Look, I get that it’s an electronic age and that’s fine.
But whatever happened to a good old thank you card? Hand written.
I still do this and I wish more people did. For the holidays people sent my kids stuff so I had them write a thank you card. I wrote thank you cards for the things I got. But not a lot of people do this these days.
I get people are busy. So if I get a message on Facebook saying thank you then I’m cool with that. A couple of times I probably did this to people my age who might not get what a thank you card is. But to my parents and grandparents, I always, always write a handwritten card.
It’s also a shame when people never let you know if they got the gift. And then you have to go and message them and they’re like, “Oh! Yes, that came last week.” ???
I think the world would be a better place if more people wrote actual thank you cards. If you must do it online, again, at least it’s something. But really, our generation is getting lazy and rude and it makes me embarrassed for us.
So why not go out and purchase some thank you cards? They make some really cute ones these days and not overly expensive either. Instead of playing Words with Friends or browsing Facebook, write a couple of lines saying how much you appreciated the gift. And if you really didn’t like the gift, lie.
After all, everyone likes getting happy mail instead of bills or ads for how you can get larger breasts for a buck. (It’s not true. In smaller print it says that most payments are 5000-6000. So I guess for a buck you can get felt up or something and told, “Okay, your breasts suck. Allow me to improve them for 5 grand!”)
