Like A Melted Reeses Peanut Butter Cup...

The Melting Pot.

I know I gush about it a lot.

But I can’t help it.

The place is amazing.

So I was glad when I got to eat there when I was visiting my best friend Jennifer. We got to go alone, no kids, and it was fantastic.

I would not bring kids to The Melting Pot. For starters, there is a gigantic burner in the middle of the table. And plus, the place just doesn’t scream children. It screams quiet drinky time for adults.

Or maybe just quiet time if you don’t drink.

Jennifer and I ordered a drink though. I had been curious on what some of them tasted like.

I can’t remember what Jennifer ordered but I got some berry mojito that tasted strongly of vodka. I could barely drink it all. I prefer the sweet drinks, I admit that. I’ve never been one for doing shots.

Our first course came. The cheese. We had a male waiter and come to think of it, whenever I go to The Melting Pot I’ve usually always had a guy. He was polite and asked us the usual question as he mixed up our cheese: what did we do, what brought us in here (“the cheese! The chocolate!” I answered), and were we married (“why, you interested? I could use a guy friend who knows how to make cheese fondue.”)

We had our meat and veggie course next and Jennifer decided to try a mushroom just to make sure she still didn’t like them.

She still doesn’t like mushrooms.

I decided to play with my mushroom. (I don’t like them either. Weirdly, my husband, who is incredibly picky likes mushrooms. He’ll eat fungus, but not pot roast.)

And then came the best part.

The chocolate course!

We got the chocolate peanut butter one. It was like a giant melted Reeses Peanut Butter cup. In short? Heaven.

It was Jennifer’s first time at The Melting Pot.

Did she approve?

Why, yes she did!

  2. Mushrooms are, in fact, what Satan serves at his dinner parties. And he starts the evening out with plates of olives.

Never been to the Melting Pot, but am dying to go. Unfortunately, we're on more of an Applebee's budget currently. . .

  3. ANywhere that serves cheese and chocolate has to be worth a look...

  4. I got the chocolate peanut butter dessert fondue my first time at the Melting Pot, OMG I was in HEAVEN!!!!!

We didn't know how long a meal would take and we had to skip the entree art. Nick had the gall to suggest skipping dessert.

With fondue fork in hand I calmly told him that we would NOT be skipping dessert under no circumstance. I had not waited forever to finally come there just to skip the best part!!

I got my dessert :) I enjoyed every second of it too :)

  5. MMMM Melting pot!! I like the cheese and the chocolate courses. I can leave the in between stuff behind. Takes too long to cook, and it is basically boiled meat and veggies. Ew! So I just stick to the first and the last. Love the pic of the mushroom with the little face LOL!

  8. i am SO glad the nearest melting pot is an hour away from me..otherwise i'd probably be there eating those desserts (mainly the oreo covered marshmallows...that i then proceed to drown in MORE chocolate) all the time. wait....i am failing to see what would be bad about that? hmmmm....maybe i should move.

  13. 1) Mushrooms are disgusting and it's no wonder I'm allergic to penicillin.

    2) Was your waiter in NC? If he knows how to mix cheese properly, could you send him my way?

    3) Your hair looks like shiny amber waves of grain in these pictures.

    God bless America.

  39. Oh my God. I ADORE mushrooms. How can you not? It's like everything wonderful in heaven all rolled into one piece of fungus that's grown out of manure... Delicious!

Try an apple martini. I love their apple martinis. I do believe I posted a picture on my own blog with an apple martini from the Melting Pot, once upon a time...

  40. As a vegetarian, I will tell you that I get all shroomed out. They are freaking EVERYWHERE and for some reason, restaurants think they're the only reasonable protein sub. Now cheese...I can't believe I'm not permanently constipated from all the cheese I consume.

  41. OMG! I love the Melting Pot. My husband will go with me but he calls it a "Chick Place". I don't care. Just more fondue for me.

  49. The dessert concept is nice, but if I'm paying that much money I expect somebody else to do the cooking.
Let me see, I thingk I still have an old fondue pot from the 70's kicking around someplace . . .

  50. Great photos. You both look so happy. And the food...eh, I want to be there.

  52. We have a place called the Fondue Pot or something like that.

It was "ok" although I would rather just do the cheese and/or chocolate.

I didn't like doing the entire oil/meat/vegetables, etc. I felt like I need a good, deep facial to get all the grease off of me. LOL

I read about a place where they busted a bunch of outdoor concert goers for drugs/drinking...someone also had made a batch of CHOCOLATE WITH PSYCHEDELIC MUSHROOMS for that "warm fuzzy "high" feeling."

  53. Oh yum! That's going to be my next girls night out!

  54. Isn't the Melting Pot the greatest place EVER?! My hubs and I LOVE it with all that we are! It's sad that we tell the waiters right off, "we know exactly what we want, you don't need to give us the schpeal". I think the waiters appreciate that we have the menu memorized.

  55. YUM! I love the melting pot!! I too enjoy my drinks on the sweeter side, next time you are there order the love martini. Delish!
