My kids are teens, so yes, they might have chuckled a bit when they saw the sign.
"Haha, hot weiners," my daughter Natalie said.
We decided to try out Coney Island Hot Weiners. They're located about 5 minutes from my mom and dad's house in Schertz, Texas.
We love hot dogs, so we figured we should try it out. And if hot dogs aren't your thing, they have hamburgers, tamales, frito pies, and other goodies.
The prices are fair. We went for some combos:
It's small inside but all the workers are friendly:

We opted to sit outside. Sometimes there's even live entertainment.
I ended up with the chili cheese hot dog:
It was tasty. If you don't like onions, they won't be added. Natalie opted for a plain hot dog and just added ketchup. The fries seemed to be well salted.
If you're looking for a quick meal option, check out Coney Island! Even the NuiMos were impressed. They are open Monday-Saturday (closed Sundays) from 1045-8. So if you're near Schertz, Texas, be sure to check them out.

We are known as coney (or hot dog) joint, but we are actually a chili restaurant, because we put our chili on all of the menu items you mentioned and others, such as our baked potatoes or 3-way chili (spaghetti, covered in chili (beans are optional), cheese and onions, served with crackers. ReplyDeleteI didn't realize Texas had a Coney Island Hot dog stand. My friend is from New York state so when I first saw Coney Island in the title I thought you had been to NYC area. Everything looked so wonderfully delicious.
