Hey, It's Okay Tuesday!

I got this idea from Glamour magazine. They have a section called Hey, It’s Okay and will list a bunch of things to be okay about. I think I’m going to do this every Tuesday now. You're welcome to join in and do something like this on your diary. Doesn't have to be on a Tuesday either.

Hey, It's Okay....

To wish I had a shaman friend like Elizabeth Gilbert did in Eat, Pray, Love.

To have sort of liked Lady Gaga’s meat dress. It made me crave bacon.

To be annoyed that there are people on the forum I write at who insist on putting HUGE photos of their kids as their signature. Look, if I can see all the pores in little Suzy’s face, it’s too big. Re-size, it’s easy to do.

To be irritated that Natalie wakes up at three in the morning just to say hi. She goes back to sleep, thankfully, but still. Three in the morning is not an appropriate time to exchange pleasantries.

To have firmly decided that you could never share your husband like they did on that show Sister Wives. I’m an only child so I’m not a big fan of sharing anyway.

To love the show Little House on the Prairie even if it is ridiculously cheesy. Come on, we’ve all had a Nelly Oleson in our lives. I usually always find a Nelly when a group of women are gathered.

To wonder why people bring their dogs everywhere with them. It startles me when I’m walking in a parking lot and a dog barks at me from the car.

To be on the search for the Pumpkin Pie Pop Tarts that I keep hearing about. I MUST try one!

To be a little baffled when people talk about their three-year-olds having homework. Um?

To love peacoats. I have a peacoat. Natalie has a peacoat. I want to get Tommy a peacoat even though he says they’re “not cool.” Tom, it should be noted, would never wear a peacoat.

  1. I love peacoats! I got mine in highschool and have been wearing it since. I love to double layer it with a hoodie too super warm!

  2. I'm thinking today is a fine day to be okay with just about anything. Sleep deprivation does that to a person I've heard.

  3. I love peacoats! I tried getting Michael to wear one, but he says they are too "preppy" for him. Ugh, men. lol

  4. I LOVE my peacoat...it's classic! I have not heard of these pop-tarts until now but I want one! I too could NEVER share my husband. That whole culture baffles me!

  5. I too love Peacoats and we all wear one, although I need to get DD a new one this year as she clearly can't go 2 months without growing out of her entire wardrobe!

  6. omg- pumpkin pie pop tarts? shut your face.

  7. to be annoyed by someone who talks very loudly to their child and e-nun-ci-ates ever syllable. Oh! look! and air-row. do you see the air row? are you go-ing to see na-na and pa-poo? bLAH!

  8. Wait. Peacoats are back in style? Damn! I should have saved mine from high school! Course I would never fit in it, but still...

I taped Sister Wives, but have yet to watch it. I just read that the husband is committing a felony being married to more than one wife, so things should get interesting. Here comes the sheriff!

  9. LOL at the big pictures on that forum! I know exactly which forum you are talkign about hehe..I agree..some of those pictures are just ridiculously huge and why do you need 3 big ass pictures on there anyway!

    ReplyDelete
  10. Sister Wives is...different. I would not share my man with no one. (he is only legally married to the first wife; the other's are "ceremonies", so technically, no bigamy)

I LOVE peacoats. They are great.

I had a patient the other day that said her 17 month old was missing "school". Um, what?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Of course he wouldn't wear one, its the Navy that has them. a 3 yr old with homework? YIKES! On a search for those pop-tarts now!

    ReplyDelete
  12. I LOVE peacoats -- too bad it's too hot here, even in the winter months, to wear one!
Pumpkin Pie pop tarts sound AMAZING!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Oh, I love peacoats, too!

And, I can't find pumpkin. You know, the canned stuff? But a pop tart sure does sound good.

And, Iz is still 3 (for a couple more days) and she has homework. But, she's in pre-K with 4 and 5 year olds..that's better right?

To be honest, I'm glad she has it (even though it takes time to work on it) because she's excited about doing it and I think it's setting a good foundation for homework later (so sue me..I'm a teacher:)

  14. Please tell me I'm not going on a wild goose chase for the pumpkin Pop Tarts. Cuz' I'mma find 'em if it takes me 'till Christmas.

  15. bahaha!

    I love peacoats too!

    so cute!

Homework for three year olds...? Rediculous! I work with Aidyn, but I wouldnt put him in a pre school that had homework already!

sister wives, had me laughing THE ENTIRE SHOW!! I will continue to watch because I am so interested! I was all like wtf the entire time!

Little house on the prarie ='s LOVE!Where did shows like that go? We need quality television back!

  16. I'm trying to figure out where that polygamist family lives, in related to where we do. I sort of enjoyed the show. They all seem happy and well adjusted.

  17. I too hate it when people have HUGE pictures. We don't all adore Suzy as much as you do...sorry!

I said the same thing, I would never share my DH with anyone. Sorry - he's mine only.

I have not heard of these Pumpkin Pie Pot Tarts but you now have me on the hunt.

I also adore peacoats - I have a beautiful gold one from Victoria's Secret DH got me for Christmas last year!

  18. You spend a lot of time on GF, lol! (So do I).

I have to agree with you on all accounts, though I hope my siggy pic isn't too big, just LMK :-)

  19. i know right.. SISTERWIVES.. right?!?! i will SOOOO be watching the season, but sunday night hubs got annoyed cause i kept yellin' at the TV about the whole situation!!!

you are NOT alone.. i will forever LOVE little house!!

