Valentine's Day is almost here!
And we're doing....
...nothing.
I mean, let's be honest, it's a Hallmark holiday. And really, you should be showing you love your partner all year long, not just because it's expected on a day.
There are many reasons why we don't go out, and here's some of them:
1. It's too crowded. Restaurants are swarming with people. The staff is tired. It just makes for an unpleasant dining experience. We'd rather wait for the next day.
2. Gridlock traffic. This goes with the one above, but it's still true. We're in Texas, so traffic is already horrible, but add Valentine's Day to the mix and it's even worse. It can take 1 hours to go a few miles. Pass.
3. Things are overpriced. Seriously. Sometimes places boost costs of things because it's Valentine's Day. Wait a day later and save some cash.
4. People are crazy. Tempers can be up due to gifts not be received, so arguments can break out. I'd rather not be around that. I love in Texas. People have guns.
I think I'll just be picking up fast food for dinner and we'll call it a night. Oh, and my daughter wants to hang out with her boyfriend so I'm assuming I'll be the taxi.
Do you do anything for Valentine's Day?
My husband used to work in restaurants so we too avoid this day. We went out yesterday.
ReplyDeleteWe're all about showing love year-round too. Plus, dealing with crowds, traffic, and inflated prices? No thanks! A cozy night in with some fast food sounds like the perfect plan.
ReplyDeleteYou aren't by yourself. We will be in chilling under the fire and watching movies. People really are crazy now and days, and the food prices are super, duper , crazy.
ReplyDeleteIt's refreshing to see someone else who values the importance of showing love and appreciation all year round, not just on a specific day because society says so. Celebrating love should be personal, meaningful, and not dictated by a calendar date.
ReplyDeleteThese are all really valid reasons not to go out for Valentine's day, and honestly celebrating it, if you're going to, on the day of is overrated. The day(s) after is where it's at! Everything Valentine's is just immediately highly discounted, lol!
ReplyDeletehonestly we don't do anything for valentine day, Some time we pick up some dinner and eat together as a family. Thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteI am also totally ok not going out on Valentine's Day. Especially this year, being on a Wednesday. I'd rather stay home and be cozy, and go out over the weekend.
ReplyDeletewe never go out on Valentine's Day or any other such event-day (mother's day fathers day etc).. staying home is the best during these times!
ReplyDeleteSame here we do not go out on Valentines Day aside from our favorite restaurant is always fully booked. And also both of us are working so we decided to make dinner at home instead.
ReplyDeleteThis is us too!!!! We don't bother either as the food prices get bumped up as do those for flowers. I hate that restaurants can be crowded too, it doesn't make it as enjoyable as it would be on a normal day.
ReplyDeleteCouldn't agree more! We love to celebrate V-day at home by watching movies and eating good food 😍❤️.
ReplyDeleteEverything Enchanting 🙂
Agree with you. Staying in and enjoying each other's company in the comfort of your own home sounds like the perfect way to celebrate your love and connection.
ReplyDeleteNot as grand as before but, I agree with all of your reasons. LOL!
ReplyDeleteIt's true!! We also don't go out on Valentine's Day for the same reasons. It's crowded everywhere.
ReplyDeleteI can totally relate! We also don't go out on Valentine's Day. It's just too crowded. After all, we go on dates all the time. And yes, everything is overpriced. It's crazy.
ReplyDeleteWe went out last night and getting a table was so easy. I agree going out on V Day is a pain!
ReplyDeleteWe're not going out either because restaurants are going to be packed. We used too, though. We'll just order takeout. -LYNNDEE
