal :O)

    ReplyDelete
  35. Have you ever tried spraying the bee with hairspray? It's not toxic if the spray comes back in your face, and it clogs their airholes so that they can't breathe. And besides, even bees can be a little vain!

Natalie will NOT go to kindergarten in diapers. Hang in there-- she'll be ready one day.

p.s. maybe you should put a Paypal link on your blog and your followers could pay/donate a little bit to read every post and then you would be able to go on that cruise in no time!! (hey, a girl can dream, right?)

  40. Woah. I'm sorry. All I read was BEE, because all it reminded me of is the MOTH that was trying to get me while I was washing dishes. No painful, deadly stinger... but still... same thing, right? ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  41. My second daughter was easier than the first at potty training. Couldn't you hire a little girl to come over each day and show her how the "big" girls do it? :-)

  42. Oh how I WISH my kids were playing a toy piano... One plays drums, the other bass. They insist on having 'band practice' in my front room all hours of the day. Because that's where the drum set is. I have been begging the hubs to clear out a practice area in the basement, but it's been years and I don't think it's gonna happen. I have a craft room down there that's gonna have to be sacrificed to the cause, because all of this exposure to music is making me mean.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Toys like that piano in my house mysteriously disappear during naptime and after the kids go to bed never to be seen again. It's weird.

  44. He was freaked out by yorkshire pudding but the blue monster cakes are OK? Yorkshire pudding is lush! And yes I am a Brit.
For the cruise, could you get your little musician a job entertaining the passengers? She certainly looks and sounds cute enough!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Those Blue monster cakes look good!
Titanic ship cruise would be fun-go for it!

    ReplyDelete
  46. *giggle* I thought the blue monster cakes looked a bit . . . frightening, but thats my opinion!

Wanna know an awesome mommy trick? Open up the offending toy and put tape on the inside of the speaker-holes. The thicker the tape, the less sound comes through. Child can still play and hear it, mom is MUUUUUUCH less likely to toss it out the window. Take it from someone who knows!

    ReplyDelete
  47. I HATE bees! One time I had one fly into my car, my window was cracked about two inches. It flew into my car, hit me in the forehead, and then was just sitting on my dash board. Then when I started going (This happened at a red light.) it started to dive bomb me too and I almost got into an accident because I screamed and had to move out of the way! I think that Titanic thing would be so cool, I love all things Titanic too, also before the Titanic movie. I would love to go cause it takes off on my birthday, which is why I originally got into Titanic lol. I am just scared that it will be cursed and will still sink!

    ReplyDelete
  48. I will trade your bee for my mouse or mice. Ugh, we have at least 1 mouse in the house and I'm thinking we have 2. I can't believe you already have snow.

  49. Cheetos are my favorite part of going to weddings.

  50. I may be able to help you get money for your cruise. Corban is here with me and he would like for me to buy Natalie for him to play with. I dunno why he thinks I can buy her but, that's the kind of boy his daddy is raising, I guess.

Don't worry, we do Gymboree here, too.
