Heels

I have to wear these for the vow renewal.

Some people are probably like, "Yeah. So?"

To which I reply, "I CAN'T WALK VERY WELL IN HEELS!"

Seriously. I teeter back and forth.

During my high school prom, I recall losing my balance and going flying into a wall. (People probably thought I was drunk.)

Let's not forget I'll also be wearing a wedding dress that's not exactly light. So combine heels+a slightly heavy dress and you might get a collapsed Amber.

If this happens, at least it'll be an amusing memory.

Still.

Note to self: on the chance I might fall over, make sure I'm wearing cute undies in case my dress somehow flips up.

Also, another note to self: practice walking around in heels before the vow renewal on Saturday. I'll be like those girls on the MTV show Made who are clumsy and awkward and suddenly decide, "Hey. I'd like to be a beauty queen!" so their coach makes them walk in heels the entire day.

Yeah.

That'll be me.

  1. I gave up wearing heels years ago, so I feel your pain! good luck. I just stopped by from SITS to say hello. Hope you have time to return the visit.

  2. Let's hope if you do fall, a video doesn't find its way onto YouTube.

  4. wear them while you vacuum!! serious! i remember my prim & proper grandma telling me when i was about 5 or 6 that the right walk in the right heels could fix anything.
i suppose i just had to believe her. and sometimes, it's actually true. others, my feet are bloody and swollen and nothing was fixed haha.

  5. love them!

I mastered heels when someone showed me the "model walk" -- one foot placed directly in front of the other. kinda like this crossover thing. If you saw your footprints..it would be a straight line; not side by side.
when I see it on the catwalk, I think, yeah right....but, it worked.

  8. There's old women here in the South who clean house in them daily...
You can do it! Practice for the rest of the week. You will be fabulous.

  9. I wanna see pics! No, not of you falling on your tush, but of you and your beloved in your fancy outfits. Good luck, and yes...practice in those heels!

  11. Those are adorable and totally worth the broken ankle you're sure to have. ;)

  12. Practice, practice, practice! I wore heals to the ceremony but changed into white Chuck Taylors for the reception. The dress was long. No one knew.

  13. I like the look of heels, but they kill my feet. I instantly regret my decision to wear heels as soon as I get too far from home to turn around and change them.

  14. Vow renewal, YAY!!! Good luck with those heels. This one of the few times I can say I'm glad I'm taller than my husband. I wore the flattest of flats on my wedding!!!

  15. When I walk in heels it looks like I have a limp. I wore flats on my wedding day because I didn't want to take any chances and more importantly I wanted to be comfortable.

  16. I only wear heels on Sunday to church.

What annoys me to no end is all the cute styles of shoes but everything has a 6 inch heel. Who buys those?

I want a cute shoe with a 3 inch heel. Not too much to ask I think.

Have fun at your party, and yes cute underwear is a good idea.

  17. Congratulations on your vow renewal!

You'll be fine in the heels, practice every day and do yourself a favor, dressy shoes have slippery bottoms, buy some of these http://www.amazon.com/Non-Slip-Grip-Shoes-Boots-Sandals/dp/B0013QZ2AS You should be able to get them at Target or Walmart. I wear heels every day and these have saved my life (some shoes just don't scuff on the bottom well enough).

  20. I am exactly like you! I can fall over standing perfectly still. Clumsy, clutzy? What would you call it? I think it's an equilibrium thing. Practice is a good idea. It will all be fine though. Great post.

  23. I don't do heels either. I can't walk ok, but it's not ideal...

  24. I have to buy platforms or wedges if I'm going to wear a heel, or I'll end up walking around barefoot after about 5 minutes of stiletto pain...and you do NOT want to walk around barefoot in NYC!

Good luck with the vow renewal...I hope it turns out beautiful!

  25. It's Saturday. How exciting. Have a great time.

I would say ditch the heels. I went barefoot at my wedding.

  26. You are going to have this videotaped right? At the very least, just the part that you are walking in those heels, right? Because I think it's your duty as a blogger to provide this type of entertainment to your audience. I'm just thinking of your blog! :-)

But seriously, I'm sure everything will go smoothly. You must be very excited! Good luck!
