It’s no secret that I love buying clothes for my children.
So every once in awhile I’ll be posting an entry on an outfit that they are wearing. It’ll mainly be my daughter seeing as my son does this when I ask him to pose for the camera:
I took the following photos on Father’s Day. Natalie is sporting an outfit from Gymboree’s Citrus Cutie line.
“Hey Natalie, how about we take some photos!”
Hmm. Not entirely thrilled there.
“It’ll be fun!”
Natalie doesn’t believe me. Just as most of America doesn’t believe a word BP says.
“Can’t you give me a smile?”
This is what she offered.
I started to do a silly dance and BEHOLD....
....but within a few seconds she was all, “Not funny anymore. You know what I want.”
What she wanted was for me to run into the side of the house.
Yes, I run into my home to get my kid to laugh.
But hey, it worked.
While doing it a neighborhood kid came over to see if Tommy could play.
“Tommy’s Mom,” she said, aghast. “What are you doing?”
“It makes Natalie laugh,” I offered and then BAM, side of the house against my cheek.
The kid mulled this over and then said, “My Mom just asks me to say cheese.”
Well fiddle-dee-dee.
After she was gone I had Tom come out to take photos with Natalie.
Tom doesn’t like to pose for the camera.
“Want me to run into the house for you?” I asked.
“I’ll pass,” Tom responded.
“By golly, I love my Daddy in his Chuck Norris shirt.”
Should I be insulted that she instantly smiles when Daddy is holding her? If I ask her to smile I have to smack into the house and risk getting a bruise.
She’s going to miss him when he’s in Korea…

You have such beautiful children!
ReplyDeleteAdorable outfit! bummer about korea.
ReplyDeleteAwww so cute. I have to risk bodily harm as well if I want my daughter to smile...
ReplyDeleteThey are such gorgeous kids! And very well-dressed, too. :)
ReplyDeleteToo cute! Evie hates smiling for the camera these days too. Heck, she won't even look at it anymore. PS: where did Tom get his shirt? The Chuck Norris jokes are a huge hit in my house & my hubby would love one!
ReplyDeleteI can't decide if Tom's sunglasses are frightening or badass.
ReplyDeleteI'm leaning toward badass.
And if I could get away with wearing a skirt like that, I definitely would.
At least you got a smile when you danced, though?
ReplyDeleteyears from now Tom is going to wish he took off those sunglasses!!
ReplyDeleteYour kids are adorable! My husband has a Chuck Norris Tee too!
ReplyDeletenatalie is so cute.. and great pix of the two of them together too!
ReplyDeleteI really think you don't love your children enough. Or else you would have Natalie in kiddie pageants, running around like a prostitute on stage.
ReplyDeleteso, what I am saying, is that she is beautiful.
Love the shirt with the tutu! The things we do to make our children laugh... my daughter likes me to be dramatic and pretend to pass out...
ReplyDeleteAww those were precious pics.
ReplyDeleteOh! But when you get a good shot--it's magic! What an absolute doll!
ReplyDeleteOh, the kids are adorable even when they won't cooperate.
ReplyDeleteI like how your husband is holding her on one arm. Cute!
ReplyDeleteI love "summer fruit" clothes for girls! Sweet!!
Yeah, its going to be a long year without her "hero" around.
ReplyDeleteThank you Natalie (who will never get that year back) and Amber and Tommy and of course Tom, for your sacrifice so that the USA is the land of the free.
LMAO @ you running into the side of the house to make her laugh.
ReplyDeleteShe's a beauty.
LOVE the pictures....the color, all of it. And I'm so glad she is all daddys', too.
ReplyDeleteCute pictures. You get an A for effort here. What we won't do for the sake of the blogs.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh. Your kids are beautiful! Great pictures.
ReplyDeleteShe certainly will and so will her mommy! Thank you for the sacrifices you make for the rest of us!
ReplyDeleteMy son wears Check Norris shirts too! Kinda scary!
She is going to miss him terribly as all of you are. I love the yellow tutu. So cute. Almost makes me want a girl. Almost.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous child! I love the tutus and want one for my daughter.
ReplyDeleteI am getting a kick out of how Tom has the exact same expression in all three photos :)
she is just too darn cute for words. I have to ask though, how do you get her hair so neat. My poor daughter looks like we combed her hair with a blender. I'm worried people will think I don't love her!
ReplyDeleteShe's just getting her fill while she can!
ReplyDeleteRunning into the side of the house? I'll have to remember that one.
ReplyDeleteGoodness your daughter is a stunning little girl! And that outfit? I want it for my girls now!!
ReplyDeleteThe physical pain of others is ALWAYS funny. It's proof we've evolved from apes. She's adorable, though.
ReplyDeleteShe is so beautiful. I LOVE that outfit!
ReplyDeleteI still think you should have tried running into the side of the house and snapped a photo of Tom's expression. Gotta do something to get a smile on Daddy's face, too!