  20. Yeah, I'm not sharing my hubby either. I mean I trained him, he's mine.

I've never heard of pumpkin pie Pop Tarts. I think you're making that up.

3 am is most definitely not a good time for pleasantries. Pleasantries are totally taboo until at least 9 am.

  21. OMG Pumpkin Pie Pop Tarts are my new mission in life. I must have them!

I love a good peacoat too, but they make look sahped funny. Ok, really I'm shaped funny, but they accentuate it.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Sisterwives is only cool if they just do all the cooking and cleaning and you get the man all the time

    ReplyDelete
  23. I had siblings and I would NEVER be ok with sharing my husband. That Sister Wives show was just crazy!!

And to think he wants to bring in another wife... a married man dating and his wives are ok with that. You have got to be kidding.

Ok, I will stop ranting. Sorry but that lifestyle just makes me sick!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Peacoats are Navy uniform, no wonder Tom would not wear one.

    ReplyDelete
  25. peacoats are awesome! I too am baffled at homework for 3 year olds!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I take my big ugly dogs everywhere with me so I don't have to carry the AK-47.

    ReplyDelete
  27. What???? They make pumpkin pie pop tarts? Me want some. NOW!

    ReplyDelete
  28. I'm an only child, too!

I watched Little House on the prairie for the first time last night. I'm hooked!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I don't understand how those sister wives do it... and pumpkin pie poptarts sound fantastic.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I am with you on nixing the 3 am pleasantries. My three year old woke up each sibling the other day to ask them if they wanted to go for a walk. They all decline.

Pumpkin Pie Pop Tarts? What? Must find, right now.

    ReplyDelete
  31. wow, i just found your blog and had to comment. i started a blog early last year called "dirty laundry" and i thought i was original (that blog is no longer active)! i came up with it because my mother hated the fact that i blog and "air my dirty laundry".

great minds think alike. and pumpkin pop tarts? omg.

  32. "I usually always find a Nelly when a group of women are gathered."

Ah...the use of "usually always". Not exactly grammatically acceptable, but I'll let you get away with it. :)

    ReplyDelete
  33. Just popped in... I love the way you write!!! Keep up the conversations and I think you are doing a great job with hubby away!!!

    ReplyDelete
  34. A credit Little House for a generation of girls who think it's sexy when their man cries.

    ReplyDelete
  35. All those definitely okay. Especially, Little House on the Prairie! I can *always* pick the Nellie Olsen out in a group too.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I'm with you all the way, except for the Lady Gaga dress! Yick-- I can crave bacon without seeing that.

As for LHOP, my daughter and I still quote lines from it all the time. Personal favorite: "Wait till Reverend Alden sees his new bible!"

    Good night, Natalie!

  37. It's okay to secretly love the Christmas decorations that are out now in September; along side the Halloween decorations!

    ReplyDelete
  38. It's A-okay that life isn't perfect.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Meat dress was funny, but likely cold.
Pea coats are fabulous and even cuter on kids. But since Phin would need a 3X one that likely doesn't exist, we'll never be "that family" dressed alike at the Fall Festival.
3 am howdy-dos are NOT funny.
Sister wives isn't on my TiVo but may have to be soon.
Pumpkin Pop tarts? If they were chocolate with pumpkin filling they'd be even better because everything's better with chocolate, even bacon.
I only pasrt company over Little House, because I was an odd little urban kid who couldn't stand "hick" shows. Green Acres bothered me too. Suburban was fine, but rural ones, no. I was like a junior Woody Allen in that regard.

  40. I just finished watching that episode of Sister Wives. Fascinating! Like you, it's not a lifestyle for me, but if they're happy I'm happy.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Even the name "peacoat" makes me smile. More than the meat dress did, I'm afraid

    ReplyDelete
  42. Oh, the Nelly Olesons of the world. I really thought they'd disappear when we grew up, but sadly, they did not.

    ReplyDelete
  43. three years olds shouldn't be doing homework - heck they don't even belong in school...

Pumpkin Pie Pop Tarts?? they make Pumpkin Pie Pop Tarts?? BRB!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Oh, where to start.

I've missed reading you for 3 days. SHEESH!

Ok, LURVE, LURVE Little House on the Prairie. It was my favoritest show at one time. What is NOT to love about Laura and gang?

Pumpkin Pie poptarts? SURELY YOU JEST?! You must report the minute you find them.

Peacoats are the best. I even own one. Just wish i lived where it was EVER necessary to wear one.

    ReplyDelete
  45. 1) I have been craving bacon like mad lately, whether it be Canadian or American.

    2) I think the fact that Natalie wakes up at 3am to say hi is hysterical, but I only think that because I'm not the one she's greeting.

    3) I can't believe you didn't lead with pumpkin pie Pop-Tarts! That is, by far, the most important thing on this list!

    ReplyDelete
  46. I don't share well either and I love little house on the prairie!

    ReplyDelete
  47. I agree with Sister Wives comments...it's just weird.

I saw the pumpkin pie pop tarts at Target tonight...didn't get any though. Pumpkin's not really my thing.

and I would also have a problem with a) three year olds with homework and b)being woke up at 3 am for a "hi".
