Things That Annoy Me Thursday: Babysitter Complaints

I like my junk food.

I cannot give it up.

Sadly, I'm getting older, so that means my metabolism has been declining. So I either can A) give up my junk food or B) start working out.

I'm allergic to gyms, so I thought, okay, I'll start a walking/jogging thing. I've been doing this while the kids are in school. However, the kids are out of school now, and I can't stop eating junk food over the summer, so I decided to still do the walk/jog thing in the morning.

This means Tommy is in charge. He's 13 and it's legal for him to watch Natalie on base. I told him this, thinking he'd feel mature, but he was all, "What? I hate her though."

I went, "You don't HATE her. She'll be all you have when Dad and I croak."

Tommy scowled. "She's loud and she's always touching my things."

I grinned. "Welcome to my world! Plus, I'll be gone for about twenty minutes and I'm on base on the trails. If anything goes wrong, I have my phone. I can be back to the house in five minutes. Two if I can muster up the strength to run."

Tommy agreed.

But Natalie? When I told Natalie Tommy would be in charge of her she was like,

"Are you KIDDING me? He barely remembers to feed the cat!"

I groaned and rubbed my temples. "Natalie," I said calmly. "It's for TWENTY minutes. He won't even have to FEED you."

"I can take care of myself," Natalie grumbled.

I started to do this on Saturday so they'd get used to it. Normally I take the weekends off. Natalie gripped onto my leg and was like, "Hurry back," as if I were leaving for a week.

It went okay though. Natalie eventually let me free, and when I came back she was on the iPad and Tommy was messing around with his phone. Natalie took one look at my red face and went,

"Are you okay? Do I need to call 911?"

My face turns bright red when I walk/jog because I feel like I want to die and keel over. Another runner even asked if I was okay once. I think he was worried I was going to die and keel over.

"I'm great," I lied. Sweat was dripping off my forehead. "I see everything is okay here. Tommy took good care of you?"

Natalie shrugged. "He ignored me and I ignored him."

Okay then.

But at least I can still walk/jog and enjoy some donuts.

  6. I don't tell my boys if I leave. That way they are clued in to how much they can goof off. I tell my daughter and she keeps it under wraps! LOL

  10. I can't wait until my oldest is able to babysit his siblings. I was able to watch my sister when I was 10 if we were just home. Times have changed...

  11. HAHAHAHA allergic to gyms.....so funny. Your kids are a freaking riot. I was laughing the entire time I read this post, so thanks for that. Great start to my day.

Also, I am so far off from being able to leave my kids home alone, I found myself getting extraordinarily jealous of your kids being older than mine. #yourewinning