ReplyDeleteMy husband refuses to take off his sunglasses for pictures. It drives me crazy.
ReplyDeleteNatalie's tutu/skirt is beyond adorable.
Such beautiful babies! I hate the damned deployment for a year. When Alex went, I was depressed for the whole time before he left. We'd just wake up in the early hours, look at each other and say "Oh My God! A year!" Sucks, Amber. Still, Baby, it's what they do.
ReplyDeleteSigh... she sure will. She looks like a real Daddy's girl.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like she got her I-don't-smile-for-Mommy-look from Daddy!
ReplyDeleteI love her outfit, it's adorable! Here's what I hate about Gymboree though, all the cute tops are always in white! My kids can't wear white:( They are somehow attracted to chocolate and paint!
Natalie is just so beautiful. You should get her into modeling. :)
ReplyDeleteawww your daughter is so adorable!
ReplyDeleteis it bad that in my late twenties I really just want a tutu like natalie's?
ReplyDeleteAwww. I was looking at those pictures thinking "She's going to have to run into the house."
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous of how good Natalie's hair always looks.
ReplyDeleteI love my mother, but she couldn't do my hair and it used to make me pitch a wild-ass tantrum.
Also, I'm very amused that Tom could easily be a cardboard cutout in all three of these photos. He looks the EXACT SAME. That's a gift.
I hope that Natalie finds something else quick to amuse her or else Mommy might knock the sense out of herself one of these times! :)
ReplyDeleteDoes Tom think he's incognito with those sunglasses on? Nice try, but it's a no go.
She is about the most beautiful thing ever, and these companies should be paying you to put their clothes on that gorgeous girl!!! *So* sweet with her daddy! (And my younger daughter will only make faces at the camera right now too!)
ReplyDeleteYeah, I can relate. You should see the things I do to make my grandson laugh! Yikes!
ReplyDeleteShe's still super-darling, though! --and it's a great outfit!
Chuck Norris didn't read this blog- this blog wrote itself for Chuck Norris.
ReplyDeleteThat dress is adorable and she really should be modeling professionally for these kids' clothing companies ... so cute! I think you should have Natalie take a picture of you running into the house so we can all see what it takes to make her smile like that!!! Great picture with her Daddy!
ReplyDeleteVery cute kids! Now that my boys are older I find it more and more difficult to get them to pose for pics. Usually they just tell me to hurry up!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful little girl. I love those tutus.
ReplyDeleteThe end made me tear. I'm a big Daddy's Girl...still...and I'm almost 33.
stopping by from Shells! LOL its so funny that you are running into the house to get her to smile, however she does have a beautiful smile.. totally worth it!!
ReplyDeleteyour kids a beautiful!
ReplyDeleteDaddys seem to have that effect on their little girls. Your children are beautiful, and very well dressed!
ReplyDeleteSTopping by from Things I can't say. Good luck to your husband while he is in Korea and good luck to you, particularly with evil screwdrivers.
ReplyDeleteAnd i think running into the house to make that little girl smile is worth it.
LisaDay
So much cuteness going on! And that Chuck shirt! I totally need to find one of those for my 70-year-old mom. She *hearts* Chuck. ;)
ReplyDeleteVery sweet pictures :) Natalie is a doll!
ReplyDeleteYour children are beautiful and that sweet little girl is simply adorable even when she isn't smiling!
ReplyDeleteStopped over from Shell's, congrats on being the BFF of the week!
She is such a cutie pie! Now what in the world was it that you had to do to get her to smile?
ReplyDeleteOh wait... I thought you had to run into the house, like run inside the house to go get something. I wasn't taking you for real when you said in you ran INTO the house... as in the SIDE of the house!
ReplyDeleteShe's so cute! Even the the pics were she isn't smiling are cute.
ReplyDeleteThese are awesome!
ReplyDeleteI burst out laughing because I noticed that Tom didn't move a muscle. NOT A ONE twitch in all those pictres with Natalie in different positions!
ReplyDeleteLove the outfit, and your pics are always so pretty! One thing confuses me... how do you run into the house and recover enough to focus while she's still laughing at you??!
ReplyDeleteShe really does act like Daddie's squeeze.
ReplyDeleteAwww you will all miss him for sure!
ReplyDeleteawe!!!
ReplyDeletewow she is so beautiful! please realize i do not say that lightly since I think my daughters are the most beautiful children ever, and if i tell other people their kids are beautiful it would be disingenuous, 'cause I know that no other kid out there could ever come close to my kids' own lovliness. But yes- your daughter is lovely too! there, I said it. PS chuck norris rocks!
ReplyDeletebeautiful children!
ReplyDeletebut i must insist on finding out where the Things you need to know about chuck norris shirt came from?
my husband was CN for Halloween last year. It was sickening scary look a like. I posted them on my blog a few weeks ago!
