I got this idea from Glamour magazine. They have a section called Hey, It’s Okay and will list a bunch of things to be okay about. I think I’m going to do this every Tuesday now. You're welcome to join in and do something like this on your diary. Doesn't have to be on a Tuesday either.
Hey, It's Okay....
To wonder why Lindsay Lohan was let out of rehab early. Oh, that’s right, because she’s a ‘celebrity.’
To be a little bitter that Paris Hilton’s mug shot looks so good.
To be glad that Natalie didn’t cry on her first day of preschool.
To have skipped around the house going “I’m free for two hours” when I returned home from dropping Natalie off at preschool.
To hate bad mail days (the days where all you get are bills and a letter from a credit card company imploring you to try out their new credit card and blah blah blah…if I wanted your credit card, I’d have asked for one myself, thanks.)
To love slicing up some cheese and dipping it in salsa.
To think the 1980s movie Big Business is pretty hilarious.
To wonder how people can be yakking on their cell phone while driving in the preschool parking lot. Hello, small kids running around. The conversation can wait.
To be amazed at the mothers who drop their kids off with a full face of makeup. I probably drop off Natalie with breakfast remnants still on my mouth.

I understand being upset about the people on cell phones, I get that... but what REALLY gets me, are the people that wait for their children to be released from school and they spend that time SMOKING in the parking lot. What is up with that? The thing is, I am a smoker, and I would NEVER smoke on school grounds!
ReplyDeletepssh, Paris Hilton's mugshot was NOT that good.
ReplyDeleteoooh i had a good mail day yesterday. woohoo.
ReplyDeleteCell Phones in schools parking lots should never go together. My son and I actually saw an accident yesterday at his school due to a cell phone conversation that just could not wait.
ReplyDeletecheese and salsa... Mmmm, now why have i NEVER tried that?
ReplyDeleteHaha, you are sooo funny!
ReplyDeleteI'm amazed at anyone that gets makeup on ever. I got it on last week for the first time in MONTHS,
and then rubbed my eyes while out forgetting about the whole mascara thing. i'm sure I looked real cute.
Hey, it's okay, right?
I have a few years until I get to send my little guy off to preschool, but I'm excited and devastated all at the same time haha. I'm glad that you and your daughter seemed to have handled it very well!
ReplyDeleteCell phones - ugh!!! I don't have one now and guess what? I'm FINE!!! They should be for emergencies only. Who has that much to talk about anyway????
ReplyDeleteMmmm....salsa - Garden Fresh makes the BEST salsa, it has caused me to become a salsa snob. I can no longer eat the stuff in a jar....
ReplyDeleteAgree with all of the above! EXTRA agree on the talking on cell phone in the pre-school parking lot! I swear people dont think!
ReplyDeleteYes! bad mail days suck.
ReplyDeleteI love getting the mail so much that as long as there's something in my mailbox, I'm happy.
ReplyDeleteOkay, that's probably an exaggeration.
I'm intrigued by the idea of dipping cheese into salsa. They're both great - can you really go wrong?
Everyday is bad mail day here! I'm glad you're enjoying your free time! Yay!
ReplyDeleteI've never understood the cellphone users that can't wait long enough to back out of their parking spot in crowded supermarket lots. Its dangerous enough with a lot of these folks that can't handle their oversized SUV as it is... what is so durn pressing that couldn't wait just a couple minutes? (or couldn't the call be done before getting in the "rig"?)
ReplyDeleteI though Paris' mug shot looked pretty good...
It's bad enough to be released from jail to go to rehab, but then to be released from there early? That just cuts her sentence to nothing, which is of course how they all beat the system.
ReplyDeleteyippee on the Natalie not crying thing. I was feeling for you yesterday in hopes that she didn't. The skipping around the house definately okay.

