What We Saw At Howl-O-Scream San Antonio

We always love going to Howl-O-Scream at SeaWorld. There's haunted houses, scary zones to walk in with spooky characters, bars, plus so much more. We go every year! I was invited this year to go behind-the-scenes before Howl-O-Scream started so that was incredible.

Howl-O-Scream goes until October 29th, so you have plenty of time to check it out. If you aren't into the spooks, there is SeaWorld Spooktacular where kids can get candy from nice characters from 1115-315. There's also a cool maze and other fun spots.

Here's the map:

Since I got to go behind-the-scenes, I saw the scare actors getting their makeup on. It's a pretty cool experience and the makeup artists are talented. When you see the characters out, the makeup is impressive. They truly go above and beyond:

There's also a show called Monster Stomp and we got to see the rehearsals for that. Go see it! The actors put in so much work:

If the scares are getting to you and you need booze, there are bars:

There is cool decorations. This skeleton mermaid is fabulous:

Sea World was kind and gave me one of these skeleton necklaces. It interacted with certain scare zones and I loved all the features:

At around 650, the characters start to emerge to the haunted houses and scare zones. This headless guy was neat:

This lady kept emitting screams. She's me before I have my Diet Coke:

This sailor was roaming around the show Siren's Song asking for help:

Make sure you watch Siren's Song! It's only about 15 minutes and it's fantastic. The women basically kick ass. There's singing, dancing, and possession. Plus the costumes are spectacular. I believe the show goes on 3 times during the night.

Howl-O-Scream starts at 7 and be sure to pick up a Fear Pass to skip the lines for the haunted houses. You can check out all the different ones here.  They're all currently on sale so be sure to purchase some before prices return to normal.

This was the Atlantis: The Cursed Chasm house and it was our favorite. There were neat fog bubbles towards the end and we loved this starfish even though he ran up and made us scream soon after I snapped this:

The Zombie Horde was an open walk through:

Be sure to check out all the neat photo ops:

The Nightmare Midway frightened me a bit because of the clowns, but Natalie loved them. Their costumes were beautiful:

Be sure to check out Howl-O-Scream! As I mentioned, it starts at 7 on select nights. We had the best time as we always do.

Everyone involved in putting this together is talented. I screamed over 10 times, I own't even lie. Those scare actors are behind you before you even know it.

  13. This is perfect for the Halloween season. It is nice you were able to go behind-the-scenes. We get to appreciate their craft more after seeing the effort that they put in.

By the way, I am also scared of clowns so, that's something that I need to check if I have the courage to see.
