Hey, It's Okay

I got this idea from Glamour magazine. You can link up any day of the week. All you have to do is make a list of what you're okay about. Simple! Please do not link up a post that has nothing to do with Hey, It's Okay. It's rude and I'll delete the link.

HEY, IT'S OKAY....

.....to have had the best trip at Walt Disney World. Lots of laughs and memories, as always. It truly is our happy place.

.....to be excited to go see Superman on Wednesday at Flix Brewhouse. We've heard it's fabulous.

......to also be going to Natalie's college orientation this week. She'll get to see where she'll be living and attending classes. Ack!

......to have waited in line at Gideon's Bakehouse while at Disney Springs because the cookies are that good. It took about 20 minutes, so not so bad.

.....to have taken some graduation pics at the Tangled bathrooms while at Disney World. It's gorgeous in the area. My daughter absolutely loves Tangled, so it was the perfect spot.

  1. Sounds like such a time full of fun, excitement, and big milestones! I love that you took grad pics at the Tangled bathrooms! And yes, I've heard that Gideon’s cookies are definitely worth the wait. We need to make our way over there one day.

  4. It sounds like you had an amazing trip with the family. I’d love to go to Disney again but not so sure my back could handle it for several days. I love the Tangled graduation photos.

  5. Reading this felt like being gently reminded it's okay to be messy, and that doesn't make you any less strong. Your honesty about the hard days and small joys really resonated with me.

  7. This is such a precious idea! It's great to see your list of "hey, it's okay" moments which I'm sure will grow over time. So far, it sounds like you've had a brilliant time, from Disney World laughs to exciting plans for the cinema and college orientation.

  8. This is such a sweet post! I would be the first to admit that I’m a workaholic. I often feel guilty when I’m not keeping myself busy. I’m learning that there’s nothing wrong with taking a break. There is nothing wrong with enjoying life and having fun every so often. For me, I would say, Hey, it’s ok to take a break sometimes. Hey, it’s ok that it’s summer and you’re enjoying time with your family. Thankyou for this cute post!

  11. The idea of making a list of what you're okay about is such a simple but powerful reframing tool. It really shifts the focus from what's wrong to accepting the small, everyday things. It reminds me of a similar mindset shift discussed on this blog.

  12. This really resonated. I’ve also found that making a simple list of what I’m ‘okay’ with can be a powerful reset on a stressful day. It’s a practice I’m trying to adopt more often. Your post reminded me of a similar approach I read about on a wellness blog.

  13. I really appreciate how you set clear guidelines for link-ups. It's interesting that you enforce the theme so strictly—do you find that helps maintain a more authentic discussion around the 'okay' list?

  14. I’ve noticed that when I stop fighting the small messes in my day, the stress actually drops. Your point about adjusting expectations rather than forcing perfection really clicked for me—it’s something I’ve been working on with my own routines.

  19. This "Hey, It's Okay" series is such a breath of fresh air! As a mom of three, I needed to hear that it's okay to let the laundry pile up sometimes. The permission to not have it all together is genuinely liberating — we put so much pressure on ourselves to be perfect.

On a slightly different note, my kids have been obsessed with this browser-based football game called Head Football during their summer break downtime. It's cartoonish, no violence, runs on any device without downloads, and the matches are short enough that I don't have to pry them away when it's time for chores or dinner. I've actually started using it as a reward for helping with folding — they get a match while I tackle the mountain of towels and it keeps them occupied without making more mess. The oversized heads and ridiculous power-ups are genuinely hilarious too.

Any tips for getting older kids to actually put their clothes in the hamper instead of the floor? That's my current battle.

Loving this honest parenting space — thanks for keeping it real!
