Hey, It's Okay Tuesday!

I got this idea from Glamour magazine. They have a section called Hey, It’s Okay and will list a bunch of things to be okay about. You're welcome to join in and do something like this on your diary. Doesn't have to be on a Tuesday either.

-----------------------------

To not be a very good present wrapper. I try, I really do, but when I’m done it looks as though a child has wrapped the present.

To be aching to try the new hot chocolate blast from Sonic. I tried to order it, but the machine was broken.

To hate when Santa has an obvious fake beard.

To love the crust from Sbarro’s pizzas.

To not get the point of fruit cake. Yuck.

To think it’s ridiculous that all these reality stars get book deals and here I (and I’m sure many others) am busting my butt of trying to get a book published while all they have to do is curse, flash their crotch and start fights while screaming the f-word a lot.

To never be able to keep a gingerbread house standing upright. I’ve tried to make one every year and it always falls apart on me. I’m going to try to keep it together when I make one this weekend.

To love devilled eggs. I could eat the whole plate.

To think it’s cool that my Grandma has Skype.

To not be sure about the Kindle. A lot of people suggested it to me on this post…and I like the idea, because it means I wouldn’t have tons of books. But I sort of like flipping through an actual book. I like smelling the newness of books (is that weird?) Maybe when I’m older I’ll look into the Kindle....

To wonder if a contestant is going to have a heart attack on stage one day on The Price Is Right. Because holy crap, some people freak out when they are picked. I’d be happy too, don’t get me wrong, but I wouldn’t flap my arms like I was about to take off for flight for over five minutes.

  1. I wrap like a child as well but I don't really try very hard and I'm usually drunk LOL

  2. I know what you mean about Kindle...there is something very cathartic about holding a book and turning its pages...
And yeah, I think I'd much rather read a book you've written as opposed to ANY of those reality stars...when did the american public lose its taste for entertainment???

  3. I use too much tape like a child or shoudlI say the same as I did when I was a child.

I hate making deviled eggs and make deviled egg salad instead because it's easier, but when other people make deviled eggs I eat the all up.

I have been told to get a kindle too but I starte at a computer screen all day and that books smell is the best you are nto weird I even like my old books smells.

Happy Tuesday and it is okay!

  4. I am a shitty present wrapper too. I try and try and it is always crooked or wrinkled. How did my mom do it???

  5. The whole celebrity thing makes me so mad.

  6. Oh how I LOVE deviled eggs too. I pretty much have NO control over myself when they are around.

Oh, those stupid stupid reality TV people and their book deals. What's more maddening than them getting the deals is....people buying their worthless drivel. Sometimes I have to really question the stupidity level of the American Public.

I've never done a gingerbread house, but I'm quite sure it'd be a hot mess if I did. Good luck with yours this weekend.

  7. Totally agree with you about the Kindle thing. You would miss out on the whole "new book" experience.

I tried the cookie blast thing from Sonic the other day and it did not disappoint. I want to try the hot chocolate one too.

    I heart Sonic.

  8. I'd be an arm flapper on any game show and a squealer too I'm sure. And I totally know what you mean about deviled eggs I LOVE them!

  9. I was in the bookstore the other day and read the first two chapters of Hilary Duff's book Elixer and wanted to cry. How does that stuff get published?! Sigh.
I wish my Grandma had Skype!

  10. Who wraps a present?

That's why they give you a bag at the store along with your receipt.

  11. 1. I put presents in simple brown envelopes and put stickers on them. ^^

    2. Try making tinier "gingerbread" houses. Like the ones in these pictures: http://www.chefkoch.de/rezepte/564291154763953/Hexenhaus-aus-Butterkeksen.html (That chunk in the middle is called "domino", is only sold around christmas and consists of cake, jelly and marchpane, covered in chocolate. May be substituted by any other kind of chocolate-y chunk.)

  12. Deviled eggs is the appetizer that keeps on giving.

  13. *I am a terrible present wrapper.
*The fake beard thing ... awful! We're lucky because the man who plays our Santa in our neighborhood grows a real white beard!
    *Fruit cake = disgusting!
*I'm sure it is absolutely frustrating to see them publishing their books. Who wants to read about Snookie anyway?! Not me!

  14. 1. I was in desperate need of some "Its okay Tuesday".. I've been away from blog world, and I need this! :)

    2. Agree with you on the book deal! I would totaly read your book before many others!

    3. I want to be on the price is right!

    4. I want a kindle, but at the same time.... I really love books! I love holding them in my hands. folding over pages that I want to save... ahhh the newness smell! I know it:) I love it!

    5. Are you sure you're not my sons mother? He is a deviled egg fa-reak! I love them too, but I usually squish out half the deviled part.. and aidyn gladly eats it! :)

    Have a great tuesday lovely!

  15. I'm a little worried about how much of a stalker I'll sound like if I tell you how many of these fit me, too.

  16. I generally do pretty well wrapping gifts, but I take a *long* time to get there. This year, I'm starting a new tradition...reusable gift bags. I'm buying fabric in a few different colors/patterns today and I'll just zip some seams in to make bags. A little ribbon, and viola! Festive gift bag. No more wrapping!!!

  17. I love wrapping presents. If I had the time, they would all look like they were professionally done...but since I don't, they end up looking like a 5 year old wrapped them. I always wait until the last minute.

I dont' get fruit cake either...but I also don't get deviled eggs! :P

    ReplyDelete
  18. I don't get deviled egss either. Can we take out that yolk filling and put in something good....like chicken salad, or maybe a tiny little pizza?

