Hey, It's Okay Tuesday!

I got this idea from Glamour magazine. They have a section called Hey, It’s Okay and will list a bunch of things to be okay about. You're welcome to join in and do something like this on your diary. Doesn't have to be on a Tuesday either.

----------------------

To think Martha Stewart is a little crazy. I don’t want to make a basket out of sticks or candles out of leaves, thanks.

To not understand why the media keeps saying that Kate Middleton led a regular life. Um, her parents are millionaires. That’s not regular to me. Regular would be a middle class family who couldn’t afford to send their kids to private schools. I get she’s still a commoner but she definitely isn’t “regular” to me.

To love sucking on minty things. (Cue inappropriate joke here.)

To really enjoy Army Wives even though military life isn’t really like that. I wouldn’t be able to traipse around constantly with the general’s wife with my husband being a Staff Sergeant. I mean, I COULD, but it really wouldn’t be appropriate.

To love watching ghost shows even though they tend to freak me out.

To want to say, “Heavenly Father wants you to shut your trap and keep it in your pants,” if Bill Henrickson (from Big Love—a show about polygamists) were my husband. (And no, I haven’t seen the final season, I don’t have HBO but yes, I know what happens because I’m too impatient for the DVDs to come out next year and looked it up online..)

To love the site damnyouautocorrect.com—I almost fell out of my chair once from laughing so hard.

To not enjoy the new judges on American Idol. They need to change the show to Overly Friendly Judges or See Jennifer Lopez Cry. Although I am rooting for the dude who has both Aspergers and Tourettes.

To have finally gotten some Thin Mints on Saturday. They are almost all gone today.

To keep my nine-year-old son in a booster seat and not allow him to sit up front until he’s 13. He gets to drop the booster seat when he’s ten but it’s safer for him to be in one seeing as he’s only 52 pounds.

To really need to make a meme (that’s what it’s called, right?) for Hey, It’s Okay Tuesday. I’ll have to pay someone to do that, I suck at HTML. I’ve been known to cry and curse if I try to figure it out on my own.

  1. I have something minty I'd like to show you. *rim shot*

Seriously though, sounds like Tommy should have been the one eating the Thin Mints. 52 lbs?! Geez. Feed the kid already!

  2. The latest season of Big Love was all sort of "meh" until a few episodes ago when it suddenly got all "WHOA!" and turned into the Big Love of three seasons ago. Awesome!

I also love ghost shows although I'm not at all sure I believe in ghosts.

Also, Damnyouautocorrect regularly has me guffawing loudly and manically. There are just some most unfortunate substitutions going on that I'm delighted. :)

  3. Totally with you on Martha Stewart! Does the woman NEVER sleep???

  4. i'm not about some martha stewart - she's like a robot. I paid someone to do my fat ass friday button. but i have to generate my own linky code and paste it to my post each week. which isn't at all hard.

  5. I LOVE damnyouautocorrect -- it makes me happy and gets me out of my funky moods =)

  6. I love the ghost shows too, but I don't get freaked at by them!

    I'm all brave! LOL

  7. Tuesday!!!

I bought a box of Thin Mints outside the grocery and I have to ask, did they change the formula or something? I did not enjoy them as much as my mouth had anticipated.

Martha Stewart has many employees to help her appear so fabulous, always remember that, last time I looked, I was a Staff of one.

  8. I don't watch Army Wives, but the spouse organizations here for flight crew is both enlisted and officers wives. The squadron commander's wife goes to most of the activities... and she does think she's in charge.

I miss Simon on Idol, but since I'm an Aerosmith fan, I love how crazy Steven Tyler is. There's an article on Yahoo today about James Durban (the guy the aspergers and tourettes).

  9. I can't watch ghost shows or any thing that might freak me out - shoot i can barely watch the news.

  10. I'm gonna have to check out that website.

I'm the same way with the ghost shows. I can't stop watching them but then I go around all paranoid and jumpy for days.

