Roller Coaster Wimp

So before Tom left, we were in Texas for a week.

On one of those days we went to Six Flags.

Now, I’ll fully admit that I’m a wimp. I don’t do roller coasters anymore. I used to love them. My son, he wants to do all roller coasters. This is a problem because Tom and I don’t like them.

So we enlisted help.

In the form of my mother.

Yes, I know it’s really sad that Tommy’s grandmother had to go on the roller coasters.

They went on one called Boomerang. I’d have cried. I thought Tommy might but he came back over and went, “That was awesome.” Then they went on the wooden roller coaster called The Rattler, and Tommy thought that was cool too.

“I wasn’t afraid at all!”

Seriously? How can he not be afraid of a roller coaster made of WOOD? OF WOOD?

He would have gone on more but he was too short for the rest.

I’d like to say that it was an enjoyable time. But for awhile Tom was pouting because he doesn’t like A) crowds and B) the heat in Texas. So he’d just stand there sulking and I’d remind him that this was for the children and he’d grumble and go, “I just want to go home.” I was about to pour my water, encased in a Six Flags souvenir bottle (free refills!) over his head.

Natalie was pissy because she couldn’t go on some of the rides she wanted to go on because she was too short.

I took her on a train ride and she was all, “WTF?”

I think she felt she was above the train that just went around the track. At like two miles per hour.

I tried to get her to smile and she went, “I don’t yike to smile and I don’t yike dis train.”

When the train started moving she cheered up a little bit.

She especially loved driving a Wiggles car. This picture amuses me because Tom is so big stuck in such a tiny car.

We took her on a fruit salad ride. She yiked that at least.

I ended up getting a funnel cake so I was happy.

Maybe by the time we go back Tommy will be able to go on all the roller coasters.

We’ll have to bring my Mom, naturally.

‘Cause he has a pair of wimps for parents.

Sorry kid.

  2. There is nothing like a delicious funnel cake.

And my grandma was the roller coaster queen. She loved Knott's Berry Farm and Magic Mountain.

  3. The Rattler hurts my neck and back. Serious whiplash on that ride!

  4. I understand her pain.

I HATED going on the kiddie rides when I was little.

I understood that they were geared toward my demographic, but I was only insulted by their pandering.

  5. Ahhh...see I'm not the only one! I hate roller coaster rides too! Your daughter reacted just like my little one:-(

  6. I don't yike some rides either. I used to LOVE roller coasters, but I don't know anymore...it's been a looong time. And the hole wood roller coaster thing? Are you KIDDING??

  7. I hate roller coasters too!!! Always have. Always will. My husband hates that about me! Haha, but he has to deal with it. Granted, I did go on screaming California TWICE for him! that was a big deal. I have to hold my hand over my mouth so I don't Ralph on his lap. I'm such a nice wife! Haha

  8. I dont yike roller coasters either. Actually I do but I was blessed with motion sickness so my enjoyment for them ends when I feel the vomit coming up...nice

  9. My husband found out the hard way his stomach no longer has the strength for rides. When his 13-year-old daughter begged him to take her to the fair, he actually asked the operator to stop the Zipper. She continues to tease him and it's been several months.

  10. Natalie is so sassy. She's adorable.

I have been craving funnel cakes for, no lie, two years. But I never go to places that sell them.

Love the pictures of Tom on the tiny ride. He looks like he's trying not to look pissed.

  11. I'm a roller coaster wimp too. The pic of Tom in the car is awesome. I'll be getting myself a funnel cake tonight. :)

  12. I'll go on the roller coasters with him! My son hates them so I am the one pouting about being on the ground. Funnel cakes are the best!

  13. Mmmm... funnel cakes... now I want one!

  14. I love roller coasters so you could just take me! I did find out however, that my adult stomach does not like the rides that spin as much as it once did. Therefore, I take motion sickness pils before we head to the amusement park. Works like a charm and I can keep up with my teens!!

I'm with Natalie...I don't yike the slowpoke train either.

  17. The hubby and I would take meds before we went for nausea b/c we literally would ride til we were so nauseated that we couldn't walk straight...good times.

