Here Are The Pictures

Remember how I went to Wal-Mart awhile back to get some pictures done?

If not, you can read about it here.

This is just a tiny recap on what happened:

--We were going to get family photos done

--About an hour before we were set to leave, Tom's work called him and he had to go in

--I decided to go ahead with the pictures since they didn't have any other convenient times

--Things started out okay. Then Natalie fuh-lipped the freak out. Then Tommy freaked out. Then I freaked out.

--I managed to spend $100 on pictures and I had no idea what I bought seeing as I was so upset

So yeah. I have the pictures back. I've had them for awhile, I just forgot to share.

This is our family photo. My smile looks strained because the photographer was taking forever on snapping the picture. Plus I had been crying thirty minutes before since Tom wasn't able to make it so my eyes are all puffy. I was also stressed trying to get Natalie to stand beside me. She didn't want to stand beside me. It's why she's standing there looking somewhat perturbed and confused.

I love this picture. We took this one next and I started to relax thinking that everything would be okay. But no, it wasn't okay, because soon after this was taken, Natalie had a fit. I'm not sure what happened. Was it the diseased bear that the photographer was swinging around her, trying to get her to smile? Who knows?

While Natalie screamed, Tommy posed for a picture. I tried to get one of just her but she wasn't having it.

I also had a photo with me sitting with Tommy and then with me sitting with Natalie. I look like hell in those photos so I won't be sharing. In those, my smile definately looks strained (probably because I wanted to scream, "KIDS! Relax! Stop acting like wild animals!") and Tommy looks downright pissed off.

I actually CAN photograph okay without a strained smile when I'm happy. See?

Okay, so I had a few drinks in that photo. But still.

*Sighs*

The photos that we took last year at Wal-Mart turned out great. No one cried. No one flipped out. No strained smiles!

I don't think we'll be getting photos done next year since Tom will be in Korea. I'm not going through the crying and screaming again. No thanks.

I'll just continue to take my own photos.

I mean, would Wal-Mart have been able to capture this moment?

Natalie got her head stuck. With no pants on because remember, she's going through a No Pants phase. She was all, "HELP ME! HELP ME! I STUCK!" The pink thing she has on is her jacket. She sometimes likes to wear it just because.

This jacket. And yes, she was ticked off in this photo. Much like she was at Wal-Mart, minus the screaming. She was all, "No pictures please. NO PICTURES PLEASE!" Thank goodness she wasn't born to famous parents. I imagine if we were followed by the Paparazzi she'd hurl a shoe at them or something and scream, "NO PICTURES!" She'd be dubbed Crabby Natalie and Perez Hilton would claim she was like this because we pawned her off on nannies. Then I'd be all, "No, actually that's just her personality. Thanks."

  1. Oh god. I'm sweating just reading this. I don't do the whole studio photography thing anymore. I can't take the stress. And I can't afford any more therapy for my kids.

  2. I think they turned out really cute!

  3. I want a pink jacket like that for myself.

I take my own photos too. Walmart sucks.

  4. The pictures look great. Last year's was better, but for the experience...good pictures. I take our pictures every year. My friends and family can KMA and keep their criticism to themselves...I can't do the whole scheduled picture time thing with my two.

Tonight we are attempting the picture. We will see what comes of it.

  6. Holiday pictures are over rated! If you can get a card out in the mail with a scribble of a signature then your a rock star!!

  7. Oh those photos turned out good! You're just to fussy, anyone with kids knows not to have great expectations when it comes to photos. That's what photoshop is for. Take pictures and then crop together the best of everyone into one photo! Works like a charm lol!

  8. You have such a precious family! The pictures turned out just fine picky mom. Now pass them out so everyone can be envious! LoL

  9. The pictures did turn out very nice, seeings how you had to go through hell and back just to get them to pose and smile and shit. :)

My sister and I used to take our kids pictures at Christmas. She had four kids and I have 2. Let me tell you what a fiasco THAT was! Within 10 minutes we would be swearing and yelling at them! In her case, it would be hard to get all 4 kids to look at the camera at once. We think about those days and laugh!

  10. K. I'm sneaking over and cutting off all your hair and see if I can glue it onto mine.

    Beautiful!!!

  11. The pictures turned out great, even if you were a little on the stressed-out side! Your kids are always photogenic. And I can't believe how big they've gotten. You know, I started reading you over at ITW before you were even pregnant with Natalie - so I've gotten to see them both grow from the time they were really small!

