And sometimes she doesn’t like to share.
These are two huge reasons why that I’m nervous for Natalie to start preschool today. What if she tells the teacher to piss off when it’s announced that it’s circle time? Suppose she conks another kid over the head with a block because he dared to try and take the toy she was playing with?
What if she poos her pants?
Will kids laugh and point and be all, “That’s Natalie. She took a dump right in the middle of craft time.”
Maybe Natalie will say, “No thanks,” when the teacher asks her to listen.
What if she cries when I try to drop her off? Will I look like a monster if I calmly unclasp her hands from around my leg and deposit her on the Magic Rug? Is it okay if I quickly kiss her goodbye and race out of there so she doesn’t have a chance to cry? Should I give her a pep talk (“let’s not poo our pants, okay?”)
I should know how to do all of this. I have an older kid who did the preschool thing. But I can’t remember what I did. Plus we were in England at the time and things were a little different there.
I’m a nervous wreck.
What if I don’t cry when I leave her? Does that mean I have a heart made of steel?
Or what if I burst into tears in front of everybody? I’m an ugly crier so this could be tragic.
I just can’t believe Natalie is already in preschool.
Wasn’t she just born?

she's gorgeous. how old is she now?
ReplyDeleteawww her lil ruffled socks are just adorable!! I hope her first day goes smoothly!! =)
ReplyDeleteGosh darn, she's cute!!! It's going to go swimmingly!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure the teacher will just think it's cute if she tells him/her "No thanks" because look at her! She is so cute!
ReplyDeleteNatalie looks darling in that dress and those socks. She'll knock their socks off. I thought for sure I'd get emotional when we dropped my son off for kindergarten, but I was strangely calm.
ReplyDeleteShe is adorable!
ReplyDeleteMy middle son started preschool today. I didn't cry. We drive up to the door and the assistants get them out and take them to their classes, so no time for him to cling. I'm not sure how he's going to do b/c he keeps asking for his teacher from last year- but we moved and he can't go there. He politely says "No thank you" when someone asks him to do something he doesn't want to....drives me crazy.
Hope she has a great first day!
It's preschool. All the kids will be mouthing off, pooping in their pants and just generally acting their age. Don't worry about it...
ReplyDeleteShe looks adorable in her dress!!!
ReplyDeleteShe'll do great. The teachers will fall in love with her. How could you not love that adorable face?!
ReplyDeleteGood luck today Natalie ... and you too Amber!
She looks so grown up in her dress!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe she's in preschool. Just seems crazy to me. I remember when you were doing this process with Tommy!
And I think it's okay not to cry...doesn't mean you're insensitive or uncaring!
she's so cute..
ReplyDeleteand i am so sure everything will go fine... you'll have to update us tomorrow!
Good Luck Natalie!! (and Natalie's mom!)
ReplyDeleteShe is super cute. Hope you both have a great day!
ReplyDeleteWith attitude and looks like that I am sure the boys wont even care if she smacks them over the head with a block :)
ReplyDeleteHope she has a good first day!
Good luck to gorgeous Nat! She'll be fine. She gets an "A+" for style and that's a good start! Relax, Amber!
ReplyDeleteShe will be the belle of the preschool.
ReplyDeleteoh my gosh, how could she not be the bomb at preschool. She is the best dressed, I am sure of that.
ReplyDeleteStill has that great smile
ReplyDeleteGood luck on her first day! I'm sure it will all go great--and even if she DOES poop her pants, oh well. It won't be the first time someone's done it. Have fun in your QUIET house!
ReplyDeleteYAY for her first day!!!!
ReplyDeleteHope she is have a "Non-piss off day!"
:O)
She is so adorable! I'm sure she'll do great!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to hear about her first day! Her dress is aaaahhhh-dorable!
ReplyDeleteI give Maggie the "poop pep talk" every. single. morning! It never hurts to reinforce behaviors!
ReplyDeleteAs long as she smiles like that, she'll be fine, whatever she does!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure she will win over her teacher with those big blue eyes and her contagious smile. Let us know how it goes!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh she's just too cute! I love that pose she has going on. haha.
ReplyDeleteI hope you both do well on her first day of preschool. Either way - before you know it she'll be racing out the door to school. They always end up loving it.
She is so cute! Love the dress. You both will do fantastic on her first day =]
ReplyDeleteShe looks sooo pretty! Let me know how it goes! If she is like MOST kids her age, she'll behave waaaaaaay better for other people when you aren't there then she ever would for you. It isn't fair, but it's true :)
ReplyDeleteIsn't she styling? She's going to have a great time in preschool -- she's definitely a leader!
