Is Memory Maker At Walt Disney World Worth It?

Memory Maker. It's the photography service Disney World offers when you visit. With it, you get magic shots, photos and videos on rides, unlimited photos from the PhotoPass photographers around the parks, plus more.

But it's $169 if you order in advance, or $199 if you don't. That's expensive. But it means you can download all your photos. Otherwise you have to pay for each one, which can get pricey.

(Military families: you can get yours for $99! Just show an ID card at guest services.)

So is Memory Maker worth it?

Well.

I think so. When my daughter did the Jedi Training Academy, there was a photographer there to take shots. This is helpful, because normally you have family members surrounding a small space, and people can get in your way.

Plus, you know how moms are rarely in photos because they are busy taking them? At Disney World, I'm in the shots!

And I would have missed this sweet shot of Natalie seeing herself for the first time at the Bippidi Boppidi Boutique.

A photographer also caught Natalie dancing with Minnie:

And Goofy:

And when my teenager hugged Mickey, well, we got that too:

Plus the Magic Shots are pretty awesome:

And when we ate dinner at Be Our Guest, a photographer captured Natalie with the Beast:

There are so many amazing shots that we've gotten from PhotoPass photographers. They're all over the parks, so you'll get tons of photos.

Sometimes you even capture a magic moment. The photographer here told us to wait for the opening fireworks for this shot:

And it's always fun to capture moments with favorite characters:

Plus you can be silly! And I was during Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party.

When we met Kylo Ren, he was intimidating.

I absolutely loved this magic shot with my son. We're battling Maleficent!

I look back at this photo and smile. We had such an amazing time on our mother/son trip:

And Edna LOVED my ears.

Plus, I giggle whenever I see this photo from the Seven Dwarves Mine Train. I'm a wimp on coasters, I won't lie:

See? Here's me on Slinky Dash. I'm sweaty and being a total baby:

I think Memory Maker is worth it. Yes, you can also hand the photographers your phone, but it's not the same. You miss out on magic shots and ride photos! I wouldn't have such unattractive yet hilarious photos of myself without Memory Maker! Plus, sometimes phones don't always work properly. Or you run out of batteries.

Will I always get Memory Maker? Yes! It means I can easily download all my memories.

So do you get Memory Maker?

  1. When you used to be able to share the photo pass (add more than one number to an account) I used to split them with people. Since they stopped allowing that I haven't paid for it.

  2. It looks like you had a fabulous time! I can definitely see how this could be worthwhile, if for no other reason than to be able to relax and enjoy the experience, without having to try to capture those moments.

  6. I wouldn't mind getting some cute family photos from this! Not having to take all of the pictures myself would be a big plus.

  7. I have never been to Disneyland so this is the first time I'm hearing about the Memory Maker. For me, it's very expensive and I am not sure I would pay for this service. BUt that's just me. :)

  8. This is a great thing to have for Disney. It would help with saving all those memories.

  9. I had no idea that you could download all of your photos. That alone to me makes it a great price.

  10. We lost our camera at Disney World and it was so disappointing to not have any photos of our amazing vacation. If we had done something like this, we would have those photos! (And we wouldn't have lost the camera.)

  11. How fun are these sweet memories! I'll keep this in mind for when my kiddos are older and we go to Disney some day!

  12. Wow...you had such a great time. These memories are going to last with you forever. No amount of pictures are ever less. Life is too short to not take many pictures :)

  13. Are you not allowed to take in a camera? I personally think that's a lot of money.

  14. I haven't heard about this before, sounds like a fun experience for the family to enjoy.

  17. I certainly think it would be worth while! It looks like fun. Unsure if they have something similar in DL Paris. If so I'd definitely consider taking my future kids there.

  23. Wow, I can see why you wouldn't want to pay for it. But at the same time I'm the kind of person who would say if you're going to do Disney, do Disney! Just splurge, it's not like you're going every year.

  24. Going to Disney is actually a great place to get so many memories and I think you did very well capturing all of these moments.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Yes indeed! It is cheaper then have a professional photographer follow you around for a day. I definitely will be making sure to purchase it next time we go.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Yes! I completely agree! When we went to Disney at the end of October, we learned real quick how awesome this was! You don’t have to worry so much about if you caught a good pic with the characters, etc ❤️

  27. What lovely photos! Helps relive the memories! I have never been, so expensive for a family of 6 to fly there and stay!

  28. Oh wow this is SO COOL. One day I would LOVE to be able to bring my nephew here. Thanks so much for sharing this with us!

  29. This is definitely so cool. I have to laugh because I am also such a wimp on roller coasters as well. You are so right that phones can run out of battery so they cannot be dependable to work when you need them to do so.

  30. I would definitely do this--especially since we are military and that price is amazing. Over the years, I learned I was rarely in the pictures because I was the one taking the pictures. So this would help that situation out greatly.

  32. This is a great review on Memory Maker. I have never used it, but I take a million pictures on my own!! However, this might be worth a try on our next trip!!

    ReplyDelete
  33. We didn't do the Memory Maker when we went to Disney Last. I thought it wouldn't be worth it - but you really made me second guess that! You're right, us moms are almost Never in the photos

    ReplyDelete
  34. This seems worth it! Especially if you get to be in the pictures. My Mom friends have a million pictures of their kids and husbands, but hardly any with them. I think that in itself pays for it!

    ReplyDelete
  35. These are amazing memories! Can't wait to have these with our girls!

    ReplyDelete
  36. I haven't done this yet, but I can see the value in it. I'm one of those moms who is always behind the camera.

    ReplyDelete
  37. My kids have never been to any Disney. I think the memory maker is absolutely worth it.

  39. I haven't used it yet, but I do love all of those little moments. These pictures are always fun to see. I'd get it... I may, in the near future.

  40. I wasn't even aware this was a service offered! I would absolutely pay for this! It means that I can spend more time making the memories than taking the photos and I can even be in them! Which is a huge bonus if you only have like 2 pictures with you and your family in it! Plus the shots will likely come out 100 times better than the ones I will get. I'm a perfectionist so I often times will make my family take the same shot over and over until I have a good one.

    ReplyDelete
  41. This seems like a really neat service for people who want to be in the moments instead of on their phones or taking videos the whole time!

    ReplyDelete
  42. a sit down at a photography studio cost just as much these days and you have to cram as much as you can into like 20min to and hour. This programs sounds awesome! And the military discount is great too!

    ReplyDelete
  43. AWW! What a PERFECT trip! I can't wait to take my littles! Thanks for the insight!

  44. For most people a trip to Disney is a once in a lifetime splurge. I think preserving the memories is well worth the extra cost.
