Hey, It's Okay

I got this idea from Glamour magazine. You can link up any day of the week. All you have to do is make a list of what you're okay about. Simple! Please do not link up a post that has nothing to do with Hey, It's Okay. It's rude and I'll delete the link.

Hey, It's Okay....

.....to hope Texas stays consistently warm now. Again, I know the people on the East Coast will laugh at this, but the high was only about 55 on Saturday, and I was cold. (I mean, it had been in the 80s, so my body was confused...it needs to pick a temperature!)

....to have enjoyed seeing the Beatles Tribute Concert over the weekend with my mom and daughter. (Learn more about that here.)

....to be going to Natalie's violin recital on Thursday. It's her last one! I'm not sure if she'll continue on the violin or not. I know she picked art as her elective for middle school.

.....to also be going to Natalie's school carnival on Friday. It's a busy week, because the kids also have dentist appointments.

....to have booked our Disney Dining Reservations! We'll be eating at Bon Voyage, Be Our Guest for lunch, and Hollywood & Vine for dinner. (The rest of the time we'll just be eating quick service meals.)

....to love that Natalie enjoys reading Judy Blume books like I did at her age. Granted, she doesn't love to read as much as I do, but I'll take what I can! (I loved this book. "We must, we must, we must increase our bust!") (And it's been updated! The cover, and remember how in the book they wore pads with belts? It doesn't mention it in the book anymore. Of course I had to browse through it for memories..)

  2. The book Natalie is reading is the exact First Judy Blume book I have read and is my fave Judy Blume book. How is Natalie enjoying the book? And is she already asking questions to you about puberty etc due to the book? I was quite surprised how the book cover was updated and apparently there has been a big uproar about the way the book was updated. Check out the articles about the above. Personally I really didnt care about the issue of the book cover being updated but maybe it will be interesting to read what your thoughts about the book cover update. Are you going to encourage Natalie to read the whole Judy Blume series? I have read them all. Maybe get Natalie the whole Judy Blume book series as a belated birthday gift.

    1. I'm not a fan of this cover because the book doesn't have texting in it. At least I don't think so. I only browsed through this version. But I still love the books and I'm glad my kids read them. (Tommy read the Fudge series!)

  7. I remember those pads with belts - yikes! And I am so ready for this cold weather to go away. I also have a dental appointment this week. Yuck.

  8. Can't wait to read all about your dinner reservations at Disney. I know the food is going to be amazing. I can't wait until we start to get consistent 55 degree plus weather (60 degrees is warm to us, LOL). I'm over the cold.

  9. You guessed right. I'm on the East coast and I did laugh when I saw your comment about the weather. We went from 65 to 20 inside of 24 hours. It's been wild here!

  10. I hope it warms up here too. It's like 40! How far in advance do you get to make dining reservations? I'm supposed to get my info this week to make fast pass reservations for June!

  11. I know that feeling of being busy! We are hardly going to be home the next few weeks and yes it is OK! It is all for fun and family time!

  12. When the high in LA is about 60 degrees, I AM FREEZING! So I feel you - LOL! I am from WYOMING where highs of 50/60 are SCORCHING HOT so it's really funny that I am now such a WHIMP!

  13. I kind of got a kick out of the new cover, for a second. Then I was, wait, what? Leave texting out of the 80s! Hope she enjoys this and other Blume books. Thanks for the memory! Hope it warms up here too, and soon.

  14. Judy Blume brings me back to when my daughter had time to read but now she is older and too busy to pleasure read. I am hoping the weather looks at the calendar and complies with some warmth.

  15. Such a cute post! Judy Blume was my favorite growing up too. It inspired a lifetime of reading for me

  16. Sounds like you have an exciting family trip to Disney coming up. We enjoyed our first Disney cruise in January and had a blast!

  17. Disney! Fitting that your six-words entry has to do with Disney. I want to go down there - for spring training, though.

  18. Oh! I love this idea! I am going to write a post today! You have a very busy week. Middle school is scary for parents. Amazing how kids adapt and we... not so much.

  21. I love Judy Blume books. I tried getting my daughter into them but she didn't care for them or Beverly Cleary. I didn't read enough when I was growing up. I try to read more now but I never seem to have enough time.

  22. Judy Blume has captured the hearts and minds of youth for decades. You just can't beat great books!
I need to do another Hey It's Okay soon.

  24. Your Disney dining plans sound fun :)

  25. Disney dining plans are the best. We've done that a few times and Judy Blume should be a right of passage for every child.

  26. I love Judy Blume books too and how nice that you can share those memories with your daughter! Have fun in Disney!

  27. I loved Judy Blume books, and so did my girls when they were younger. As a matter of fact when I want my 12 year old to read something she will sometimes go and pull one off the book shelf.

  28. This book seems like a nice read up. will surely try.

  29. Good for the readire part. It's something I hoped my dadaught would like and so far she does!

  30. Violin is totally a beautiful instrument - how impressive that your daughter has learnt to play it. What kind of art class is she taking in middle school? Is it a general art class or does it focus on a certain form?

    ReplyDelete
  31. I love that Judy Blume book!!! I want to reread it now!

  32. Sigh, good old Judy Blume.
I'm so glad I'm coming with you to Disney World! (just kidding)
We haven't had warm weather yet but I look with envy at yours! We don't have spring break yet (next week) and the kids still have school until late June. MA is weird.

  33. You are so lucky with Texas weather. We are in three weeks into spring and we still have snow, ugh.

  34. Glad you guys enjoyed the concert! I'm sure you're pretty excited about Natalie's violin recital. I love how supportive you are. It's also awesome that you're introducing your favorite books to her.

  35. Hope your daughter is enjoying Judy Blume. And I hope you have an amazing Disney trip when you get there. Cool you have it already planned out. Which I had things like that planned that far out in the future.

  36. HAHA I totally feel you, if it's 75 degrees or less, we are in sweaters and shivering!!
