Hey, It's Okay Tuesday!

I got this idea from Glamour magazine. They have a section called Hey, It’s Okay and will list a bunch of things to be okay about. You're welcome to join in and do something like this on your blog. Doesn't have to be on a Tuesday either. Just make sure you link up and that the post you link up is a Hey, It's Okay Post. Grab the button if you'd like!

--To be excited that my post was shared on Scary Mommy. It's the one where I discuss why teenagers are scarier than threenagers. You can see it here.

--To hope the weather will be okay on Halloween. It's showing rain and only 63 at the moment. Bring out the umbrellas. We're still getting candy.  Well. The kids. But they'll share since I gave them life and all.

--To be thrilled that Netflix is going to bring back Gilmore Girls! I love the show. (You can read about that here.)

--To hope the parent teacher conferences that I have to go to on Friday go okay.

--To have loved the book I got to review called Daddy Flies. It's written by a military spouse, so check it out! Read my review here.

--To have gasped during The Walking Dead. More about that on Thursday.

--To be bummed that my friend Jennifer is moving away. It's a common thing for military families to have to say goodbye to friends--it sucks.

--To have made this because Natalie keeps asking.

If you're curious, I told her a virgin was "a nice person." Someone else suggested that I say "an innocent person" so I might do that. She's 8, so I'm not ready to go into the bow-chicka-bow-bow talk with her yet. My son, who is 13, knows though.

  2. I've never watched The Walking Dead, but after everything I've read from people's posts on Facebook, it was a huge nailbiter and shocker at the end. I guess Natalie asking what a Virgin is, is coming at the right time for sure since it is a scary question and it's Halloween - bwaha ha ha (insert evil laugh here) I've never watched Gilmore Girls a day in my life, but now that it's on Netflix, I may have to look into it this time around and see what all of the fuss is about. Have a great day! :)

  3. Very cool about Scary Mommy.
Sorry to hear about your friend. I know how it feels when a close friend moves away. That's happened many times. And I've also been that friend who moved.
Better to explain what a virgin is now than have your child be confused by their friends like I was when I was a kid, thanks to Madonna's song. I wasn't sure if it was good or bad to be a virgin or what it even meant! And I was about your daughter's age.

  4. the 6 yr old broke her leg, so halloween is going to be interesting. she is insisting on trick or treating. she's too little for crutches so the costume will be modified.

  5. I'm so excited about Gilmore Girls too! Especially since I just rewatched the whole series! That's funny about Hocus Pocus!

  6. Oh haha we turned on TWD right at the last half. So glad I'm not invested in that show anymore. But I do have lots of thoughts on it. Looking forward to Thursday's post!!

  7. I'm praying the weather outlook gets better for Halloween here as well. I LOVE seeing the little trick or treaters. Last year it was so cold and rainy that we hardly had anyone come by.

  8. I recently watched the entire Gilmore Girls series (thanks to Jen Hatmaker) and I LOVED IT!!! I finished the day it was announced Netflix was bringing them back. So very glad I didn't have to be sad that it was over.

    Very cool about Scary Mommy.

  12. Sweet about Scary Mommy. I'm about to read me some Scary Mommy. Did you submit something or did they just pick it up?

Gilmore girls, the first time around, found me conflicted between Rory and Lorelei.

What will happen now that I'm ... old?

  15. OMG....the Walking Dead - I need therapy, group talk sessions with abundant Kleenex and a hug. no no no... I don't think it's true. I've become a delusional fan and now shamed myself. I haven't introduced my kids to Hocus Pocus yet - maybe this is the year. I told my son when he was younger and the word came up in the Christmas song that it was a woman who had not had a baby..... Do.Not.Do.That. because when they say it to someone who has no children, it's really embarrassing. Trust.

  16. ARgh!! Just when Netflix won't work for me anymore here... So want to see the Gilmore Girls... :(

  17. Wait, what's a virgin?
    Just kidding.
We have conferences tomorrow and I'm actually nervous! Like I might need herbal spray or something beforehand. Sheesh.

  18. One of the few good things about the kids growing up - no more conferences! Everyone in my house was depressed about the Walking Dead yesterday.

  19. I like Okay, Tuesday! I'll have to make my own. Sorry to hear your friend is moving. I know how that goes.

I was a kid when Madonna's "Like a Virgin" came out. I had no idea what "virgin" meant; I just liked the song. I'm sure someone told me what it meant, but it really has little meaning without the context. I think I finally "got it" as a teenager.
