Did you know Cracker Barrel had Heat N Serve holiday meals you can pick up? You can order a turkey breast, plus sides. (And pies!) With the election results and still reeling from that, I was in no mood to cook. So I decided to order Cracker Barrel.
It was easy to pick up. I scheduled a day and time. I didn't even have to get out of my car. The signs were out in the parking lot and I pulled up, gave my name, and they brought me my box:
It was full of my Thanksgiving meal & was all packed nicely:
It came with instructions on how to heat everything up. I didn't have to cook a dang thing.
Here's what I got: cranberry relish, turkey gravy, turkey breast, sweet potato casserole, green beans, stuffing, and rolls. I did pay extra for mashed potatoes because I love mashed potatoes.
But was everything good?
Yes! The turkey wasn't dry. I worried about that.
Everything had flavor. Now, I wasn't a fan of the stuffing--it had an odd taste--but my son loved it, so it really depends on the person.
The rolls were delish and I ate too many of them.
Did I think it was worth the price? I paid a little over $130.
I think so. I didn't have to worry about buying a turkey and defrosting it and basting it. I didn't have to scramble to make everything and figure out oven times to cook. Everything I got was able to be re-heated at the same temperature, so it was simple.
Would I get this again? Yes! Cracker Barrel has Christmas meals available. You can do the ham or there's even prime rib. Check them out to learn more.
Have you ever picked up a Thanksgiving meal?

ReplyDeleteThat's news to me. There's a Cracker Barrels near my office, but not near my house. Maybe I should stop by on my way home and pick up a meal to go.
ReplyDeleteI am totally with you on that turkey breast worry, because nothing crushes the spirit faster than a dry holiday bird! You know, $130 to totally skip the defrosting, basting, and juggling six different oven times, that’s actually a bargain for your mental health
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a fantastic, stress-free option for holiday meals. It's smart that they offer curbside pickup for the prepared food.

This looks like a great option especially if you're crunched for time and don't have time to cook. I've picked up a Thanksgiving catered food at one time because I had to feed so many people.
