So, okay, I thought, hmm, would she even wake up on time?
We had to be there at 8.
She's not a morning person.
But. She woke up. Because I think it was important for her to be there.
Where, you might ask? Her elementary school. They do a senior walk through where all the kids sit in the hall and clap for the graduates. It's cute. Natalie remembers sitting in the same hall clapping for seniors when she was in 4th and 5th grade. Those are the only grades she attended the school as her Dad is in the military and were were in Oklahoma before.
Walking back into the elementary school was surreal. Even though Natalie only spent 2 years there, the memories came flooding back. I remembered sitting through her violin concerts. Her choir concerts. Attending her class holiday parties.
The elementary kids were too cute. The seniors would high five them as they walked past.
Then they went into the cafeteria and sang the school song. Natalie still remembered.
This is where I cried. I remembered her as a little girl on that same stage.
The school had a nice set up. The library had their photos out and food and drinks. Natalie hugged friends she went to elementary school with. Not all of them attend the same high school. Some moved and went to other high schools.
I remembered some of the kids. I remembered their tiny faces that have since matured.
Gosh.
It all goes by so fast.
Before we left, Natalie had to stop by and get a sticker. She would bring change to school when she was a little girl and get stickers often. She was happy the machine was still there.
I remembered how she did her final walk out of the elementary school when she finished 5th grade:
And then she did a final walk out as a senior in high school.
Well my gosh - this is choking ME up LOL .... I love they do this - gives the little ones GOALS & that your daughter remembers doing it herself - thats' so cool.
ReplyDelete& um -I want a sticker machine near me STAT
I love that she went to her old school. My son needs to visit his old school for the same experience.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a heartwarming tradition! Seeing seniors walk through their old elementary school must bring back so many memories—for both the students and the teachers. What a beautiful way to celebrate how far they’ve come and inspire the younger kids, too. Thanks for sharing this special moment!
ReplyDeleteSeniors here do the same thing. They walk through the schools as well. Congrats to her on graduation!!
ReplyDeleteOhh wow ... that's a big day definitely to remember for her. Congratulations. Cheers SiennyLovesDrawing
ReplyDeleteIt's so emotional to be a senior on the last day of school, isn't it? I remember mine, and there are so many emotions. It's like all the bad things from school, all the exams, all the happy things, disappear and nostalgia takes over as those moments will never come back again
ReplyDeleteWOW, this is such an emotional day for everyone. You Go Natalie!!! Congrats and I wish you much success! Mom, you should be SOOOOOO PROUD!!
ReplyDeleteThis was such a sweet post! The senior walk sounds like a lovely way to celebrate memories and mark a big milestone.
ReplyDeleteNatural Beauty And Makeup ❤️
This brings back memories of my own kids' last days at elementary school. Time really does fly when you're raising humans!
ReplyDeleteOur schools go for another month, and our Senior Walk Through is June 25. Looking forward to this!
ReplyDeleteI bet this was an awesome experience for your daughter and we moved around too much when I was younger to have ever been able to do this as we were military. When I graduated I was in a different state than my elementary school and I will say I think it is beautiful that your daughter was able to do this. I love all of the pictures above too and congrats on a job well done Mom.... your kids are doing fabulously!
ReplyDeleteHow time flies! This is a beautiful tradition and I think I would be crying too to see and realize that the kids are all grown up.
ReplyDeleteWhy would you let your daughter who just graduated high school and lives at home have sleepovers with her boyfriend/girlfriend in your home???
ReplyDeleteWow! this is emotional and heartfelt day for everyone. We all know how important that day is, congrats in achieving it, it is something that will be always in our heart forever.
ReplyDeleteThis is such an amazing thing for Katie's elementary school to do! While my kids did not have such an event, we did go to my daughter's elementary school and middle school right after she graduated high school and did a photo walk through by ourselves (the schools were already closed, so we just walked outside).. Congrats to Katie and i can totally understand how you all must have felt during this
