There's No 4th of July Celebration For Me This Year

Normally I do a cute 4th of July photoshoot with my kids. I get them the red, white, and blue clothes and accessories. I have fun 4th of July snacks. But not this year.

No.

This year after the rights of women have been stripped, I am not feeling like celebration. Oh, I'll probably watch the fireworks my neighborhood sets off every year but with each boom I'll think, "I am embarrassed to be an American." And I know people are like "all that was passed was to allow each State to make their own law." No State should ever be able to tell a woman what she can do with her body. It's still wrong. And since this is passed, what comes next? Will birth control be taken away?

Oh sure, many won't agree with me. I've seen the pro-life comments. Most of them say "ladies, your rights haven't been stripped away. Practice safe sex," as though it's all on us. You might have heard of the story of the 10-year-old who was raped and got pregnant. She was denied an abortion in Ohio and had to be taken to Indiana to have one. Some people might say, "Oh, but she murdered a baby," and refuse to do a thing about the thousands of children in foster care. These are people I do not understand.

So no. I will not be celebrating 4th of July this year. And I have to hope that something is coming, a battle, a fight from all the women who feel wronged. I will do what I can on my end and continue to speak out on all my platforms.

I have faith in future generations. They will make this right. I know they will.

  2. I agree with you. And I've heard that it's up to the states argument. I honestly don't want my state making any decisions for me or any woman!

  3. But you were ok letting the government decide? Tell me you don’t understand without telling me you don’t understand 😉😆

  5. I have to say I completely agree with you. I think that all women should have a choice and this is just backwards thinking.

  6. I’m not American but of course I agree with you. It’s not even a matter of abortion. It’s a matter of women rights which enrages me so badly!

  7. I understand what are you saying and I think that almost every woman on this Earth agrees with you. I am feeling that we are going back in history and this is very sad. We are talking about America, about Liberty - it's an example for the entire world. I can say that everyone from entire world is watching now America and American women! We are with you!

  12. No one should have decisions made for them about their bodies. No one.

  13. It is such an odd time in history. It makes it hard to be happy about things when there is so much to worry about.

  14. That's a good enough reason not to celebrate the 4th of July. I admire you for taking a stand.

  15. I couldn't agree more! You're right, no one can tell a woman what she can do with her body.