    ReplyDelete
  19. I wasn't sure I'd like the kindle either, but I received it for my birthday and I absolutely love it. I know I'll still buy physical books, but this is just so easy to take with you and you always have options for what to read!

    ReplyDelete
  20. I can't wrap presents either. Everyone always knows which ones were wrapped by me. As soon as this kid is born I'm going to start blaming it on him. Gift bags are my savior!

    ReplyDelete
  21. I can't wrap presents either. Which is why I love gift bags. I also hate fruit cake, but my mom loves it. YUCK

    ReplyDelete
  22. I too like the feel of a book, but I sit in front of a computer all day and a Kindle is just too much like reading more stuff for work.
    Sorry, I like fruit cake.

    ReplyDelete
  23. If liking the smell of new books is weird, I don't want to be normal.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I like the tactile experience of reading a real book too!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I agree on the publishing part and the deviled eggs!

I thought I was the same way about books, but I got a nook in May and LOVE it. I'm not completely swearing off "real" books, but it's nice to be able to read a 1000+ page book without difficulty. I love it!

    ReplyDelete
  26. The top 3...I am soo there with you! I like getting anew book too and I like the way they look on a book shelf! You can't lend someone your kindle either the way you can a book...because then you lent them your entire library! I can't make a gingerbread house straight either. You have to stand there forever waiting for the icing to dry and then the darn roof pieces are heavy and slide! :)

    ReplyDelete
  27. I agree with you on the Kindle... I just don't think it would be the same experience without a book in hand.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I LOVE deviled eggs!!!
My mom felt the same way about the Kindle -- then she got the Nook which is Barnes & Nobles version -- she LOVES it. I'm still on the fence, guess I'll have to borrow it. =)
I'm a grown lady and LOATHE when Santa has a fake beard! really people include a LITTLE effort

    ReplyDelete
  29. I think my oldest is getting a Kindle for Christmas from her aunt (over the top a little I know) but anyway.... those are the same reasons she gave for not being sure she wants one... but in the end she will love it. (I hope)

    ReplyDelete
  30. Say NO to Kindle. I am! I love the smell and the feel of books.

    Love your Tuesdays!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Yay to the deviled eggs, nay to the fruit cake!

    ReplyDelete
  32. So if you want your book published have you flashed your crotch at anyone?

That might be the problem. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  33. i give up on the gift wrapping. my mother-in-law used to own a florist and bringing wrapped presents into her house to give is sorta like inviting paula deen over for a dinner of bologna sandwiches.

    ReplyDelete
  34. By the way, about the Santa and fake beard thing ...... Shall I send you the bad news by a separate email or something?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Maybe drop the f-bomb? Nah, that's a bad idea.

    And, the fake beard, seriously!

I've been using an ereader, and I'm okay with the pages, in fact, it really does seem like pages in a book when you are looking at it.

But, I say the same about fruit cake as the deviled eggs..yuck!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Great list!

I always think "this is the year I'm going to do a great job wrapping presents.." and then I never do. I just don't have the patience to go slow and do it right.

    ReplyDelete
  37. But, to be fair, have you actually tried cursing, flashing yourr crotch and start fights while screaming the f-word?

    ReplyDelete
  38. uh.. hot choc. blast from sonic = pretty awesome perfection in a cup!!!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I can't get the gingerbread construction thing either!

I always tear off the crust of every pizza and eat it right after I eat the triangle tip!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Deviled eggs...sigh...I LOVE deviled eggs. I have a tendency to lord over the plate of them when they come out at holiday meals. The few I get are never enough.

Also, I will never, ever understand The Price is Right. Ever. People tell me the games are easy, but all the screaming and audience gestures confuse me and I miss out on the rules. The Showccase Showdown is just a long, babbling bit of chaos to me.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I am not a good present wrapper, and I think that is just fine!

    ReplyDelete
  42. I'm not sure about the kindle, I mean curling up on the sofa with a kindle just wouldn't be the same as an actual book.

    ReplyDelete
  43. As for the present wrapping and the Kindle, I am the same on both counts!

    ReplyDelete
  44. I never thought I would love the Kindle, but I do. Got it for my birthday (had no clue I was getting it) and have fallen IN LOVE. It is so wonderful to have so many books at my fingertips whenever I want them (like drs appts, gymnastics class, when the hubs is snoring & I'm wide awake).

    Also, deviled eggs = heaven.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I would much rather read a book that you wrote than say....Snooki or any of those other reality stars. Someday, never give up because I think you're a very talented writer.

    ReplyDelete
  46. lol Guess its time to flash your lady bits.

I wanted a Kindle. And then I just got the new droid X. And there is a Kindle app for it!! I was so excited I probably flapped my arms.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Now I'm craving deviled eggs...

    ReplyDelete
  48. your grandma is definitely the coolest grandma around!

    ReplyDelete
  49. OMG! Deviled eggs! I could totally eat over a dozen eggs if they're evil. I don't understand how something on this planet can be SO GOOD!

    ReplyDelete
  50. I suck at wrapping presents, which is why I am a big proponent of the gift bag!

Also, I was one of the people that suggested the Kindle, but I've felt my books staring me down ever since. I suggested it for efficiency's sake, but all my books are judging me.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Oh the fake beard Santas are horrible! I love your It's Ok Tuesday's. The best!!

    ReplyDelete
  52. After all of your cool comments, all I can think about now is a deviled egg. Darn it, I may have to make some!