ReplyDeleteShe is super cute! You will do great and she will do great! She will have everyone eating out of the palm of her hand... hmmm well hopefully not literally.
ReplyDeleteCan I have her?
ReplyDeleteShe looks adorable! I'm sure she will be fine! And think of those couple of hours you'll have of free time each day! Yahoo!
ReplyDeleteHope her first day goes well!
ReplyDeleteWhat if, what if, what if? I think our kids are usually nicer for other adults than for us, so that will help, but she may just hit someone over the head. That's okay too. At least the kids won't mess with her.
ReplyDeleteShe is a cutie, by the way.
When I was in preschool my father read me Peter Pan and the next day I called everyone silly asses.
ReplyDeleteBut the adults at the preschool were luckily very nice, understanding people who befriended my parents and we are still in contact with them today. :)
Don't worry too much.
Adorable!! I had the same fears about my daughter. she's now in second grade and has yet to get into too much trouble. And I am thankful daily for it!
ReplyDeleteShe'd still be the cutest and the best-dressed chick there!
ReplyDeleteAnd if you don't cry, don't worry-- there will be lots more opportunities later, like when she starts getting her period. And believe it or not, one day she will.
On my daughter's first day of pre-school, we carpooled with friends. When the friend brought my daughter home, I opened the back door to undo her seat belt and get her out. She announced, "I smell a skunk!" Her little pal in the next seat belt had poo-ed her pants! When the mom got her home, she called to tell me. So, if Natalie does, she won't be the first or the last. My daughter's 'skunk' friend graduated UCLA with honors a few years ago!
L.
Awwwww, Natalie will do great and so will you. Look how ready she is in her cute little first day outfit. She's such a livin' doll!
ReplyDeleteGod bless ya and have a marvelous Monday!!!
Meh! Don't worry, well, worry, because you're a mom and you're supposed to, but as a former preschool teacher, I can tell you, we've scene it all, so really don't worry! :) Good luck to you both today Mama!
ReplyDeleteMy youngest is going into 7th grade next week and I guarantee I'll cry as soon as he's on the bus. Can't help it :)
ReplyDeleteShe's precious! Love her first day of school dress choice. Hope everything went well for her!
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect first day of school outfit! She's adorable. I'm sure it went fine and once she settles into the routine all will be good!
ReplyDeleteI have nothing to say on the subject of schooling or parenting, but if you've taught your daughter to (literally) tell people to piss off at the age of three, you've just earned an enormous amount of my respect.
ReplyDeleteShe's cute and you're awesome, that's enough. :)
She'll do fine. Jesse had her first day today and only got a little glassy eyed when she realized we had left. It's good for them to get this out of the way before the big k. My kid did do what you are worried about on his first day (I posted about it on Friday.) They live thru it just fine. ;)
ReplyDeleteCrossing my fingers all went well.
ReplyDeleteShe looks so grown up mom!
ReplyDeleteGood luck to you and Natalie. She looks pretty darn cute
ReplyDeleteShe's so adorable. I'm sure it went just fine. Can't wait to hear the update.
ReplyDeleteI have the SAME fears about Asher starting preschool. Even worse? A few of my BF are his teachers and class aides. Awesome.
ReplyDeleteShes a doll!
ReplyDeleteAnd if it makes you feel better, our preschool actually encourages the kiss and dash routine.
Coming from a friend of mine, who has been working in several preschools - simply leaving your child there on the first day and getting out of there is the best thing you can do. (Every time a parent decides to "stay for a few hours, in case there is any trouble", she is tempted to hit them over the head with a heavy toy.)
ReplyDeleteOh my! momma your right! I feel the same way with my daughter, but she isn't even two, her uncle is trying to teach her to punch, and she already says shut up... I'm scared for school!
ReplyDeleteas for 4sq, yea someone had to tell me! although im mayor of where I work! ;)
Hugs!! I'm glad she didn't cry and we're all looking forward to more details soon!!!
ReplyDeleteHey, Corinne was bawling the other day when I was scolding her for trying to boss her brothers around. She kept repeating,
ReplyDelete"But I LIKE being bossy! I want to be in CHARGE!!"
It's tough to know everything and be the youngest in the family.
Girl, don't you know that kids behave better for other people than they do for their parents? It's a thing we do. LoL
