How High Maintenance Are You?

Years ago, when we first started dating, Tom leaned over and kissed me and was like, "Yuck. I got lipstick on my lips. And I think I got powder all over my shirt when I hugged you."

These were the days where I actually wore makeup. To, you know, impress my boyfriend. Granted, I never wore a lot. I would tap on some powder and add some lipstick and basically call it a day. I've never been high maintenance.

"You don't have to wear it, you know. The makeup," Tom said, wiping the lipstick from his lips. "I like you for you."

It was sweet. And true, because I rarely wore makeup after that. Oh sure I'd put it on for school dances, but that was basically it.

My husband, I would learn, appreciates a low maintenance girl, which works out for me, because I am super low maintenance. I found this floating around Facebook:

(And whoever made it, spelled a lot wrong. Thank you, Jenny, for pointing that out. Now it's all I see, and it's making me twitch. It's supposed to say "wears A LOT of jewelry".)

I'm not sure who created it, otherwise I'd give credit.

I got two points, because I do dye my hair thanks to the grays. But that's it.

I don't wear nail polish because of sensory issues. Plus I clean the house on a nearly daily basis, so they wouldn't be practical. (I once did a post on how pointy nails scare me.)

I can't walk properly in high heels. I stick to sneakers and flip flops.

I own about 5 pairs of shoes.

I put on eyeliner once in a while so people won't remark that I look "tired."

Who in the world shaves everyday?

My purses come from the clearance section. Or Think Geek. Check out my book purse! Better than anything Michael Kors could ever make:

I basically live in jeans and t-shirts.

My husband could not deal with a high maintenance woman. He likes to be able to leave the house within 10 minutes. He has left other family members who take forever to get ready during family reunions. He went through LAX once after a TDY, and was traumatized by all the "plastic women," as he called them.

I have had friends who are high maintenance and there's nothing wrong with it. It's just not me.

I'm happy to be in my low maintenance corner, stuffing my face with carbs that so many other women forgo. I'll take them. I'll take all the carbs.

How many points did you get?

  1. Haha i love this! Only 2 points for me as well, for the same thing. :)

  2. Okay, but the real question is... what's an "allot of jewelry?"

  3. I saw this the other day and giggled at it. I got a 10!

    ReplyDelete
  4. I loved this. I too got very low score. Its really interesting.

  5. HAHA I'm high maintenance apparently, but I am able to get ready pretty quickly despite wearing make up every day. Unless I know I'm not going anywhere or seeing anyone. ;)

  6. I got 2 for hair dye and I do like to paint my nails but it's rare when I do, so maybe 4. But I still think that I might be high maintenance. I love to buy lots of paper and yarn for my hobbies and I love to eat fast food...so yeah...

  7. Haha! This is kinda funny and yes, I call myself high maintenance too...but I think I can adjust according to time and responsibilities. I think it's all about one's priorities since depending on an occasion, I can wear makeup as fast or too slow. But well, guys get tired of waiting so if I'd want to be ready in an hour, I'll have to get up earlier.

  8. I am moderate and I don't do any of those things to impress anyone, least of all my husband LOL. I just like to look good. It makes me feel better about myself when I look my best, you know?

  9. 8 points here, all for nails as i wear polish and do have acrylic tips over a couple that broke. I'm about as low maintenance as they come.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Very low maintenance here as well. Doesn't take me long to get ready to go anywhere. I don't even color my hair anymore. Let the gray take over and at my age that is okay.

  11. I'm around under 20 points, I enjoy makeup. However, I don't wear it daily. I love your book purse. It's so pretty and unique.

  12. I paint my nails and wax my brows and I wouldn't say I'm high maintenance at all!

  13. You are adorable! Im 32 and still have skin like a teenager so if I'm going out I try to put on foundation and mascara... Other than that Im ready and usually too tired to mess with it. I seen that post on FB awhile back...

  14. Wow! I can't say I'm too high maintenance as well (especially according to that infographic). I often see those images on Facebook and they sure do give me a good giggle.

  15. I got 8 points!! LOL. I like being a shorts and tshirt kind of gal but when I need to dress my best, I can do it. I gotta keep the hair dyed for sure though. Not ready for gray.

  16. I am such a low maintenance person I don't even think I got one on that list LOL. I am out of make up where I do shave my legs but not typically every day. I am more of a T-shirt and jeans type of girl.

  17. I am a 2 also for the most part I am very low maintainance. My husband likes me this way. Once in awhile I will wear makeup and heals but not on a regular basis.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I got an 8. I try to wear less makeup because I am older. I don't want to be one of those old ladies with black hair and bright red lips! lol I love tee shirts and jeans. That is most of my wardrobe!

    ReplyDelete
  19. I got a six so I am low maintenance it seems. I wear makeup but not daily!

    ReplyDelete
  20. I'm the same as you 2 points as I dye my hair. BE GONE GREYS! I used to be worse though lol.

    ReplyDelete
  21. LMAO I got nearly all of them but I'm a typical aries hahaha

    ReplyDelete
  22. Same here, two points, and you deserve carbs, I do as well :D

  23. OMG I am somewhere in between depending on my mood. Normally I wear natural makeup, but for my Youtube and blog (Which is a based on beauty) I kinda have to go all out. Happy to say that I only post tutorials for wearable makeup. Not Instagram cakeface makeup. What a fun post to read.

  24. I got a 12 (but that's only because I have had the same Tory Burch bag for 5 years).

    ReplyDelete
  25. I got a 6, I guess I am not too high maintenance! I have been told I am low maintenance but feminine. I like to dress in sun dresses, do paint my nails sometimes but I am all about comfort and ease with my life.