  14. Your kids look beautiful. You look beautiful. Considering the hell you went through to get 'em taken in the first place, I'd say it was another successful family portrait. Well, almost. :)

  15. I think this is a fight for every family at any age (although I imagine it's much harder with the younger ones).

The last time we attempted this, my brother ended up flipping off the photographer, I got the giggles and my mom was furious.

Poor thing. I had fun, though!

  16. This could be one reason why we haven't done our holiday photo card yet. We cannot seem to get a decent photo of everyone, let alone one where EVERYONE is looking at the camera. And not crying.

You got some cute ones in spite of the debacle!

  17. If there wasn't any back story, I wouldn't have known! They're cute!

  18. The photos are pretty cute, really. Hope you can enjoy them without reliving that nasty day!

  19. You take such great pictures you hardly need Walmart - use the money to get a little background scenery and heck, you could do all the kids in your neighborhood - once word gets out..

    :)

  20. Awwww!

I take the 4 kids I nanny for to get pics taken for their parents every 6 months. I've found it's all about the photographer. Makes all the difference.

  21. Still sucks that your hubby wasn't able to be in the pics...hopefully you're not too many years away from the end of the fit throwing too!

By the way...can I have your hair???

  22. I think your pictures are beautiful.

I switched from Walmart to Target last year for Christmas pictures. Somehow it was both less stressful and less expensive.

  23. SOO CUTE - I love the one of all of you and I love the one of the two of the kids together. Natalie cracks me up with the "no pictures please" comments - HILARIOUS! And she's just so darn CUTE! :o)

  24. Um, you guys on a bad day look better than we do at our best. Those are puffy eyes? Again, the bad day/best comment applies. The kids are adorable in all the shots. And Natalie's expression in the group shot is great -- lots of personality. I also love the no pictures Garbo shot in the pink coat.

  25. Well, my kids don't behave much (fine, any,) better. My hubs and MIL take all the pics, so we can keep trying, but it never works. At least she is cute!

  26. I think that your pictures are great! WE are going through picture hell right now... my two cries every time there is a camera around...

    Love your blog!!

  27. I have come to the conclusion that 2 year olds are not meant to have their photos taken.

  28. The pictures have come out great!

It's been a long time since I had photographs shot at a studio. May be it's the best time to do it soon.

    Thanks for inspiring me :)

    Cheers!!

  32. The photos are lovely! And at least they come with a story you may laugh about one day. Maybe.

  33. I think the photos look nice. I usually don't care for photos at studios because they always look too posed for me. I like the ones you take better. Natalie as always is adorable and Tommy looks just like Tom.

  34. I think they came out great! Your family is beautiful!

Can I say, we haven't had family pictures taken since my 5 year old was 5 months and we've added 2 more kids since then. How bad is that? Bad, I know. LOL

    Swinging by from SITS!

  35. This was our first year with the Pros taking our holiday pictures.

I'm with ya, go for the candids next year. So much more realistic. Very cute.

  36. Oooooooooooooh my oh my oh my ... the one of the two of them turned out GREAT!!! That might have been worth it, just for that single photo but.... I'm thinking not. I'm really sorry Tom got called away :( That stinks.

Natalie has always had that personality! LOL

  37. Oh I wanted to tell you that it's not fair dreaming about Taco Bell and then talking about it in the SITS roll-call. LOL

  40. This is exactly why I do my own pictures! No paying for pictures Im not 100% happy with, no screaming kids, no freaked out mama!

    ReplyDelete
  41. We got ours done at Sears, and it too was a nightmare. My baby smiles. all. the. time. except when a professional photographer is trying to capture something other than screaming. Sigh.

    That second one is beautiful.

  42. I have to do this. I have no pics of us ... in fact, I think you just gave me a great idea for Christmas for the husband seeing as I couldn't get him the surround sound because the TV broke?!?!? AAAAAH. In any event you all look beautiful, perfect. I just know that if it was my family, we'd all look like burnt q-tips - we've got curly hair.

    xx

  43. Ah...how well I remember these days. And how glad I am that they are over!! I never do studio photos anymore. Why bother when digital cameras make it so easy to do yourself and so much cheaper!!

The kids look adorable. You can't tell they freaked out at all. And you are gorgeous dear!!
