If you're looking for an unique gift idea, pick up The Grumpy Octopus. He's perfectly cranky and isn't impressed with much. He especially isn't impressed with us.
But it's okay! We're impressed with him. And he totally reminded me of a teenager. Here's why:
1. Like a teenager, The Grumpy Octopus always looks annoyed.
Yup. Annoyed:
2. The Grumpy Octopus is also not impressed with much. He did not care about Natalie's Fairy Garden.
Teens are also not impressed with much. That's a gorgeous tulip field:
3. "How was your day?" I asked The Grumpy Octopus who replied, "Fine." When I attempted further conversation I either got grunts or silence. He did not even care when Natalie said hi. She looked just about as grumpy as he did:
4. Max tried to befriend The Grumpy Octopus. The Grumpy Octopus did not care.
Teens also can behave as though they do not care if you attempt to be kind. Like when I got Natalie this awesome large Minnie bow. She did not like:
5. The Grumpy Octopus was not interested in any more photos.
Sometimes teenagers will not cooperate for photos either:
So see? The Grumpy Octopus is just like a teen. So he'd also make a fun graduation gift idea for a teen. Because odds are, his face is what your teen looks like 90% of the time. You can buy a Grumpy Octopus here.

If you buy one, let me know!
Perhaps all the Grumpy Octopus needs is a hug? And while at it, how about giving the lovely teeanger (Natalie) a hug too? Maybe that's all they both need, but do not know how to ask for one....
ReplyDeleteI really like your blog. It puts a smile on my face. :)
Thank you! I'll try with the hug but they can growl if they aren't in the mood to be touched ;)

ReplyDeleteThe grumpy octopus is so cute, even if it's grumpy :) This would be great for my tween, she has all the emotions, especially grumpy. LOL
ReplyDeleteLOL! For one, our daughters are the same age, same bday... and all this applies to my daughter too. Although I will say I have no successfully captured as much grumpiness on camera as my daughter is much more elusive! Let me tell you though, that there are some ruined vacay photos.. HAHA!

Sorry, but a truly grumpy teen, or maybe because mine is over 18, wouldn't even let you take a photo! I now have to be a dad blogger without the use of any of my child's photos! He is a major grump!
ReplyDeleteAs a mom to teens, I can totally relate to this.
ReplyDeleteI'm getting every single one of my nieces and nephews one of these for Christmas. Oh my goodness, this looks just like some of their faces.
ReplyDeleteThis is so funny! I am so lucky my teen isn't a grumpy octopus. But it may be a boy thing!
ReplyDeleteTeenagers.... they are something aren't they? I know I have mentioned before I raised 10 children so I know the teen years very well. Seemed 1 or more were always grumpy. lol Love the octopus.
ReplyDeleteLOL! This article and these pictures made me laugh so much! Love the comparison!
ReplyDeleteHa, love this. He is a cute little guy isn't he. So much like a teenager that's for sure.
ReplyDeleteAs a mom of 5, I love this post! Teenagers can be so grumpy at times. I can still remember being a grumpy teen myself. Grumpy Octopus is adorable.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a cute post. I had never heard of the grumpy octopus, but I can totally see how it is like a teenager!
ReplyDeleteI don't have a teen (yet), but I'm sure this would make a great gift. Being a teenager is not easy, so a grumpy companion might help.
