They do have professional photographers available to book for a private session when you're on board. It's called the CSL Portrait Experience and you can reserve one by calling 407-939-1800 60 days from your stay. Appointments fill up fast so I recommend doing it as close to that 60 day mark as possible.
If you're going before October 17th the price will be $99. It is a 30 minute session and you'll get as many photos as they can take in that time. You have a photographer plus a person who helps with lighting as it can be dark in some areas.
After October 17th the price is jumping to $399. Is it ridiculous? Yes. I think Disney's thought process is that you're already paying a pretty penny to be on the Galactic Starcruiser and only charging $99 for a session was too cheap.
However, I loved the photos we got.
It is a great way to get some Christmas card shots in. You can wear whatever you'd like. Natalie's dress was ironed by the way but the material looked wrinkled.
Our photographer was friendly and was ready right when it was our appointment time. He did individual shots, group shots, smaller group shots...
We could take shots wherever we wanted. Well. So long as it was available. But most areas were.
We scheduled our appointment at 230 on Day 2. This is when most people will still be on their voyage to Batuu so the ship isn't as crowded.
If you book during other times, there are spots you might not be able to get into. Like the bridge, which is where we were above since there is normally Bridge Training going on.
However, some people get lucky if they book on Day 1 in the afternoon. A character on the ship might be nearby and jump in the pictures. It didn't happen to us as they didn't come out until after 4, but I have heard that it can occur! On the downside though, there will be more passengers wandering around.
If you have ideas on how you want photos to be, let the photographer know. It's YOUR session. If they are able to do it, they will.
The Sublight Lounge wasn't busy so we got several shots in there. I found my outfit on Shop Disney.
The 30 minutes go fast. We were given a 5 minute warning and asked if there was any last minute shots that we truly wanted.
The spots where we did our photos were the Sublight Lounge, the Climate Simulator room, the pod that took us to the ship, the Bridge, and right in front of the Crown of Corellia where you dine.
Some people have shots in the Engineering Room but they were doing something with the Lothcats so we couldn't go. (Lothcats are what they refer to kids 7 and under. There are cute activities for them. I believe there was a Porg activity happening.)
Tommy had a suggestion for one of his photos. "Can I look evil?"
One of my favorite shots was this:
This is us using the Force:
Yes, you can be extra silly too. This is me steering the ship:
Do I think the professional photoshoot is worth it? Yes, for $99. Would I pay $399? No.
However, if you can afford the up charge, by all means, do it! We did have a ton of fun shooting the photos and we got some pretty good ones. Learn more about the session here.
If you wanted to save, take your own photos in these areas. The only spot where you needed special permission was the pod. The bridge is generally open if there isn't a class going on. Those usually occur in the evenings.
Would you do a professional photoshoot on the Galactic Starcruiser?

ReplyDeleteThey are great photos. And actually at $399, not a bad deal. My daughter pays that for a 1/2 hour session in Chicago with a decent photographer.