Martha Stewart creeps me out a little bit.

  11. TOTALLY rooting for James Durbin...and Paul McDonald. Both are tops in my book!

    ReplyDelete
  12. Definitely make a meme so I can link to you! And I too think Martha Stewart is nuts {I mean really crap out of more crap? Don't mind if I don't.} And Kate? So not regular.

    ReplyDelete
  13. It's Okay Tuesday would make an AWESOME meme!

And you wouldn't have to pay someone to set up the linkys, either. It's easy. And you can still do it for free (LinkyTools requires a yearly subscription) with a little research.

It's okay to suck at HTML. There are enough people who are GREAT at HTML who are willing to share with us less than stellar peeps!

  14. Totally love the ghost shows specially when they say "kill Zach" or something like that!

  15. Oh my gosh! This reminds me that I have Thin Mints in the house!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Thank you for the website! The whole office is cracking up now!

  17. great list today...
and oh james durbin... i do love him from idol.. my post is actually about it today!!

  18. I love damnyouautotext.com, my husband and I laughed the other night until we hurt.

  19. I haven't seen Big Love. My daughter and I just watched Sister Wives on TLC the other day. Ugh. The guy's first wife's mother is married to his dad (no, thank God, they are not brother and sister on top of everything else). My daughter just kept saying they're whacked and it's so gross. Good girl! Hang onto those thoughts.

On Idol, is James the one with Aspergers and Tourettes? I was wondering about the faces he sometimes makes. He is really good! I like him and Scotty McCreedy.

  20. I kept Christen in a booster seat all the way up to her 6th grade year in school. And she was finally able to ride in front with me in 7th grade. I don't blame you a bit!

I'm so not a fan of AI...

    ReplyDelete
  21. Yes, you should make this a meme! :)

Most designers will make you a button for $5.

    ReplyDelete
  22. O.M.G. THIN MINTS! *swoons* I wish you liked to cook, because I have this amazing recipe for cookies that you'd love...

    ReplyDelete
  23. My parents are obsessed with Big Love. This frightens me.

I bought 2 boxes of Thin Mints Saturday afternoon. They were gone by Saturday night. I shared a couple with the kids. But only because I am so saint-like and generous.

    ReplyDelete
  24. We're all out of Thin Mints here but my dealer, er, the troop leader lives next door and they have a stockpile available to buy.

    ReplyDelete
  25. OH don't get me started on American Idol. It so sucks now with Simon gone. I haven't been able to watch it all this year. Instead I've gotten back into Survivor, and that's a sad state of affairs.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Martha Stewart creeps me out! Just listening to her gives m the heebie jeebies

    ReplyDelete
  27. Do the meme thing!! I love posting my list every Tuesday, and I know I've seen others do it as well!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Martha Stewart is a bit crazy. I'm convinced her goal in life is to make woman feel inadequate. Who has time for all that crap?

    ReplyDelete
  29. oh my lord- your 9 year old weighs half as much as my 9 yr old. he's a monster! already buying his shoes in the grown up department. sigh.
and your Tues post is getting popular- get on the ball and make a meme! (or whatever it's called).

    ReplyDelete
  30. I just visited damnyouautocorrect.com. What a funny site. I see they are having a book giveaway. And yes, it's a really good idea to keep Tommy in a booster seat until he's bigger. Well, not all the time...you know what I mean. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  31. My son will be in boosters and in the back seat until he's 12 I think. My boy is in the 3rd centile and everybody always thinks he's 5, and not 7. They also think my kids are twins because his sister, who IS 5, is nearly the same height and weight.

I stopped watching American Idol a few series ago. Ditto Big Love. :)

    ReplyDelete
  32. This should be a meme. Definitely.

Martha is absolutely a nut job.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I haven't really watched Big Love in over a year...I really need to catch up. Bill always, always, ALWAYS annoyed the crap out of me though. Maybe it's stemming from the fact that I hated Bill Paxton in Aliens. STILL. "GAME OVER MANNNNN."

