When you bring home a newborn, no matter how much you are prepared, it can be a whirlwind. There is crying (sometimes from the baby AND you). There is confusion (how do the snaps go?). But there is also pure joy.
We had certain things ready to go when our children were born. There are many diapers.com coupon codes to help save money because you will be spending quite a bit of it. Kids are not cheap. Here are some items that helped us out a lot.
1. Diapers. I mean, duh. You can do cloth diapers, or disposable. We always went with disposable. We generally went with Pampers because it never gave our babies a rash and there were minimal explosions. (You'll experience those. Sorry.) Also, grab some wipes!
2. A safe carseat. I also liked clipping toys to the carseat to help minimize crying. (There would sometimes still be crying.) Parents Central has a lot of helpful tips about car seats.
3. A bouncer. Some people might argue that they aren't necessary, but I used mine a lot. I could never baby wear, so my kids were in theirs quite often.
4. A crib with bedding. Sometimes people have their babies sleep in a bassinet beside their bed for the first few months. My son immediately took to his crib. My daughter did not. She would only sleep if someone was holding her for the first few months or else she'd scream the house down. She eventually went into her crib though.
5. Easy to change clothes. My daughter wore a lot of sleepers or onesies.
Having a newborn can be chaotic and tiring, but it's worth it in the end.

Explosions are good times!
ReplyDeleteWe haven't had our first child yet, but are currently trying!
ReplyDeleteI really liked Baby legs, which are basically baby leg warmers. It was so much easier to change a diaper without taking their pants or bottoms off every time but it still kept their little legs warm.
ReplyDeleteOo those would come in handy!
DeleteOur baby girl is a month old today!! I loved the potato sack nightgowns. They are so easy for middle of the night diaper changes.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I think I had some of those as well.
DeleteI remember needing food with a newborn. Food for us! Somehow it was impossible to cook dinner?!
ReplyDeleteI'll have to tell my friend about this. Always good saving money on diapers when you have kids, right!
ReplyDeleteWhen I brought my newborn home I guess what helped me was having my family around to help me and my brother & sisters since I lived with my parents (:
ReplyDeleteHaving my husband home from work definitely helped!
ReplyDeletepacifers! We have a new baby and he's already addicted to pacifiers. A good breast pump and a baby carrier would be on my list as well.
ReplyDeleteMy mom helped out alot with my three older daughters
ReplyDeletePampers is our go to! They are working great for Emmy so far. Having Kyle home for 10 days after she was born was wonderful!
ReplyDeleteMy mom helped me out. And the baby swing helped a lot too since my son had colic and he liked the motion.
ReplyDeleteI don't have any kids of my own yet, but I know when I do, I want to live near my mama so she can be there to help me out!
ReplyDeleteI've been told a bouncer seat is a must. With two on the way I have to imagine that it will help when they are both screaming to be able to do my best to console them one at a time!
ReplyDeleteI had my first child last year and after a c-section and a husband who had to go right back to work, it was not easy but we are moms and even though we sometimes have help, we are strong when we dont.
ReplyDeleteI still remember fondly the joy of having my first born, but those diapers!! Hahah, don't miss changing those.
ReplyDeleteThe post is just fantastic! Have a nice day:)

The Moby wrap was so helpful with my first. I preferred a ring sling with my second.
ReplyDeleteOmg love diapers.com!!!! I swear you can buy anything you can think of baby wise on the site!
ReplyDeleteThere's so many things to think about when having a baby. I don't have kids so the whole thing seems really overwhelming to me!
ReplyDeleteHaving some diapers stashed away helped - but next kid I will have more freezer meals will help!
ReplyDeleteI'd probably buy diapers on diapers.com! For my sisters! I love doing that.
ReplyDeleteWe haven't brought our newborn home yet... we are currently trying to have our first child!

ReplyDeleteSwaddling seemed to help a lot with my newborns.
ReplyDeleteMy mom coming to help me was the best. The best product I had was the My Brest Friend nursing pillow.
ReplyDeleteI swaddled my baby, it was such great help learning that!
ReplyDeleteWill definitely keep this post in mind when we have kids. Still in the works of planning :)
ReplyDeletePampers do seem to be the choice most people go with, so they must be great! I think a bouncer is important, I personally I used mine a lot when I was a baby!

ReplyDeleteAw, these pictures are so sweet!
ReplyDeleteI don't have kids but will share with my friend who became a new mommy last month!
ReplyDeleteNo kiddos for me, but this is great advice!!
ReplyDeleteVery sweet pictures. Great advice for new mommies. Kids are so expensive so it's nice to have tips to save money on what you really need.
ReplyDeleteSuch sweet pictures! I remember diaper days. Some fun memories as a first time mom.
ReplyDeleteOh I have to say my family was so helpful...along with our swing that plays lullabies!
ReplyDeleteHaving lots of swaddle blankets and a rocking bassinet were a big help for us.
ReplyDeleteAgreed on all of the items on your list!
ReplyDeleteWe haven't had one just yet, but I would be giving this to a friend who just did! And she said sleep is what helped her. Whenever she could get it!!
ReplyDeleteMy mother in law was an amazing help when I had twins. If you are asking about equipment then I think a baby monitor is a must have.
ReplyDeletei agree with the baby legs lady. I loved the baby leg warmers. Super cute and super durable.
ReplyDeleteAlso, a swing. My daughter wouldn't sleep anywhere but in hers.
