6 Reasons Why You Should See A Quiet Place (No Spoilers)

"Can we go see A Quiet Place?" my daughter asked.

"Let me read some reviews first," I answered. I'm pretty lax about what movies she's able to see but if there are too many suggestive scenes, I'll veto it. However, this movie had no suggestive scenes, just horror ones. It's PG-13. Natalie has seen rated R movies. As I said, I'm pretty lax.

Plus, she's always liked terrifying things. Remember when she was a clown for Halloween?

*Shudders*

I told Natalie we could go. My son even agreed to leave his room and see it, so long as he was fed.

So we went and saw A Quiet Place, and here are my thoughts.

1. It's intriguing.

The movie is called A Quiet Place, and it really is that: quiet. The actors don't utter a word until about 30 minutes in, and it's brief. It's simply action. You'll watch, transfixed. Why is everything so quiet? Well, apparently it's some apocalypse where monsters have descended onto Earth and have started killing everyone. Unless they stay quiet.

2. John Krasinski is in it.

I've been a fan of John since it's Office days. Plus, did you catch his rendition of Bye, Bye, Bye on Lip Sync Battle? He also directed the film, and he did a wonderful job.

3. Emily Blunt is in it, too.

She's pretty spectacular. (And is John Krasinski's real life wife.) I mean, she's going to be Mary Poppins at the end of the year. Plus, she was hilarious in The Devil Wears Prada.

4. It'll remind you of the power of the love of a parent.

Of course parents will do anything for their children. And this movie shows that. (And yes, that IS the boy who played Jack Will in Wonder.)

5. The ending is fabulous.

I won't say much more about it. You must go see the movie.

6. It's not TOO scary.

Look, I'm a total wimp when it comes to horror movies. I cover my eyes. I jump. I sometimes flat out refuse to even watch it. But this movie isn't terribly frightening. I mean, yes, there are some parts where you'll jump, but I wasn't completely petrified. My daughter is 11 and she sat through it without any issues. (Though she did have her hands to her cheeks towards the end.) It is a breathtaking film that'll have you feeling like you ran 3 miles. Uphill.

Have you seen A Quiet Place yet? Would you survive being silent? My family would not. We're loud.

  12. My kid saw it and he told me he thinks the entire family should see it. I'm not a scary movie fan and he knows this so I was really surprised he was even recommending it to me. However, after he explained the pic even saying it was good enough he would see it again, I think I'm sold and we may see it after all.

  13. Laughing out loud here:
"Can we go see a quiet place?" - said no kid ever. Then realized it was the name of a movie she wanted to see. I like horror movies when they're really good, but mostly not attracted by this genre. Kids love them all, of course.
