Hey, It's Okay Tuesday!

I got this idea from Glamour magazine. They have a section called Hey, It’s Okay and will list a bunch of things to be okay about. I think I’m going to do this every Tuesday now. You're welcome to join in and do something like this on your diary. Doesn't have to be on a Tuesday either.

Hey, It's Okay....

To love having the bed to yourself.

To be ready for Fall TV to begin.

To exercise for one day and then promise that you’ll do it every day and then, well, don’t.

To occasionally feed your kids Lunchables. (There was a big to do about this awhile back. I guess some mothers were horrified that Lunchables were given to children. Oh no. The horror.)

To not really understand what the Spanish lady down the street is saying to you because of her thick accent (but nodding along like you do—hopefully I don’t agree to something scary like hosting a Pampered Chef party.)

To still be wishing that an agent will like your book. I’d be an easy client, I swear. And I’d send gift baskets as a thank you. With chocolate.

To not wear makeup while Skyping. The last time I mentioned Skype people were all, “Oh, I couldn’t do that as I wouldn’t want to put on makeup.” You don’t have to put on makeup. Or wait, am I supposed to be putting on makeup?

To really wish people would take music off their blogs. It’s still startling me and most of the time, I really don’t like the music. I usually leave without commenting on those blogs because it’s hard for me to form a thought with Britney Spears blaring in the background.

To be all ready to send your son off to third grade tomorrow. I’ll miss the kid, don’t get me wrong, but the fighting with his sister and the questions about pubic hair is just getting to be too much.

To be equally ready for Natalie to start preschool on the 30th. She only goes a couple of hours and believe you me, I will enjoy those couple of hours. I plan on skipping around the house going, “I’m free,” and shopping in peace. I may tear up on the first day but I’m not one of those parents who wallow about being lonely. I mean, I may be able to READ again. READ!!

  2. Yeah, the music on the blogs. I don't get it. I always mute it. So stop it!

  3. I HATE when blogs have music! It always makes me jump and screech out like a little girl! As for makeup on Skype - we video chat with my husband's parents all the time and I never wear makeup - yet I usually avoid being on camera too!

  4. I feed my kids Lunchables occasionally. They LIKE them which means I can make grown-up food for me and they won't cry when they look at their plates. It's a win win as far as I'm concerned.

  5. What's wrong with Lunchables? Delicious!

  7. Is it cool to sign up for a marathon after a few drinks thinking you could totally train for it properly with a brand new baby and a two year old?

    Yeah not into that music!

Free baby carrier on my site if anyone needs one:

  9. I miss DH when he's away but I do love being able to hog the bed and not have him nudge me awake because my leg is on his side.

  10. All good ones. That one girl's, too. Made me chuckle.

Thank you for mentioning the music.
I've dumped coffee on myself before in fright.

And...may I add... it's okay to lie to the children when they get home from school asking, "Did you MISS us terribly???" with: "Yes. Yes, absolutely, my darlings. Every second. Totally lost without you."

  12. I always have the bed to myself. That's the beauty of a boyfriend who works overnight :)

I also hate the music on blogs. HATE IT. I also usually leave without commenting.

  13. Enjoy your precious me time! Yay! Music on blogs doesn't really bother me. Because I leave my speakers muted when I read blogs! LOL!

  16. That meme is a good idea! I may just start doing that, and linking it back to you of course!

  17. That made me smile, thinking of you having to host a Pampered Chef party all because you couldn't understand the Spanish! I suppose it could be worse.

  18. I really dislike the music on blogs thing. I find it totally distracting. Poor dear Amber, all alone for two hours a day! Don't worry though. Schools have all those holidays!

  19. I am SOOOO ready for my fall TV. This summer crap has sucked ass. Except Big Brother, I still love that show.

  20. Nolan took a lunchable in his lunch yesterday AND today. SHOCK. I am a BAD mom.

  21. I agree with the music! I HATE music on blogs...

  22. The very first one got me. My husband worked out of town for several months a couple of years ago and sure I missed him, but.....it was rather nice having the bed to myself, having control of the remote, not having anywhere near as much mess to keep after...

    ReplyDelete
  23. OK. You always make me chuckle, but this one straight up cracked me up. I feel your pain about the music on blogs, because it gets me totally busted for being on the internet at work. And those damn talking ads, too.

