Candy Corn Oreos

So I have this reputation on liking sweets.

Many of my readers know this.

People who know me in real life know this.

Heck, people who I’ve just met figure it out early on.

So it wasn’t a surprise when I had five people telling me about these new Oreos that were coming out. Candy Corn Oreos. My interest was immediately peaked. I had to find the Oreos and try them.

I’m a big fan of trying new junk foods.

Like the Pumpkie Pie Pop Tarts. Mmmmmm….

Anyway, when I went to the commissary I checked to see if they had the Candy Corn Oreos. They didn’t. I came on Facebook and whined about it. Someone said, “I think they’re exclusive to Target.”

Seeing as I’m at Target every week, I decided to look the next time I was there.

I still couldn’t find the cookies. Where were they?

I startled a worker who was putting out Halloween stuff.

“Are you going to get the Candy Corn Oreos?” I asked sweetly.

He blinked at me.

“Target is getting these Candy Corn Oreos and I must try them,” I said fervently.

His mouth fell open slightly. Did this not compute?

“Ugh,” he finally said as he set out some monster shaped fruit snacks. “I haven’t seen any of those. They sound gross.”

Well, in the words of Stephanie Tanner, how rude.

Yesterday someone posted on one of the coupon groups I’m apart of that Target had marked their backpacks 70% off. Yes, finally! I always get backpacks 70% off for the following year because who wants to pay full price for one? Not me. I figured it would give me another chance to find the cookies.

Back to Target I went.

(I have been three times this week. I have problems. It’s not my fault that they mark things 70% off on DIFFERENT days.)

I found some 70% off backpacks for next year.

Then I wandered the Halloween section hoping to find the Oreos.

Seriously, Target!

I was getting annoyed. I had seen some Facebook friends post pictures of the Oreos that they had found in THEIR Targets. What was wrong with mine?

I headed for the checkout, deflated. No Oreos for me. Ahh well.

Then I spotted a woman chatting with a friend. And what did she have in her hands?

I tried not to scare her when I rushed over. “Excuse me!” I gasped out.

She stared at me with wide eyes. Maybe she thought I was a robber. Only that would be weird, trying to steal right near the checkout. Plus, we weren’t at WalMart.
“Where did you find those cookies?” I asked.

“In the back on an endcap near the freezer section,” she replied, and then her friend giggled.

“Everyone is looking for those cookies!” she trilled.

Really? So I wasn’t the only one?

I hurried into the back area in case everyone was buying all the cookies. What if they were gone?

I made it to the endcap near the freezer and…

…yup! There they were! Why they weren’t by the Halloween stuff is beyond me.

I grabbed a package and stuck it in my cart. Then when I got in line I saw another display for them up front. D’oh! Oh well, I got my cardio in for the day.

So, what do they taste like?

Not candy corn.

BUT. They taste like cake.

And you can’t go wrong with cake.

(Natalie is also a fan. She licked off the cream and was like, “Mmmmmm!” She takes after her Mom.They freaked Tommy out. It was the cream colors, I think. He wouldn’t even try it. He’d be friends with that male Target worker I encountered.)

  1. Oh I saw those and wondered what they tasted like. I love candy corn and I love cake! Yes, cardio is important :)

  2. You crack me up.

I'm a huge fan of the sweets myself but (don't hate me) I think I'm gonna have to agree with the Target worker on this one. Can't wrap my mind around it for some reason.

  3. I know you love your sweets, but I definitely have to agree with the Target worker- those look not so delicious. :-)

  4. Not a fan of candy corn anyway, so this wouldn't be for me. However...I have an English friend who is gaga over candy corn and would love these.

    Alas, no Target over here.

  5. Anything that tastes like cake? I'm all over it. Now I must get me some. I don't generally like Candy Corn itself too much but since you said it didn't taste like candy corn... Ah Ha. Its only a few bucks, right? Okay, Target, look out. Here I come.

  6. I'd definitely love to try them. Hopefully they get them somewhere around here. We don't have a Target yet. But we're getting one!

  7. I wish we could buy them in U.K. I NEED to try these, they sound yummy!

  8. aaaand now I'm going to Target on lunch. Seriously, cake? WHO WOULD SAY NO!?

  9. I have to side with the Target guy - they sound gross to me!

  10. I'm not a fan of candy corn so I'd never think to try them. But after your description, maybe I'll check them out after all.

  11. i'm not a huge fan of candy corn (i knoooow, so weird, haha!), but i do love cake, so i think i'll definitely give this a try. :)

  12. Sorry to say I'm with Tommy on this one. Then again, I am pretty prejudiced against any dessert product that doesn't contain chocolate.

  13. I guess I'm heading to Target today!! Maybe they will finally have my poptarts too!

  14. THey do too look totally gross. How could you feed your kids this kind of crap? (Wating quietly on the side while you toss your cookies in the garbage so I can rescue them, the cookies, not the kids. The kids are on their own)

  15. I'm an Oreo purist snob. The only variation from original I like is double stuff. Of course I would try these new fangled ones, but I can pretty much guarantee original flavor is the only thing to knock my socks off.

Why the hell do they hide the cool food things on end caps?

  16. Here from the Sits Saturday Share. Glad to have found a kindred spirit! My Target store has a Starbucks so you KNOW where I'll be tasting those cookies right? Yep, w/my Pumpkin Spice Frappucino and my Candy Corn Oreos I'm not even leaving the store. Right there in Target I'll be savoring and enjoying the caffeine/sugar rush ride. Oh yeah. Life- it is bueno.

  17. I must confess I have never tried candy corn in my life. and I always feel so "European" when I read about shopping and cooking escapades from American bloggers. :)

  18. I enjoyed your journey to find the Candy Corn Oreos but you are going to have to give me a Stephanie Tanner. They do not sound good to me at all. :-P

    Happy Saturday Sharefest!

  19. MUST get to Target! Although I admit I'm a little disappointed to hear that they dont taste like candy corn. Guess I'll be buying candy corn too. lol

  20. I don't like candy corn at all, but love oreo cakesters, so I may have to give these a try. Isn't that annoying when it;s on sale and sold out!

  21. Don't shoot me, but I don't actually like regular Oreos. And I've never had candy corn (I'm British...) so I'm really struggling to imagine what these are like! :-)

  22. Don't shoot me, but I don't actually like regular Oreos. And I've never had candy corn (I'm British...) so I'm really struggling to imagine what these are like! :-)

  23. I can go through an entire package of the regular ones. Lord only knows what I'd do with these!

  24. Snort!
Target probably has that all on video!

I'm not a fan of any violation of the original OREO. (don't hate)
I don't even like double stuff.
BUT I'll think of you if I ever see the Candy Corn ones.

  25. Wow. I also am a purist when it comes to my Oreos, I can't get behind the weird flavors they come up with. And I especially hate candy corn, wouldn't even try the Candy Corn Kisses when they came out :) But you enjoy to your hearts content because I'm sure there's something I love that you maybe wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole. :)

  26. Hilarious! Target will be seeing me. Wish they sold fried Kool Aid. I haven't had that either. ;-)

  27. Just not sure about these! :) Danica Martin
