Hey, It's Okay Tuesday!

I got this idea from Glamour magazine. They have a section called Hey, It’s Okay and will list a bunch of things to be okay about. You're welcome to join in and do something like this on your diary. Doesn't have to be on a Tuesday either.

----------------------

To sing, “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” by The Rolling Stones when my kids start to whine about wanting all sorts of things. This bugs them greatly.

To be disturbed over the new show on Lifetime called Dance Moms.

To hope Logan’s Roadhouse is good. I’m trying it out for the first time this week.

To think it’s ridiculous that Kim Kardashian is suing Old Navy for that commercial they aired with her lookalike in it. She claims they used her brand without asking. Or something like that. Apparently you can’t look like Kim or else it’s using her brand.

To be saddened that Amy Winehouse died but wish more people would focus on what happened in Norway. What happened to them is worse. And yes, there are military troops who die daily who unfortunately won’t get the same recognition.

To love that the new Target I shop at has a Starbucks in it. Even though I don’t drink coffee, I still love the smell. And the non-coffee beverages. Oh, and muffins.

To really hate cooking dinner every night. I’m always like, “Ugh, what should I make today?”

To appreciate all the comments in the My New Home post. It is the nicest base housing I’ve been in. It probably helps that it’s privatized, meaning a company runs it, not the base.

To hope Natalie likes her first gymnastics class. She starts Monday. I figured since she likes jumping and rolling all over the floor, why not do it in a class.

  1. I had to chuckle at making dinner every night I have the same problem.

I laughed at the beetles song and the kids that is funny.

  2. I'll have to try singing that song to my kids next time. Logan's Roadhouse is yummy! My boyfriend and I love that place.

  3. I think Kim is only suing because the Kim look-alike girl is dating her ex. Or, I just like to make things more dramatic than they are. It makes up for knowing all this useless celebrity crap.

  4. I totally feel the same way about Winehouse-Norway. And yes, thank you for making me not be the only one who does not want to cook dinner AGAIN! ;-)

  5. I hope Natalie enjoys her class so much she is really tired (but not to the point of whiny) when she gets home!!

  6. I have a menu I try to stick to every night for supper. Then we aren't scrambling.

I think it's great you are putting Natalie in gymnastics.

And hooray for Target & Starbucks together!

  7. Totally agree about the Norway comment. I don't get why it's not being talked about.

  8. Logan's is very good!!

Love their bread.. and love their loaded sweet potatoes.

And I'm going to call me a lawyer right now and sue Amanda Seyfried for having my face!! Sounds fun to me... Crazy Kim K!

  9. I sing The Rolling Stones song too! LOL

  10. We are so much alike. I hate making dinner every night. That show Dance Mom is totally scary stuff. I totally agree about Amy Winehouse dieing being sad but I also think there should be more focus on Norway and our troops.

  11. Totally agree with the Amy Winehouse comment. Norway...almost 100 people died and facebook and twitter are silent. Amy Winehouse dies and they light up like a Christmas tree. Disappointing. And I'm super lame and didn't comment on your house post, but it's beautiful. :) Love the plants out front. I, too, have a knack for killing plants. Nom nom starbucks muffins....and scones.

  12. We sing the Rolling Stone song to our whiney kids too.

  13. We love Logan's! But Texas Roadhouse is our all time favorite because of the great buns and cinnamon whipped butter! Yummo!

  14. I completely agree about the Amy Winehouse comment. I had a bunch of people comment on her death on FB but only three people either say something about the horrors in Norway.

  15. Try making a weekly schedule of meals on Saturday or Sunday for the upcoming week! That way you know what you're making and you know you have everything for it! And you'll wind up wasting A LOT less food that way too!

I grilled steaks for dinner tonight. Does that help?? *smile*

  16. Logan's is pretty good. It's similar to Texas Roadhouse. I like Texas Roadhouse a little better, but Logan's also has yummy rolls:)

    ReplyDelete
  17. wow,
    never tried logan's!
i like it.. oh yea! and they have the BEST rolls too..
    yikes!! now i'm hungry!!

  18. I.Hate.Cooking.

Logans just opened here in my town. I'm giving it about a month before I go. I think it's the steakhouse that lets you throw the peanut hulls on the floor.

  19. We don't have Logan's around here, but went to one in Alabama two years ago. YUMMY! The dinner rolls are to die for. My husband liked them so much my friend had the waiter bring a whole new basket of them right before we left so he could take them home....of course he does that with the garlic-cheddar bisquits at Red Lobster, too. I've got my It's Okay Tuesday list up, too.

  20. Logan's is pretty good, but I prefer Texas Roadhouse.
I did not know that Kim was suing. I'm sure it's something her mom is making her do. Some mothers.
I hate cooking dinner every night!! But I have to. Sigh.
I wish ALL Target's were Super Targets and had Starbuck's inside.
    Good luck Natalie ;-)

  21. Thanks for doing this. I love this idea.
Logan's is pretty good. We go there for lunch sometimes.
I bet Natalie will love gymnastics.

  22. I'm committing the first one to memory for when my son gets older!

Good luck at Natalie's gymnastics class. I always wanted to be a gymnast!

  23. I was just sitting at my desk wondering what I'm going to make for dinner. I like to cook but hate cooking for my picky kids!

I also sing that song to my kids and ditto on everything else today too! (Now, if you'd please exit my head, it's a very small space and it's getting crowded in there.)