  24. I hate music on blogs. Mostly because I'm a music snob and I've never once heard a song I actually liked. Can you take a video of you skipping around the house saying, "I'm free."

  25. My kids often request Lunchables...especially my daughter. And, being he horrible parent that I am, I let her have them. I too hate music on blogs. It always scares me too...LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Yeah, I'm pretty much agreeing on all of it today! Except my kid went off to *gasp* his first day of high school....

    ReplyDelete
  27. I REALLY agree about the music. I end up turning my computer to mute during my blog visits!

    ReplyDelete
  28. My kids like lunchables. Not all the time, but sometimes.

Music that plays automatically on blogs is evil. EVIL.

    ReplyDelete
  29. i ate lunchables quite often when i was a kid.. okay, okay... MAYBE, i still eat them.. hey! they are good!!

  30. LOVE having the bed to myself... and if you check in to say HI, I'm sorry about the music, but it's an instrumental... not Brittney. -J

  31. The first visit to the Oral Surgeon and he talked so fast my daughter could only smile and nod. I asked her later if she understood what he said, and she said, "No. I just smiled and nodded." LOL

  32. I think your husband would be upset if you wear makeup on skipe, but you usually don't wear it.
I agree with the music on blogs, no I agree with you for hating it.
Tom away for " a while", the kids at school, plenty of time for yourself alone, I am sooo enviouuuss!

  33. I didn't know you were writing a book! Cool! I'll be in line for a copy soon as you say go.

And I'm with you - all kinds of pampered chef and scentsy parties are scary, scary, scary.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Two kids in school and time alone! Don't run in circles for too long or you get dizzy and fall down.

    ReplyDelete
  35. have fun with those kids gone. and I want people to take off word veri! really people - you get THAT much spam?

    ReplyDelete
  36. How have you been going about finding an agent and/or publisher?

Someone "out there" ought to be of some help...

    ReplyDelete
  37. reading? what's reading?? (and blogs don't count....i read those on the fly. you know, when i'm running by the computer on my way to somewheres else!)

    ReplyDelete
  38. Perfectly okay to love having the bed to yourself! I'm sooooooooooo looking forward to it this weekend!

And yeah, music on blogs drives me BATTY. I've reached the point that I will mute the computer before I even log on to blogger to start reading. It should be banned.

  39. That's so cute to picture you skipping around in your freedom!

I hope your book gets picked up!

  40. I cannot wait for Fall primetime television.

My NBC Thursday night lineup gets me through the semester.

  41. I found your site from Stacy Uncorked. I love it. I’m going to poke around a little bit, but don’t worry I’ll put everything back where I found it!!

  42. I'm with you about the fall tv shows and I so wish people would take the music off the blogs too.

  43. Music on blogs is such a pet peeve! I do most of my blogging at work and sometimes forget to turn my sound down. Suddenly the entire office is jumping out of their seats at the Rhianna blaring from my PC...not cool.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Except for the motherhood stuff because I'm not there yet, I agree on all points. I would send someone chocolate just for LIKING my writing. It's SO much easier to sleep after the husband gets up in the morning. And dear Lord, what happened to making an effort with summer series?! USA is the only channel that tries. Come on networks, give me fictional drama!

  45. Exercise 1 day sounds A familiar. Music on blogs is like going to someone's MySpace page. I keep it moving.. I'm so happy the kids are back in school I'll have a few hours of no fighting.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Yeah, the exercise thing is a pain... I planned to go to the pool today but got distracted by your blog. Damn you and thank you at the same time!

    ReplyDelete
  47. I LOVE Skype - no makeup required. C'mon is the camera THAT good? I think not. If you're sitting close enough for someone to see if you have make-up on, that also means they can see your nose hairs.

I, too, am ready for the Fall Season of TV programs to begin. Bring. Them. On.

    I mute the music blogs.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Fall TV, YES! And I'm not a fan of background blog music either. You so deserve those free time hours while the kids are at school!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Love this. A Lunchable will not destroy humanity.

Music on a blog might, but not a Lunchable people.

    ReplyDelete
  50. My kids love the sub sandwich Lunchables. It's one of the few things I can pack for them since the schools are nut-free and they're picky eaters.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I thought Lunchables were made for kids?
