I’m sure you’ve all heard about the horrific shooting in Connecticut.
I spent most of Friday in front of my TV, a hand over my mouth in shock as bits of news kept pouring in about it.
My heart squeezed when I heard an entire Kindergarten class was unaccounted for—Kindergarten. Five and six year olds. I have a Kindergartener. Then later it was found that it was actually first grade, but still. Babies.
I just wanted to have a post where we could all keep those families in our thoughts. I can’t even imagine and what makes it worse is that it happened so close to Christmas. There are probably presents wrapped for those now deceased children under the tree that they’ll never get.
I wanted to be sure that people knew that Sandy Hook Elementary was in my thoughts and that while I might post other silly posts this week, that the community is never far from my mind.
We’re with you, Newtown.

I'm absolutely horrified! Those poor poor families!
ReplyDeleteIt broke my heart even further hearing the stories of parents in the firehouse waiting for their children to come. Some parents said while they were very happy their own children showed up, it was very hard for them to see other parents who waited and waited and waited for children that never came.
ReplyDeleteYes, they are on our minds and in our hearts. It is simply beyond comprehension.
ReplyDeleteI was working at a school Friday as staff members picked up snippets of what was going on via the internet. It was a very uncomfortable feeling.
ReplyDeletePraying for those suffering because of one persons inherent evil. Very sad...
Unfathomable. I can't contemplate it too closely, for fear of losing myself in grief.
ReplyDeleteThis hit too close to home in too many ways. My prayers are with them.
ReplyDeleteWell said. Newtown is in our heart.

This tragedy has completely broken my heart. I've had to shy away from the news because it just hurts so much. I cannot imagine the pain they must be feeling. Yes, Newtown - you ARE in our hearts, thoughts and prayers.
ReplyDeleteI cant get that town and that community out of my mind. I cry every time I look at my Christmas tree I cry every time I see their sweet faces on my fb newsfeed.
ReplyDeleteWell said. It is so sad, all we can do is send them our prayers and good wishes.

ReplyDeleteThat's all we can do is pray - pray for the victims' families, pray for peace, pray that something GOOD will come out of this tragedy - possibly stricter gun control laws? possibly more attention to mental illness? Our hearts are with the people of Newton, CT. The Country IS grieving with them.
ReplyDeleteI still cannot wrap my mind around it. It doesn't seem possible!!!
ReplyDeleteFor once, I'm glad we don't get news like you do in the States. We get a mish-mash, random assortment of news programs. I don't think I could handle the non-stop, talking heads on this one.
