Hey, It's Okay

I got this idea from Glamour magazine. You can link up any day of the week. All you have to do is make a list of what you're okay about. Simple! Please do not link up a post that has nothing to do with Hey, It's Okay. It's rude and I'll delete the link.

HEY, IT'S OKAY....

.....to be glad that Hallmark brought back their commercial of two women getting married. They had pulled it because of complaints, and then returned it, thank goodness.

.....to have gone to see the new Jumanji movie. It was hilarious. I liked the first one better, but this was still enjoyable.

.....to be excited to see Natalie's recital this week. She had to audition to get a part in the group dance. I'll share more next week!

.....to appreciate all the comments I got about the Period Party post. A person did comment on Facebook that it was TMI and I said, nope, it's a natural thing.

....to be preparing bags for teachers this week. I try to give gift cards to my children's favorite teachers, the rest get chocolate. (They are in middle and high school, so there can be like 7 teachers each. If I were rich, all teachers would give a gift card! Teachers are my heroes. I couldn't imagine dealing with other people's children all day. And some of them are rude!)

Do you give presents to teachers?

  1. I used to give small gifts to the teachers. This year I am just contributing to the group gift. I suppose I could still send in chocolate!

  2. Shame on Hallmark for removing it in the first place, but I am also definitley glad they came to their senses.

  3. I want to hope that Hallmark came to their senses but I have this terrible feeling that it came down to loss of money and public shaming. Hopefully that's not the case but... you never know.

  4. I love that Hallmark reviewed their decision! And it should stay this way!

  5. You're so on schedule for preparing teacher bags for the holidays. I totally forgot about Christmas cards this year and feel so silly about it!

  6. It is so nice that you take care of the teachers that spend more time with our kids than we do some days. I did not see Jumanji but I love Danny Devito.

  7. I think it's such a great idea to send gifts to teachers. It would be nice if Hallmark still offered those.

  9. I have four kids (11th, 10th, 4th and 3rd)...we only did gifts for the 3rd and 4th grade teachers. The junior and sophomore dont think it's a "cool" idea.

  10. I definitely think teachers deserve to be spoiled, especially around the holidays. We do something similar - chocolate for teachers the kids are close with and gift cards for those who have really gone above and beyond.

  11. We haven't given teacher gifts since elementary school. Buy, what is also important is positive feedback. We have had some terrific teachers since then and I make sure they know they are appreciated and how much they have helped my son. From what I can tell, all of these teachers are very happy to know they made a difference.

  12. Since my girls are in high school and college, we only gift to their favorite teachers because we just can't afford to buy for them all. The lunch lady lives down the road and has been a blessing to my daughter since she was in elementary, so she gets an extra special gift every year.

  13. I used to give gifts to Lucas' teachers when he was in elementary, but I stopped when he got to junior high for the most part. We focus on teacher appreciation week now!

  16. Hey it's also ok to not be ok. Something I'm working on this week! I also don't have any teachers to give a gift to, but it's something I plan to do in the future when my kiddo gets a little older!

  17. Can I just make a comment on that person's comment on your period post? It's natural, we should not be ashamed of it and we should be doing more to inform younger girls/women about periods. We need to remove the stigma attached to them because they are just as natural as breathing.

I'm working on allowing myself to say 'Hey, it's okay...' to taking a break for Christmas.

  18. I do give a gift to teachers, particularly the ones that have done something over and beyond for my child. That being said, it isn't a huge thing, sometimes something I made, or a small gift card to a place they like to go.

  19. We do give gifts to teachers sometimes. My daughters like to make things themselves though, and I think that's great. I know teachers appreciate anything.
