Things I Must Do When I Visit Walt Disney World

Disney World. It's a magical place. For adults. For kids. For babies.

We love it so much that we've been three times. In 2008, 2013, and 2015.

We'll be there again next month. If funds allowed it, we'd go every year. It's hard to explain how amazing Disney World is. It's difficult to write exactly how it makes me feel. But I do know it makes my son smile, and he's a teenager and doesn't smile much these days.

There are things I must do when I visit Disney World. Maybe one day I'll mix it up more and leave one of these out, but I don't know.

1. Stay on site! There are so many different advantages. Free transportation. Magic bands. Being able to either go to a park early or stay later than everyone else not staying on site. Being able to book dining reservations 180 days out and Fast Passes 60 days out. I highly recommend staying at a Disney hotel. I've stayed at the following: All Stars Music, Port Orleans French Quarter, Port Orleans Riverside. I mean, look how gorgeous:

Plus there were other perks. A free boat shuttle to Disney Springs, for one, plus there was always night time fun for kids. Movie nights and other crafts were set up. We're staying at Port Orleans French Quarter again and they have a pool with a slide.

2. Eat at Be Our Guest. I've eaten there at lunch and dinner. The difference is the selection of food, plus with dinner you get to meet the Beast.

3. Buy custom outfits or shirts for my children. Since my son is older, he'll only wear Disney t-shirts and this will be our last trip where my daughter wears a custom dress. In the future it'll be t-shirts for her as well. But we had fun while it lasted.

(To see more outfits, I have a post on things girls can wear here.)

4. Take the Disney Magic Express from the airport to our Disney hotel. It's another reason to stay on site! Plus it'll take you back to the airport when it's time to go.

5. Pig out! Look, I'm on vacation and I walk a lot, so I don't feel guilty indulging.

We cannot wait to return to Walt Disney World.

Have you ever been?

  6. You're so lucky you have Disneyworld in your country. The closest to us is at Hong Kong Disneyland, and it's still a 2-hour flight away! Your kids are so cute btw!

  7. Lol like Melissa said above, must be amazing to have Disney Land nearby. They were actually planning to build the first Disney Land in the Philippines in our city(Baguio) but was prevented by our Mayor.

    1. I think it is on the benefit side of the Philippines not to have its own DisneyLand. Economically speaking, Philippines is way too young for Disneyland and not yet feasible for this kind of attractions. Singapore is much feasible but still don't allowed by their government.

  8. Buying some of the outfits is a must. I haven't been to Disney in years, but I can't wait until my daughter is old enough to go.

  11. We're going the first week in April. This is my 5th trip and my husband's gazillionth (he grew up in FL) but only our second since we had kids. We'll have a 9 year old, a 7 year old, a 4 year old...And a 4 month old. Yeah, we're a little crazy. But we love it. We're driving because we live in GA but we are staying on site, in the cabins at Ft Wilderness, for a little more room and the option to feel less guilty about all the noise we're going to make. Also you can drive up to those, so it's less schlepping of the suitcases which is a plus for me! I can't wait. Disney is one of those places where I just feel so relaxed. Everybody who works there seems like they just can't do enough to make your vacation as nice as possible and it makes it great. I love it. I can't wait to see my 4 year old's face, she was only 18 months old the last time we went and she is thrilled.

  12. Amazing! I haven't been to Disney World since I was a kid, but we grew up only 20 minutes from Disneyland and we would go often. Even as an adult, it is truly a magical place!

  13. We just got back from WDW...and everyone got sick. We definitely didn't get a great experience. I wouldn't know where to start if we could have done it all up. That place is so overwhelming. I did love extra magic hours. That was totally worth staying on property! We didn't try any restaurants so that would be something I would want to look into in the future. I hope you all have an amazing time!

  14. We definitely walked a ton while there which makes the eating feel less indulgent! lol!

  15. We went to Disneyland Paris back in 99 and whilst I enjoyed it I don't have any major urges to return. Although they now own Marvel & Star Wars maybe there is something for me...

  16. I think you know my answer to that question! I already can't wait to get back, and it's only been a month since we were there. I've never done #2 but I wholeheartedly agree with all.
And pigging out is a good plan because with all the walking, Disney calories don't seem to stick. Magical!

  17. I agree. Magic is exuded there.

  30. We have been, do go often. We live in St Pete so just over an hour away and 2 years ago we finally decided, and budgeted enough, to get annual passes. We love Magic Kingdom. Be Our Guest is on our to do for my oldest daughters birthday this year, she has always been a fan of Beauty and The Beast. Hope you have a great, and magical, trip!

  32. I agree that Disney is a magical place although I always seem to be disappointed by the food, like this Christmas we had lunch at the Wilderness Lodge. Loved the ketchup game but not wild about their "famous" family style meal.

  55. The perk of living in Florida is I can go often. I have annual passes so I try to go once a month. However, in a few weeks I will be going with my sister-in-law and my niece who is a senior in high school. It will be fun to visit the parks without small children.