ReplyDeleteThe only good mail day is when you receive an unexpected check! The 2 hours are a gift...enjoy every moment of it and use it wisely. People are stupid with cell phones & yakking while driving....nothing can be THAT important at THAT moment and if it is, don't drive!
ReplyDeleteUm, I was also jealous of Paris's mug shot. I'm not even going to pretend I wasn't. The cocaine possession charge? Not so jealous...
ReplyDeleteCheese in salsa? You crack me up!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that Natalie did fine at pre-school.
ReplyDeleteNow, I always dropped my kids off fully made up because I was on my way to work. I wore stilettos then too!
Those mums probably still have make-up on from the day before. They sleep on their backs, with two slats of wood either side of them so they don't roll over and spoil it. Don't be fooled.
ReplyDeleteI love the "Big Business" comment - it's on my Tivo list for this week, haha :-)
ReplyDeleteThe moms will lose the glam by about October...you wait! I can remember my first day of freedom...how good it felt...enjoy! ;)

ReplyDeleteLove the 'It's OK' idea!! I just have to remember to use it more. :-D
ReplyDeleteEnjoy those two hours!! I was soooo looking forward to having all day to myself, albeit to work, when my son would go to K-5...then I started homeschooling...seriously shot myself in the foot on THAT idea!!
I don't like to leave the house too scary...but this summer has seen some pretty frightening days in the neighborhood!!
Yeah if I drop Rhiannon off at school with makeup on then I must have something very important to do...like a funeral or something
ReplyDeleteSo, did Natalie run the classroom?
ReplyDeleteFYI - It's more than okay to skip around the house.
ReplyDeleteEverytime I read you, I get a little creeped out about the things we both like.
ReplyDeleteSalsa and cheese = A happy mouth
Who in the heck drops off a kid at preschool with a full face???!?!? I only wear a full face on a hot date with my hubby, and by full I mean, foundation, powder, blush, and mascara. Not so full, by some standards.
I know what you mean about a full 2 hours to yourself, except really it's only 1hr 45mins before jumping into the car to make the pick up rounds. Yeah and I went to Kinder drop off today in a baseball cap/sunglasses/sweats...and I'm okay with that:)
ReplyDeleteWe had a lady speed past us on the freeway this morning whilst texting o.O
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your freedom... :o)
Oh man cheese & salsa is one of my favorites! Thanks for stopping by today!
ReplyDeleteYay for Natalie not crying! I will be singing "I'm free" in 2 weeks when my little guy starts preschool.
ReplyDeleteI love my free time while my kids are in school.
ReplyDeleteAnd since I don't even have to get out of the van to drop off my boys, there is NO WAY I'll ever have make-up on.
I will never understand the morons who don't hang up their phone while they're driving. They know they're doing something dangerous, but they don't seem to care.
ReplyDeleteSo I take it the first day of preschool went ok? Hope she didn't poop on the phone or get an attitude with the teacher.
ReplyDeleteThere were Mums with make up on? I'm a teacher and I don't even mange that! ;P
ReplyDeleteIf you knew how I pray nothing happens to my car when I drop my son off? I look a HOT mess most of the time lol
ReplyDeleteI admit, I have the full face of makeup, but I'm the one running around the school parking lot going, "I'm free!"
ReplyDeleteIsn't talking on your cell phone while driving illegal? Worse in a preschool parking lot. I think Paris looked smug in her mug shot. CUTE Hair Day for her though.
ReplyDeleteI copied you. Because you are cooler than I am. You brat.

Don't hurt yourself with all that wild skipping around the house. You don't want to screw up your newly found free time with an injury!!!
ReplyDeleteI heard that Paris Hilton put make-up on before her mug shot....and they let her...of course!
ReplyDeleteI know, I was studying her picture (Paris') wondering if I could do my hair like that and if it would look good, which I know it won't because I've tried the bang braid and it NEVER looks good on me. EVER. dammit.

Thank God for Bette Midler and Lily Tomlin.
ReplyDeleteMy mom and I will do that weird rattlesnake thing Lily Tomlin does as the sister from Jupiter Hollow.
It amuses us to no end.
OMG. Big Business was my favorite movie when I was little, like 4-7..lol. I seriously thought I was the only one who's ever seen it.