Busch Gardens in Tampa is awesome, and the one in Williamsburg is equally worth hitting :o)

    Ohh...funnel cake...so yummy!

  18. I <3 the way she talks. she is such a beauty! didyou know that as we age our brain shrinks(really!) and thats why roller coasters arent any fun any more because your brain is sloshing around in your head making you nauseas and unsure of where you are and vertigo and such.

  20. My sons love the boomerang. I will admit, that the first day I took them without my husband (we have season passes so we go while daddy is at work) I had told them that we would not be able to ride it. They were very bummed. Right before we left the park I got the nerve to ride it without my safety net (my hubby).

  21. I LOVE rollercoasters, but I hate amusement parks that aren't Disney, because I'm spoiled rotten.

Space Mountain for the 15,000th time it is, then.

  22. I haven't been on a roller coaster in about 10 years. WOW. I'm almost... old. Wow.

  23. I don't do coasters at all. I love that smile on the last photo:)

  24. The pictures are adorable, lol. And yeah my kids are out of luck on the roller coaster thing too. Luckily my husband doesn't mind them, but I get the shakes for an hour after going on a small one.

  25. That may be the cutest pout i have ever seen LOL

  26. I don't "yike" roller coasters either - luckily Man Child is a bigger wimp than me. Which is fine, until there is a ride I want to ride and he and Hubby both refuse to accompany me. And I'm too big of a wimp to ride alone. That Natalie is as cute as can be - even when pouting.

  27. I'm a wimp too-, no roller coasters for me. Ha, and I love the pictures of Tom in the tiny car.

  28. Natalie probably doesn't think "more flags more fun!" applies to her....

  29. Oh gosh...adorable pictures. She has quite the personality, you can tell. I make no apologies for my overwhelming roller coaster fears. And sitting in the hot sun while family members hang out in those long bacteria filled lines--even more fun. In short, theme parks are hell for me. And yeah, I'm a wimp too. A proud one.

  30. Natalie is a cutie pie. Has daddy invested in a shotgun yet? He's gonna need it when she grows up. It sorta reminds the boyfriends to bring her home at a respectable time and in the same condition as when she left the house.

  31. LOVED the pouty face! A girl can never learn this trick too early!

Rollercoasters rock!!!! But not the wooden ones; they are too rickety and give me a headache.

  32. She is so photogenic, whether it's good or bad...lol!

We are heading to Silverwood in the morning for a 7 day vacation...lots of roller coasters there...woohoo!

  33. A little girls smile; one of the only reasons I have ever seen a Dad squeeze himself into a not-so-Big red car.

    Love the pics!

  34. I feel sorry for that poor kid sitting behind him in the little car.
She does smile nice when she yikes something.

  35. I don't yike wooden roller coasters either. I mean, really??

  36. Your babies are adorable...looking. Its terrible that families are separated, just terrible.

  37. I don't like rollercoaster either. I would rather ride the train. That is more my speed.

  38. Roller coaster, schmoller coaster. Collect $200, pass go and head straight for the funnel cakes!!!

  39. She is so adorable. Seriously the sweetest little thing :) LOVE your pictures. Especially her frowning! Tom in the tiny car IS funny. I laughed out loud.

  40. I can't see the pics *cries*

I'm the same about roller coasters, tho. . .I used to love them, now? Not so much. Plus I HATE heat.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Oh! NOW I can see 'em! Sooooo cute! Love her pink cheeks!

  42. I love it when little kids use a Y for an L. I keep telling Micah that I hope Dani does that! And I don't blame you, I don't even like to drive across bridges so there is no way I'm doing roller coasters.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Awwww. She reminds me of my baby girl and how she pouts when she can't do the stuff her bigger brothers do.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I dont like roller coasters either. My husband LOVES them. I'll go on any water ride, but roller coasters and me just dont mix. Natalie is super cute- even when shes pouting!

  45. I used to do all those crazy rides. Then one day I just couldn't handle them any more. I used to LOVE the tilt-a-whirl, but now, just thinking of it makes me want to puke. And roller coasters? Forget-about-it!

Tom looked funny in the car. :)

    Natalie? A doll as always!
