Things That Annoy Me Thursday: CROWDS!

Crowds. Everywhere.

Someone’s armpit is dangerously close to my nose. It’s sweltering hot in Florida so I want to gag.

Disney World is a fabulous place. Or would be, if other people didn’t decide to come the same time we did.

Going to Disney World in the summer means tons and tons of people. I almost wish the kids were homeschooled so we could come during off season. That’s a slim almost. I could not have them with me all the time. I’d be bald from constantly pulling my hair out.

Still, you have to ignore the crowds. You have to plan on getting to the parks right when they open. Yes, when you first arrive, the swarms of people waiting for the gate to open is frightening. But then everyone splits apart and you find ride lines short. As in, less than 10 minutes short.

We are having a great time, despite all the people who have decided to plan their vacation when we did.

But man, I wish we were Mariah Carrey rich and could rent out the park.

  1. It looks like Na is enjoying the princesses, and being selected to participate -

  2. I was just trying to figure out a time to go that would be less crowded but wouldn't mean talking the kids out of school. I came up blanks! Hope you're having a good time despite the sweaty waiting. :)

  3. Disney World is always crowded. The trick is definitely to get there early. Crazy me. I thought it would be more crowded during the winter months when people had spring break! Sounds like you are having fun, stinky arm pits aside!

  5. I'm glad you didn't take the kids out of school to do this... Those parents that do, are encouraging truancy.

  6. I wish I could rent out the park too - that would be nice. I remember going mid-April during the school year with the marching band and it was packed. I can only imagine what it is like in the summer time. And I do believe you when you say everyone is there because everyone I know has either gone earlier this year, just got back (like Sunday), are there or will be there next week. And no one is taking me with them :o(

  7. Funny I love Chicago street crowds but the idea of Disney makes me gag. I think I just have mouse issues. Glad for you though!

  8. What's a few sweaty armpits? I'd chew my own arm off to be able to take my kids to Disneyland.

  9. Growing up we went to year round school. We had three weeks off in October when no one else did. That is when we went to Disneyland a lot of the time. It was so nice. We could walk on rides.

I just hate crowds too. I am not sure I could attempt Disneyworld in the summer. Thinking if we go it would be in the fall as they get a week off from school but I really don't know.

  10. One of my favorite things when we were stationed in California was the fact that Disneyland was 25 minutes away from our house. We used to go on the most random off season days and would pretty much get to ride every single ride on about 2 days since we'd go when there were no crowds!

  11. Ha!! It is always a good thing to visit on the off season - I hate going to the parks in the summer - the fall and early winter is perfect timing.

I'm just so glad that you are having a good time! You deserve it!

  12. Heat and crowds are tough for me. My aunt lives in Orlando and works for the theme parks and tells me to go in September or January, I think, to get the least amount of crowds. Both are times in which everyone is going back to school and work. Although now I have a preschool-aged child so...

  13. Wouldn't that be awesome to rent out the park and have it totally to yourself! If only :)
