Bloody Band-Aid Graham Crackers

My daughter Natalie was eating a graham cracker one day and was like, "Hey, these could be band-aids if something was in the middle."

So while she was in school I made these to surprise her with when she got home. Yes, I presented them like this for the added spook effect.

She was like, "What are those?" and I went, "Uh, band-aids. With BLOOD."

She gave me her best Annoyed Tween Look and claimed they didn't look that neat. (You know that scene in This Is Us where Beth says her girls are getting "meaner by the day?" I feel like this is Natalie sometimes.) Natalie was all, "I mean, you didn't make the frosting very SQUARE, so they look weird." She added, "But I'll still eat them," as though she were doing me a favor.

She has a point. But oh well. I've always said I am NOT a Pinterest mom. I don't craft well, and I burn things constantly. So you Pinterest Moms can make these neater.

They are easy to make. All you need is graham crackers, vanilla frosting, and fake blood. Or you can use the red gel if you can't find any. This fake blood was tricky to use. It sort of came out in weird drips. (It tasted kind of like cherry.)

You can make them neater, as my daughter says. Her friends thought they were cool, so if you're looking for something quick and easy to bring to a children's Halloween party, these will work. If anything, the kids will think the fake blood is cool.

BLOODY Band-Aid Graham Crackers

Ingredients:

Graham Crackers
Vanilla frosting
Fake blood or red gel

Instructions:

1. Break apart the graham crackers.

2. Spread vanilla frosting in the middle. Don't just slap it on like I did or else they come out sloppy.

3. Spray on fake blood or add some red gel. If you want to get super gross, get some green gel for pus.

4. Serve! Hope that you don't have a picky tween who claims you didn't do it neatly.

  2. First of all, I love the show This Is Us and that line was great. Second, this idea for a cute and very easy Halloween treat is awesome. I will have to do this for my boys. For some reason they think it is hilarious to need a bandaid even when they don't need one. Maybe this will satisfy them!
