A Day of Surprises!

The day started out with this:

Actually, it first started out with me going, “Ugh, it’s time to wake up already?”

Then I saw that.

Gifts from Tom. And the M&Ms aren’t just regular M&Ms. He had them personalized with “one and only,” “awesome wife,” and “love you.”

(And yes! The card had WRITING in it!)

I had the chocolates for breakfast.

Plus this:

I got Tom a Belgian Waffle Maker.

When he saw it he went, “You mean you got YOURSELF a Belgian Waffle Maker?” and I went, “Come again?” because when we were staying at the hotel in Branson, it had a waffle maker that you could use for breakfast and we LOVED it.

“I expect you want ME to make you a waffle now,” Tom continued.

Oh, God. Did I get him an awful gift? DID he think that I got MYSELF a waffle maker? It wasn’t true. I swear it was because I remembered that he said how much he enjoyed the waffle maker in Branson.

“No…no…it was because you said you liked the waffle maker in Branson. I swear! I mean, yes, would I LIKE a waffle? Someday. But not today. I—” I started.

Tom laughed. “I was kidding. I love it.”

I also got him an Angry Birds hat, plus his beloved M&Ms.

So yes, he did make waffles.

Next time I’ll get fresh berries to put on top.

The kids also got stuff:

And went to school like this:

Minus the giant lollipops.

Tom ended up leaving and picking up ANOTHER gift for me.

He said when we stopped off at the flower place that it was swamped. He was smart and put in an order a couple of days prior. Some people went last minute and seemed irritated that the store was out of roses. I mean, hello?

After we dropped Natalie off at PreK, Tom took us out to lunch. I had no idea where he was taking me. It ended up being Toby Keith’s Bar and Grill, which I really enjoy. No picture, because I was starving and gobbled up my food rather unladylike.

For dinner, we ordered the heart pizza from Papa Johns which took forever. The pizza ended up arriving looking pretty sad:

I still ate it.

It ended up being a fabulous day.

How was your Valentine's Day?

Was it just another day for you? It as basically just another day for me last year since Tom was in Korea.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to the stores in search of delicious 50% off chocolates...

  1. I don't think the pizza looks sad. It looks yummy. And I am starving. And I wish I knew PApa Johns was making heart shaped pizzas!!

  2. Valentines Day was a total non-event for me.

Enjoy and treasure the love your family gives you.

  3. Your day was much better than mine hands done!! And that is why I'm off to buy more chocolate!

  4. Looks like you had a fabulous day. Those personalized M&Ms are always a hit. My husband had to work so we went out for our celebration this past Sat night but he did stop by my work with a nice card (with writing in it) and some chocolates. Yum. Have a great Wednesday!

  5. looks like you had a wonderful Valentine's Day.

  6. looks like a great day! I forgot y'all are in OK, we're moving there in about 8 weeks :)

  7. Great job by your hubby!! I'm impressed.

  8. Your hubby did an AWESOME job. Happy Valentine's Day. Mine was uneventful :-)

  9. Not anything like YOURS that's for sure! Yowser! My husband needs to take lessons from yours! He DID sign me up for receiving love poems via e-mail for the next 365 days. So that's something!

  10. A waffle maker is the gift that keeps on giving! :)

  11. It was just another day.

I'm living through you for Valentines Day. looks like your day was awesome! :o)

  12. I must be hungry, I'm swallowing my own spit looking at that pizza.

Ours was just another day--the kids all hopped up on sugar from their parties and then we shoved cold medicine at them to go to bed. Sigh.

I am glad you had a good go of it!!!

  13. Wow. Your husband did an awesome job!

  14. That pizza looks yummy! My boyfriend placed an order for my flowers last week. We are still waiting for them to arrive...I guess they will be here soon...I hope!

  15. Sounds like a fabulous Valentines Day! The heart shaped pizza is pretty funny!

    Thanks for visiting me today!

  16. Mmm that pizza still looks good to me. That's what I had last night too.
It was definitely just another day for me.

  17. Aww! I love stories like this. Valentine's Day doesn't have to be extravagent as long as you're with the person you love.

  18. Looks like you had a great Valentine's Day. It's nice to be spoiled by your hubby.
I was the only one at work to receive flowers. So I was happy for me but sad for the other wives. They need to train them better. LOL

  19. Aw, I want your Valentine's Day! Looks like you had such a lovely one, that Tom, he's a keeper!! Mine was a bit of a non event, but my friend did make awesome chocolate cake for me, so I did get something.

  20. My single Valentine's Day consisted of a card from the five year old I nanny, a bag of chips and "He's Just Not That In to You" alone on my couch in my snuggie.

I went shopping for all things Valentine's 50% off as well!!

  21. Your husband got to stay home all day?! How lucky is that.

My dad wasn't all that. I had a dentist appointment. And not just a cleaning. Ugh. :(

  22. I've tagged you in a post here:

  23. How cool are those personalised M&Ms?! Looks like you were spoiled this valentine's day.

I had pizza for dinner too. At the beach. It was divine!

  24. Sounds like a great day!
I had an amazing day! Couldn't have asked for a better one!
I completely forgot to put my son in his Valentine's day shirt until today. Luckily it's just a elephant and has the words, "I love you a ton" so he can wear it more than once!

  25. Tom is simply MARVELOUS!!! That is so sweet. My Valentine was spend tending to my poor husband who, sadly, been sick for the past 3 weeks. The kids are so cute!

  26. My wife already has a waffle maker. It's called "me." (I'm the cook in the house)

That's great that you guys were able to celebrate this year. As for us, I got my wife zombie chocolates - chocolates shaped like human heads, with red cherry brain centers. She absolutely loved them. This is the kind of oddball couple we are.

  27. sounds like a great day. very sweet filled and awesome presents.

  28. There's a Toby bar and grill here in Vegas - I didn't know he was making a chain of them. Was it good there?
