I Finally Found A Swimsuit!

I needed a swimsuit. But I didn't know where I should get one. I saw several cute ones at my beloved Target, but none that would fit my body shape correctly.

Then I remembered Modcloth. I never purchased anything from the site, but I always admired their items. (No, this is not a sponsored review.)

Their stuff isn't exactly cheap. Some items are, but the swimsuit I wanted was $89. This is a lot of money to me. When I read magazines and see swimsuit prices, I want to shout, "Who would PAY that?" (One bikini set went like this in a magazine: $45 for bottoms, $60 for the top. I mean WTH? That much for a little material?")

However. My birthday was coming up, and Tom said I could get what I wanted. So I decided to get the swimsuit. It had fabulous reviews.

I went with this one:

Now, my conundrum was this: what size should I get? The page suggested to get a size up from what you normally wear. Well, what I normally wear is size 5/6/7. It depends on the brand. To be safe, I went with a size 10.

The swimsuit arrived about a week later and I thought, "Here we go." I am glad I went with a size 10, because I did have to tug at it a bit.

"I probably shouldn't have eaten all those McDonalds fries!" I said.

I got it up and I liked it. The only problem is I have small boobs. 34 A boobs, to be exact. The swimsuit sort of swims over them, but it's okay, who looks at my boobs anyway? I asked Tommy what he thought of my new swimsuit and he was like, "Hold on, I'm mining," because he was playing Minecraft on his PS4. He eventually looked over and went, "I guess it's okay?"

I'll take it.

I asked him to take a photo of me. He went, "But people might destroy my town." I gave him a Look and he went, "Okay. Fine. Real quick."

I recommend the swimsuit if you like the retro style. Yes my cellulite is visible behind me, but it is what it is. I am not a size 0, nor will I ever be a size 0. I like to eat. I cannot get excited about kale and green smoothies.

I'm ready for the pool this summer.

Are you comfortable in your swimsuit?

  4. That's a really cute bathing suit. Retro and polka dots are my two favorite looks.

I have the opposite problem. I have huge boobs so I wind up having to get one that 29340 sizes too big for my body but fits my chest. So I do that and then wear a cover-up the whole time. It's not that pretty but it works for me.

  5. Cute swimsuit!!

I bought my last swimsuit from Lands End and I love it. Lands End does tend to be pricey, but I watched their sales and got mine for 40% off.

  6. I LOVE your swimsuit!! I think I already gawked at you and that swimsuit on IG :) I purchased a swimsuit at TJ Max that was originally $80, I got it for $30. I have another suit I'm waiting to wear once I get my back in better shape, there's a little extra love on the sides :)

  8. I love your swimsuit - I think polka dots are so cute! Looks great on you. I used to be a buyer for a big department store, and if I told you what retailers pay for swimsuits, you would be even more mad. It's criminal.

  9. Really cute and flattering on you. I definitely couldn't pull off that retro style. But you do it beautifully :)

No matter what shape or number on the scale, I'm never 100% comfortable, but getting there....

  15. That is adorable on you! I gave in and bought a new swimsuit today too....but I plan to use it for swimming at the gym, so I went for coverage instead of style. Swimsuitsforall.com has some really cute suits and good sales too. :-)

  16. Super cute!!!! I just got a boob job so I haven't bought a new swimsuit yet. I tried on a bikini top I had that used to be too big for me before my surgery...and I looked like a stripper. Guess it's time to do some shopping.

  20. I'm laughing because I'm so tired and read the Tommy part as being Tom and I was like, "No, Tom! You have to give better wife compliments!" But then I realized my mistake.
Modcloth does have good swimsuits. I always wondered about them.

Also, my MIL loves kale. I tolerate it, barely, but when I was pregnant with Scarlet, I couldn't even LOOK at it. My MIL was going on and on about how she loves it and I said, "Well, I guess it's ok. I've gotten my taste for it back a little, but it's not like.. ice cream." Dead serious she said, "I like it better than ice cream."

  22. I LOOOVE Modcloth. I've never owned one of their swimming suits before, but half of my closet is from there. I also just bought my first expensive suit from Shabby Apple. It's vintage style and I love it, and thanks to Christmas money I could afford it.
