7 Reasons Why I WON'T Be Watching The Super Bowl

The Super Bowl is Sunday.

And I really don't care.

The commercials are amusing, yes, but I'll catch a recap on YouTube.

1. Well, for starters, football bores me to tears. When it's on, I'm like this:

One time we got invited to a Super Bowl party. I assumed there would mostly be talking. And eating. But no, people actually wanted to WATCH the game.

2. The sudden shouting that people do frighten me. For instance, at the Super Bowl party I went to, men would suddenly go, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" or, "MOVE YOUR ASS!" I nearly fell off my chair each time.

3. I always want to mock the people who go, "We need to pick up the pace," or, "We need to do a better formation," as if they are personally part of the football team. We? What's this we business? Are you out there in tight pants? No?

4. Did I mention that football bores me to tears?

5. It bothers me that these players are paid millions, yet our troops who defend their country are paid horribly. And yes, I know I'm a hypocrite, because I enjoy watching movies and TV and those people are also paid millions. That also bugs me. I cannot tell you how upsetting it is to know someone like SNOOKI makes more money than our soldiers.

6. Football has interrupted my shows too many times. I HATE when a game runs long and runs into my program. If I'm recording a show, I miss part of it due to a stupid game. All games belong on ESPN.

7. Both teams that are in the Super Bowl bug me. On one side you have a guy who likes to shout, (Richard Sherman? I think?), plus that dude who was like, "I'm just here so I don't get fined," over and over like a moron, and on the other, you have a pompous ass:

It really looked like he took the press conference seriously. Nice hat.

Anyway, I was invited to a Super Bowl party and I declined. Just in case people actually planned on WATCHING the game.

  1. I absolutely love the game and the Seahawks, but I totally get where you're coming from.

  2. Haha, I think I'm the exact opposite. I live for football. I grew up with season tickets to an NFL team and even played on my school's team with all the boys! I also fall into the category of all the guys shouting and cussing about the game... oops! My husband couldn't care less about sports, though, and that kills me. He tries really hard to pretend at least!

  3. I like to eat the food, watch the commercials, and heckle the halftime show. That's about it. I'm not an NFL fan.

  4. YES to 5 & 6!! The "we" thing bothers me, too.

I thought the Marshawn Lynch interview was hysterical. He was an ass about it but I give him credit for his honesty. Apparently he hates doing media stuff and did something similar last year at press day, too.

I'm not excited for the Super Bowl at all. I'm very excited for it to be over, however.

  5. I only watch for the commercials. Football bores me too!
Idina is supposed to be singing the National Anthem, I believe.

  6. We really only watch for the commercials. Actually, my husband used to attempt to watch the game, but he gave up after a few years of me and the kids interrupting everything. And we don't care about either of the teams this year, so there's that too...

  7. Yeah, football bores me to tears too. I never watch. Not even for the commercials. I watch them later on YouTube.

  8. I used to watch the Super Bowl for the ads but I'm like you now, I'll watch the recap later (or not).

  9. I don't feel the need to watch the game super closely but we usually have it own. This year we aren't doing anything - I've been to lazy to plan - usually we have friends over.

  10. I love Heather doing the "bored" hand, and her husband's face. Cracked me up. The Seahawks are our team and we love them, so we'll be watching at my house. I totally agree with you on the salaries though - no movie star or sports person should be paid that much. Soldiers, doctors/nurses, teachers - they deserve that money.

  11. I only watch if my home team is in the game, which it is so I am going to watch. Otherwise I wouldn't bother either.

  13. I come from a long line of non-sport watchers and we are proud of it. It's not that we are not active...we farm OUTSIDE in the snow wind and rain...it just pisses us off that those people make so much money while we make about $3 an hour trying to supply burger and pork for their stupid ball parties. Hmmm, I'm not making myself look too bright am I? I wonder if at age 55 it's too late to try out for pro-shuffleboard?

  14. Dude, all of these. Especially #5. I am so totally the same.....I will not be watching the game at all and also declined the party invite. If it were more social, less screaming and caring, I would totally be interested. Instead I'm going to read a book or something. Or maybe go to Target. F the super bowl.

  15. Brady has to wear a hat to hide his freakishly tall forehead. I'm going to be forced to watch like a hostage.

  16. Ugh, I'm with you. I hate football, it's boring and a bunch of whiny bitches or thugs. They are overrated. The endless replays and debates are what gets me bored to tears mostly. Oh, and I have a special hatred of the Patriots. So there's that.

  17. Im so not an American football fan so I feel you!

  18. I wish I didn't have to watch it. But I think I have to. Apparently I'm going to a superbowl party. Blah!

  19. Those 'we' fellas are hilarious. Like their opinion has any impact on the game. :P
I'm not watching because we don't have cable & I don't want to leave home just because of a game.

  20. I agree with you 100% on all accounts

  21. I don't mind it, it will likely be background noise for me today.

  22. I've never watched a game in my life. I like the SuperBowl because it means football is over. And it means winter is half over. I just went to a party and there were people watching the game in one room, but the other two rooms were eating rooms. With really... freakin' good food. You'd have loved it!

  23. I don't watch the superbowl though I do like to bet on it. This year I didn't even bet though.
