Easy Valentine's Day Fruit Heart

I admit, I don't do much for Valentine's Day. It doesn't seem like a serious holiday, but I do enjoy all the chocolate that comes with it. Especially when it goes 50% off the next day.

My daughter is having a classroom party, and I need to bring some things. Her school allows sweets like cupcakes and cookies. But I know some schools don't allow junk food. I find it ridiculous, because you should be able to celebrate how you wish, but I know some schools are...uppity.

If you have an uppity school, I have a solution: a fruit heart!

You can use any fruit you wish. I picked out grapes, strawberries, and blackberries.

You can make a heart on your own, but when I tried, the heart looked more like a drunk circle.

So I used a heart pan to help:

It's incredibly easy, as you see. Perfect to bring in to a Valentine's Day party, and healthy! My daughter loves it.

I sliced the strawberries to make it easier to do the outline of the heart. Next time I might try tangerine wedges!

I'm not exactly sure what I'll be doing for Valentine's Day. What will you be doing? Relaxing in sweats and watching TV? That's most likely what I'll be doing, I won't lie.

But if you're looking for a healthy snack, remember the fruit heart!

  1. That is a cute idea. We aren't allowed to send food in to the schools here, so the kids will pass out their valentines on the actual day.

  2. This would be really colorful. We no longer send food in due to so many different allergies amongst our kids but it would look great on a table for anyone entertaining.

  4. Very simple and cute and I love that it is shaped in a heart. I'd rather make this then give the kids more candy they don't need. For some reason, I always get stuck making cupcakes for kids events.
