Here Come The Movers

As most people are aware, we’re moving.

To Oklahoma.

Have I mentioned the movers are coming the 8th?

As in this Wednesday?

No?

Well, they are.

Coming THIS WEDNESDAY.

It all started when a woman from the moving company came to our house to record all the stuff we had.

I’ve mentioned before that I’m a bit of a pack rat, right?

She walked through our house writing our items on her notebook. I think her eyes bugged out of head a little bit when she saw the garage. Full of plastic bins. Of clothes. And, you know, high school stuff.

“I think it’s going to take two days to move you guys out,” she admitted before she left.

Two days?

The phone rang a couple hours later. It was the moving company informing us that it would take THREE days to move us. They went over the list of items we had and it seemed like a lot.

“So we’ll be coming out the 8th, 9th, and the 10th.”

I dropped the phone and screamed after I heard that.

Well.

Not really.

I wanted to though. See, I had been planning for them to come out on the 10th and only the 10th.

We’ve been running around trying to get everything ready for the movers.

I might not be on the blog as much but I will update on Twitter at WhisperAmber. You can read all about when I hyperventilate.

I also have this fear that the movers will steal our stuff. I hear horror stories about movers doing that.

If they do, mark my words, I will write a blog entry ranting about the moving company.

Please let the move go smoothly. Please let the movers not steal our stuff.

Please let me not lose my mind.

  1. Good luck, you can do it, and all those positive affirmations! As much as I hope the movers don't steal your stuff, I'd kinda like to read that blog entry, heh.

  2. Moving is kind of great cause it forces us to go through all of our stuff. How's that for being positive? :-)

  5. moving blows goats but starting a new life is awesome! Best of luck with everything and just think you are going to be neighbors with the great state of Texas!!! Woot Woot! We can be I-35 blog friends now.

I've hired movers more times than I can count and moved from coast to coast more times than I Singleton should, and I can assure you that if movers steal stuff, its stupid crap that is easily replaceable. And I always figured if they needed my plastic salad spinner and S/P shakers that bad, they could have them. Just as long as they don't steal your panties and bras!

  7. I think you'll be fine with the movers. We had to move 4 times in less than 2 years (thanks, USAF pilot training) and we have never had anything that was missing. We have had movers arrive and then leave because they said they didn't bring a big enough truck, but it worked out. Good luck with the move!

  9. I hoard onto clothes too. I'm always worried that something will come back in style and heaven forbid that I have to buy another pair of Doc Martens when I already own a pair...hello, Kurt Cobain calling for his shoes back.
    Best wishes!!

  10. You can do this. Just pull out toothbrushes, favorite pillows/toys, toilet paper, some clothes and PJ's and you'll be set. Good luck!!!

  23. Good luck with everything! I'll keep my fingers crossed about the movers!

I totally relate about having way too much stuff! I've gone back to Home Depot twice already, for more tape, more boxes, more bubble wrap, and everyone at work has been saving me boxes and bubble wrap too! It doesn't seem like all that much stuff until its piled up in the living room, or you find out it'll take three days to move it!

  27. Would it make you feel any better to know that if we had to move....it would take about two months? It will all go ok. Just breathe.

  37. How the FRACK are you blogging the two days before you move?? That's insanely impressive, woman. I have trouble if I have to pick up the laundry and blog in the same day.
