Winning An Obsession Movie Costume Contest

So, can you really win a contest if you're the only contestant?

It's what happened to Natalie.

We went to an Obsession movie event and was the only one to show up in character.

If you've never seen the movie Obsession, it's basically about a guy who makes a wish that his co-worker will love him more than anyone else in the world. And it all goes terribly wrong.

It made over 500 million at the box office and was made for under 1 million. So yeah, it resonated with many people.

But back to the contest. There was one the day before, Saturday, and many showed up. But Sunday? Natalie was the only one who walked around in fake blood and wounds made with latex. Did she get double takes? Yes. Someone asked if she was okay in a wobbly voice as though she were worried there was a murderer in our midst.

Anyhow, since she took the time to dress up, Kings of Horror, the people behind the event, gave her the 1st place prize.

And one of those prizes included meeting Darin Toonder, who played Harry the shopkeeper in the film.

He was the nicest guy. You can always tell when someone is eager to meet fans, and he certainly was. We watched him interact with so many for long periods of time.

That's Natalie holding the One Wish Willow that caused all the craziness in the film.

And she even filmed something for social media and had a blast doing it. Her theatre classes are coming into play

She even got an autograph, which she will cherish. He signed it with a line from the movie ("It is too early"), which pertains to her life in college. Her alarm goes off at 7 AM on Monday and Wednesday, and she is NOT a morning person.

And that's not it! She got a bag full of goodies. Kings of Horror is truly the kindest people.

Their next event is Mallrats, where Kevin Smith will be there! Plus other Jay & Silent Bob actors. It's September 5th and 6th!

So have you seen Obsession yet? If not, it's streaming on Peacock!

  2. What a fun story. I love how a costume contest can turn into such a memorable experience, especially when creativity, enthusiasm, and a little competitive spirit come together.

  3. Nope, I haven’t seen this movie or even heard of it, but any movie where people start casting spells or making wishes always seems to have them backfire! That’s what you get when you start messing with things you probably shouldn’t be messing with. You just know it’s not going to end well!

  4. It sounds like she lucked out being the online one in costume because that meant she automatically won. I'm not a horror fan, but I'm sure that was an amazing experience for her!

  5. Tak powinna wyglądać twoja córka. Pobita i pokonana.

  10. Showing up in full costume when nobody else did takes real dedication. Meeting actors who actually enjoy chatting with fans makes those events unforgettable.