  26. I only put make-up on when the situation calls for it, like weddings and all that. Otherwise, you wouldn't see me walking around with make-up. I like quick routines as well. I don't like taking SO much time getting ready.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I got 20 but only because I carry a designer bag. It was the only one that fit my computer and all my purse stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I got a 43...so semi-high maintenance! LOL! I blame it on designer purses and massages. Now as far as clothing goes, give me jeans (or shorts depending on the season) a plain t-shirt and a kimono and I'm good to go!!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I got 12 points. 2 for dying my hair and 10 for the designer purse. I bought over 10 years ago that I no longer carry because it too big. But I did buy it on clearance, im a deal finder whenever possible.

I wear jeans and thirts. Around the house, I wear shorts.

I have had a massage but my health insurance paid for them as part of my physical therapy treatment for my back/hip pain. I could use a massage now its been a long time.

  30. This is a very interesting chart about maintenance.I guess natural is the best not because it is low maintenance, but beauty is more in the natural look.

    ReplyDelete
  31. This is such an awesome chart! I got 17 so I am glad I am not a high maintenance girl. I am going to share it with my husband who thinks he married a high maintenance girl :)

    ReplyDelete
  32. My husband is the same way. After a few dates, he told me he liked the no makeup look, so now almost 10 years later I rarely wear it -- which is a blessing because I have allergies to a lot of it.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I got 16 points. I buy my purse from clearance as well. I don't see the need for paying expensive prices.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Haha, I think I read this in Facebook and I scored myself as low maintenance though. Lol. I scored only 10.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Hahah! I got 2 points... and only because my nails just happen to be painted right now because I painted them for the first time in MONTHS last weekend for a wedding. Oh, and they're super chipped already, so that probably leaves me with only one point. Oh well.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Personally I am not a high maintenance if I could save some bucks that's where I am favor with. My husband though doesn't mind if I am or not. He told me I like maintaining you so sweet but I am thrifty person haha!

    ReplyDelete
  37. So, on a regular basis, I'm an 8 due to wearing makeup daily and having my hair dyed. If I'm not going anywhere, I don't wear makeup, but that's generally maybe one day on a weekend or if I'm sick. About once a year, I'd be a 13 due to having my eyebrows waxed, but again... that's like once or maaaaybe twice a year.

    ReplyDelete
  38. 24 but I didn't buy my designer purse. It was a Christmas gift from my mom. So does that count? *tee hee hee* I'm probably the highest low maintenance chick you'll ever meet. Quality lip balm and lip gloss and some red lipstick and tada, I'm done.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I have 0...I don’t do any of those things lol maybe a 2 because I use lip balm or chap stick daily. Does that count as makeup?

    ReplyDelete
  40. I have a designer purse. There, I've said it. That gives me a score of 10 points - with an explanation. I have a designer purse because my daughter gave it to me, not because I bought it. My former purse was one I purchased on deep discount at Beall's Outlet. It was originally about $50. I got it for $7. Granted, it looked like it had been used by a bag lady, but it stayed comfortably on my shoulder. The designer bag is fun though. It is black patent leather and has a little whip and chain straps, so I dubbed it the Dominatrix. Doesn't stay on my shoulder worth a damn, but it's flashy!

    My daughter's score is 43.

  41. Not a very high score for me, but this list is seriously hilarious!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Haha, I got a 20. I guess I am a little high maintenance, thanks to my designer bag and expensive make up (which I only wear once a week or 2)... lol

    ReplyDelete
  43. I'm definitely not high maintenance. I got a four. Who needs all that fancy stuff?

    ReplyDelete
  44. haha im definitely low maintenance if i go by the chart. I love a day of no makeup just as i like a little makeup.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I am most definitely a low-maintenance girl! This list is such a hoot though - I have friends who would score in the 60's and above!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Uh-oh... I guess according to this I am high-maintenance. I don't really think of myself as high maintenance, but I love to dress up and wear heels. I also have to have my hair and nails done.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I don't think about myself as high maintenance, but according to this quiz thingy I am a bit! Wow, I guess you learn something new everyday. To each their own, thanks for sharing! :)

    ReplyDelete
  48. I am definitely not high maintenance. I got a 2 because I dye my hair to cover the grays. That list is funny.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Sadly I am low maintainance too. i do wear the bear minimum makeup when i go out. My daughter on the other hand is very high and my husband is glad she will pay for herself in a few years.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I got a 22, but feel like I'm so low maintenance compared to others I know. I"m sticking with that!

    ReplyDelete
  51. It's great to see T_mobile is so involved. I love seeing that in a company.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I got a 16--not high maintenance! WOO

    ReplyDelete
  53. Hahaha, 2 for hair dye! Well, I'm high maintenance I guess... but I can still get ready in ten minutes, thanks to the hair dye and lash extensions ;)

    ReplyDelete
  54. I do not think of myself as high maintenance, but I guess I am! I got 25 points for dying my hair, waxing my eyebrows and carrying a designer purse.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I got 10 points. I buy a box of hair dye every few months, and I eyebrow tattoos because mine are blonde and barely visible. I feel like the permanent makeup is more of a low maintenance thing because it keeps me from having to put any makeup on.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I actually have a 0. I guess I am as low maintanence as it gets. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  57. I was before but not anymore. I guess, I don't have time to spoil myself and spend all the money on groceries and entertainment for kids :)

    ReplyDelete
  58. I am low maintenance too. I’ve never been a girly girl and rarely wear makeup. I’ll do it I want to feel sexy or special occasion but I don’t feel I need it. I got a 2 bc I dye my hair. Jeans and T-shirt maybe a nice shirt with tennis shoes or sandals. Shaving what is that. I’d shave my legs more often but with mobility issues it’s a huge pain in the butt.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I also got a 2, and for the same reason. I honestly wish I could be a tiny bit more put together because I fall into the hot mess category. But I think my optimum number would still be in the 5-8 range.
