Things I Don't Do When He Deploys

I did a post a while back on things I DO when Tom deploys (you can read it here) so it's fitting that I do a post on things I DON'T do.

1. Put makeup on when we Skype. In fact, most of the time I'm still in my pajamas with unbrushed hair. Once Tom called in the middle of Natalie having a meltdown a few years ago when he was in Korea. So I was like, "How are you?" followed by, "Natalie, stop it, you cannot put raisins in your Pull Up. It's GROSS!"

2. Depend on others to mow my lawn. I have hands. I can handle it. It also helps burn off the McDonalds meal I most likely had earlier.

3. Cry every day. It's not for me. I wrote a post on how I look on the positive side of things when my husband deploys. I feel it's much easier than being sad all the time.

4. Post things on Facebook like, "What am I going to do with myself?" I have my own life outside of my husband. I never understand the people who can't stand to be alone.

5. Lose weight. If anything, I probably gain weight. I do tend to eat more chocolate when he goes because I have to deal with the kids on my own.

My husband should be home soon and I'm ready for it. My DVR is ready for it too. It's at 75% full with shows I've recorded that we enjoy watching together.

Come on, Air Force. Let my husband come home!

  3. Omg thank goodness you aren't one of this woah is me, my world is ending, how can I make it alone types!! So annoying!! Since my dads stroke I always try to be positive because life is too short to be a downer. And things could always be a lot worse. Be blessed with what you have.
I know you are excited he's coming home!

  5. Aw, the special DVR shows! I'm glad he's coming back soon.
When Cassidy goes away on short trips, I DO eat a lot of ice cream and watch a lot of Hallmark movies..

  6. Mowing the grass totally burns calories. Here's to hoping he comes home before the DVR gets to 100%!

  10. Haha, I love this!! I haven't been through a deployment yet, but I love this attitude, and I agree about all of them except mowing the yard... but that's because I'm allergic to grass, so I can't do it without needing to go to the ER.

  11. I agree with the having a life outside of your husband comment! I have some friends here who want to bring their husbands to EVERYTHING and if I suggest we have a girl's night out some time, they say "oh but I like spending time with my husband", with the implication being that I don't, grr!

  12. ALL OF THIS!!!! I only cry for the first couple of days, because the loneliness settles in. But once that is over I'm gold! I can handle it! And I always answer FaceTime in my PJs I mean I don't even get ready for the day when he is home at a normal time anyway so he shouldn't expect different. It is peaceful without him here, we have a routine and we make it work. I love my husband I really do, but I also am okay with being alone with my child. I am capable of running this house by myself.

And I have a life outside of my husband. :P

  13. Yes! Totally this. Except I did lose weight, but it was completely unintentional. Apparently 2-3 hrs of barn chores 5 days a week will do that to you. /shrug