    ReplyDelete
  24. Agreed! Except that I love coffee to drink and the smell :) Hope Natalie enjoys her class!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Holy crud! I just saw that Dance Moms-- I was mortified.. I couldn't turn it off, but I was mortified!!
**And Jerk Face and I sing The Stones to LB :) (among other songs.. Janis Joplin's 'Cry Baby' is also a good one)

  26. I know, the Kim Kardashian thing is so stupid.. and she's suing for something outrageous like 25 million! Like she needs 25 million, and all because they used a girl who looks like her? Maybe she should sue her sisters everytime they are in commercials too, since they look like her too. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  27. Great post. Loved every one of them. I've been to Logans once and had the best steak salad ever! I don't know about the rest of the menu but I'm sure it's good. Hooray for you on the Amy Winehouse thing. It's shouldn't take precedence of an act of terror.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I totally stress about dinner time too. Ugh! And as for Kim K suing Old Navy? Yeah, pretty ridiculous.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Wow! A lot of people sing that song. I feel so unoriginal now. Oh well. Nothing new. LOL Loved this post! I am right there with you for most of those. Makes me feel better to feel ok about them. Thanks! To add one? Hrrmmm.... It is ok to occassionally buy a little something just for myself. I struggle with that a lot. Ask NotBlessedMama. I am last on the shopping list for anything. I'm a mess. LOL

  30. I hate the nightly dinner question, too. And sometimes I'm really glad we don't get all the shows that air in the US... Dance Moms sounds scary from what I've heard about it!!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Logans is really good! I actually used to work there!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Love your house. I just checked out the pictures! Looks awesome!
Targets with starbucks are the best.....we have one too that I shop at.
And the Steak N Shake sounds like a super great place to go!

  33. I was excited reading yesterday's paper to see Oklahoma listed as the hottest place in the country at 111f, replacing the standards of Southern California or Nevada. Thanks for taking the heat. It's OK

  34. We have Logan's Roadhouse here & it kinda weirds me out to be honest. I don't like that you throw your peanut shells ON THE FLOOR. That is just disgusting to me. I can't eat there. lol

    ReplyDelete
  35. My dad used to sing that song for the exact same reasons. It drove me crazy. Ha. And I think throwing the peanut shells on the floor at Logan's is the fun part! Plus, the food's pretty good. Since I'm tired of cooking every night, too, maybe we should go to our Logan's. We haven't been in a while.

I hope Natalie loves her new gymnastics class!

  36. I heart your blog! Haven't stopped by in a while so I wanted to come say hi! =)

  37. I'm the same with dinner myself. and Targets without Starbucks? blasphemy

    ReplyDelete
  38. Love and agree with all these, especially the comment about Kim Kardashian...

  39. Lots of things moms (and dads) do bug their kids greatly. I think it's part of being a parent. Or is it? Or have my parents been lying to me?

Dance Moms is horrendous. I would never allow that lady near me nor anyone I know...what a effing bitch...she really needs to be fired. Argh.

Logan's is pretty good. Ours is right next to Outback, Texas Roadhouse, and Chiles (I think there's an Applebees there too). What can I say? We Texans like our steak. (I think I can claim to be Texan....)

People with money should not be suing anyone. That's stupid. You have money already. Get over it.

Amy Winehouse died. Many more people died. People knew her name. With everyone else it was just like oh, those people in Norway...it was so distant. I don't think the severity of it was grasped. A LOT of people died there. MUCH MORE EPIC than a singer who joined the 27 club.

I thought all Targets had Starbucks until I walked into one that was built...I don't know, a long time ago...then I was stunned to find they also didn't have a pharmacy. I was shocked by the smallness of the store and computers. I guess I'm spoilt, living by a Target that was built more recently.

Mom cooks dinner. Yay! When I move out, it will be...umm...stuff out of boxes. Because I really can't cook. My dad wanted to pull the fire extinguisher out of its box the last time I tried.

I didn't comment *ashamed look* I've been busy closing out the semester assignments.

I always wanted to be in gymnastics, I had a friend that was and loved it. I hope Natalie loves it. I'll never understand why mom didn't want me doing physical activities *looks down at possibly sprained ankle from crossing street that has not been seen by doctor because it has been too many times*

  40. Great song to sing to your kids when they whine.

I didn't hear about Kim suing Old Navy but that is just crazy.

    ReplyDelete
  41. My target has a star bucks in it too. It's one of my favorite places.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Awsome list! Yes, I also will be singing that to my kids. They are not so apprecitive of my musical gifts, but I'm sure they'll appreciate me more over time. :)

And, dinner is not my friend either.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Haha! My mom sang that song to us a lot...especially at dinner time. Ah, memories.

Yeah, I had no clue who Amy Winehouse was, but I know where Norway is. My heart just completely breaks for them.

  44. I just watched that Dance Moms show last night. Wow. Those chicks are even crazier than the Toddlers & Tiaras moms. I used to be a dance mom- hope I wasn't this bad.

  45. You'll love Logan's - if you like all-American hamburger/steak/salad/free bread kind of places :). Oh, and Kim K is ridiculous - I could rant - but I won't. Love your "It's Okay Tuesdays"!

  46. I have a suggestion for the nightly "what do I fix for dinner" routine--E-mealz. http://e-mealz.com/ It is awesome! Pick a store and type of meals (family, low fat, whatever) and then you get the week's meals and the shopping list! Voila!!!! And my hubby and I love the meals--well most of them! ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  47. Is it okay that I haven't dropped by your blog in a while? I enjoyed this post. I remember loving the smell of coffee long before enjoying its taste... Now, I cannot imagine a morning without several cups.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I bet she is gonna L O V E her gymnastics classes! T does - it's like her favorite thing in the universe. She never get's tired of going.

And I'm glad that I'm not the only mother out there who torments her little ones with the Rolling Stones!
