How To Be A Creepy Clown

If this clown started chasing after you, what would you do?

If you said you'd scream and throw your shoe at it, me too!

I do not like clowns. You don't know what's going on under that makeup.

Naturally, my daughter decided she wanted to be a clown for Halloween. "A creepy one," she added, just in case she thought I'd start looking for happy clown costumes. But even the happy clowns make me nervous.

"Don't you want to be something....friendlier?" I suggested.

She shook her head firmly.

I mean, I guess I should have known this was coming. Last year she was the marionette from Five Nights At Freddy's.

We looked at Spirit Halloween, and Natalie found one she liked.

Yes, she was channeling Pennywise from It, hence the three red balloons. Have you seen the new movie? I have not. I'm a chicken. My daughter, however, wants to see it. She doesn't scare easily.

Hence the costume.

She likes to freak me out in the costume by chasing me around. I'm all, "Please don't touch me when you're dressed like that. You're frightening Mommy."

"If you come with me, you'll float too."

"No thanks, Natalie."

I might be afraid of clowns, but my daughter isn't.

Are you afraid of clowns?

  6. I don't celebrate Halloween so I don't have much to say on the subject. As for clowns, like you I don't like them either. Interestingly, i parts of our state, dressing as a clown is against the law, unless it is your profession. Certain unsavory characters, to put it mildly, have used clown gear to lure and hurt others.

    1. Yup, but luckily my daughter isn't like that :) It's not against the law here.

  7. I have always been rather indifferent towards clowns. They really don't terrify me but at the same time I'm not super excited by them as well. I'm just sort of eh about clowns I suppose. But I do love how elaborate her costume is!

  40. Honestly, I never thought about clowns being creepy until all the hype hit. I didn't know clowns were such a scary thing. I even laughed at the idea. A clown scary? How can this be? They make people laugh. But...the more I thought about and looked even at a funny clowns face I understood how a clown might appear creepy, especially to a small child. Now, I don't care too much for clowns. They don't scare me but if your daughter approached me in this get up then I'd turn quickly and run away. I'd be thinking that creepy clown might have a knife behind its back waiting to do the ole slice and dice. After all that's how things go down in many horror flicks, right? Nope, I'll stick to things like princesses, cowboys, Pooh Bear, Hello Kitty, and the likes of these to make for a happier, fun Halloween experience. Who am I kidding, I don't like Halloween much other than the candy. Everything else I can totally do without and do. Fun post!

  41. I am glad I didnt read this blog post before bed. I am creeped out clowns are scary, especially with that clown phenomenon that happened last year. I dont have a phobia of them but I sure had nightmares from movies like the Original IT an Killer Clowns from back in the day.

  42. I've never been afraid of clowns. However, kids in clown costumes DO give me the willies!

  43. Won't lie, kind of not excited that there are going to be so many clowns this Halloween. EEEK! THis clown is amazing but man, I wouldn't want to meet it.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I'm not afraid of them, but I don't care for them. Any adult hiding behind an odd mask of makeup like that is just creepy. Children being clowns aren't quite as creepy though. lol

    ReplyDelete
  45. I would sure jumped out my seat if that clown scares me. That would be cool for Halloween costume.

  48. I am not afraid of clowns and yes, Pennywise is one of my favorites! I absolutely love that Natalie likes to be creepy/scary! I think that is what Halloween is all about!

  49. This is definitely the creepiest clown make-up I've seen! I've always been afraid of clowns. I would be weak in the knees and want to run if I ran into a clown like this lurking in a dark alley.

  50. I am not afraid of clowns. Then again my whole experience with clowns was pretty positive. Only the miniseries It was creepy as a kid. My daughter has never had a positive experience with them and only freaky ones on TV. Where for some reason they are frequently the bad people. I think that has impacted her experience unfortunately.