    ReplyDelete
  34. I have one of those tiny kids too- he's 8 and 45 pounds- your timing is funny because I honestly haven't thought twice about his booster seat, but my father was questioning me the other day about why he was still using it. I told him he'd probably be using it until he was 12 at the rate he is going.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I forgot to respond to this post because I got preoccupied with damnyouautocorrect for the past 30 minutes.

    ReplyDelete
  36. that damnyouautocorrect is the funniest freaking thing i've read in ages! holy crap, thank you!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Damn You AutoCorrect once had me laughing so hard that I was doing the silent laugh with tears streaming from my eyes, then I made that wheezing noise. Attractive, right? My husband thought I was choking.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Yes I'd hardly describe Kate Middleton's upbringing as regular. Unless you call living in one of the most expensive areas of London, shopping in designer stores and attending the most expensive schools in England "regular", then okay I suppose she did!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I love the ghost shows too and yes I get freaked out by them!

In MN the law is age 8 for booster seats. My son is going to out grow me soon and he's only 8 1/2. We have he same size feet now and he's 92 pounds. And almost as tall as me.
    I wish he'd slow down!

What does MEME stand for? I know what you're talking about, but I don't know why its called that.

    I LOVE Army Wives!

    ReplyDelete
  40. what's a meme?

is is some link I'll have to put in cause I'm terrible at those. the buttons...every freaking website in the world has and I cut and paste and never can find it on my site. those? sigh...that'll make me sad.

    here's mine - http://parentplanet.info/?p=2106

  41. and omg I love damnyouautocorrect. I cry it makes me laugh so hard. I sent some to a friend and he said he thinks they are made up. even if they are that's funny stuff. and my sister was all "what does lmfao mean" when I told her not to read it around her kids.

    ReplyDelete
  42. My 'Hey it's okay' is that I don't know what a meme is. . . and that I'm too lazy to research it right now.

Damn You Auto Correct is brilliant--my other faves: awkwardfamilyphotos.com and regretsy.com. I think you might especially love the crafts gone wrong on Regretsy. . .

    ReplyDelete
  43. Hmn... I'd love to join your meme for its's okay tuesday :)

    have a great day ahead

    ReplyDelete
  44. I'm with you on the booster seat thing. My boy is seven and about 55 lbs so I am happy for him to stay there until the lap sash doesn't appear as if it is going to decapitate him on impact.

Must get back to work. Thanks for the diversion.

    ReplyDelete
  45. As for meme ;) go to knowyourmeme.com and you can upload your own picture and make it say your own thing :P

  47. The Samoa and shortbread ones ar emy weakness.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Thin Mints almost gone??? I usually demolish a box within 24 hours. You are doing great at pacing yourself! lol

    ReplyDelete
  49. I love ghost shows, too, cuz I totally think ghosts are real.

Interesting fact: I refuse to watch scary movies because they terrify me.

    I'm all mixed up!

    ReplyDelete
  50. I'm rooting for the Tourettes/Asperger guy too. He is really awesome. And I would totally join your meme thing because I love "Its OK Tues" at your site. Also dyac.com is genious - I totally go there when I need a laugh. And alsoalso, My husband almost cried at the ending of Big Love -- and he didn't even cry at the birth of his children. Sheesh.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I would totally join your meme! and I just wasted SO much time at damnyouautocorrect. But SO FUNNY! Thanks for sharing it!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Loved reading your list! I agree, Kate Middleton did not grow up "normal!"

And Martha Stewart has a humongous staff! I wonder how much of the stuff she actually comes up with herself at this point :D

And I've got to try Thin Mints too :D

Found your blog through a SITSter, I hope you drop by mine too!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Thanks you SOOO much for introducing me to damnyouautocorrect.com! It's hilarious and makes my evening relaxing time so much more entertaining :-)

    ReplyDelete
  54. I really like this idea and may have to use it! Maybe on a different day. Like Mondays. I hate Mondays.
