A Small Announcement

Just so everyone knows....

....I had the sapphire and diamond ring before Kate Middleton made it famous.

I’ve always loved the style.

Plus, mine is better, it belonged to my Grandma.

(I also have a matching necklace, bought by Tom. I love sapphires and diamonds together and now I worry if I wear the stuff people will be all, “Ahh, the Kate Middleton look.” And I’ll be like, “Nope, it’s actually the Amber look, thanks.”)

  1. Wear it and own it. It's a beautiful ring. I hate those comments. I get that kind of crap with my hair. I have had short hair since I was 18 (I'm now 48) and now that I have 3 small children suddenly I have "mom hair".

I took the comments to heart and started to grow out my hair ... it's looks awful on me !!... so next week it's all coming off and I'm going back to my short hair.

So wear that beautiful ring proudly ... there are probably a lot of us out here who not only have no idea who Kate Middleton is but we also have no idea what jewelry she is making popular.

  4. I actually know who Kate Middleton is... what I don't get is why she is important... or why England still as royalty.

  5. Wow! That's really, really pretty.

Also, I hate that. . .when you've had or have been doing something forever, and all of a sudden, it's trendy, and everyone assumes that you're just following the trends. And then when the fad passes, people think you're just behind the times. Ugh.

  6. LOVE sapphire. It's classic and beautiful - as is YOUR ring. Don't let that Middleton chick get you down!

  7. I agree with Blueviolet and I think you should get a shirt that says, "She copied me." You could just point to your chest if anyone says something...or even looks like they might say something.

  15. Your ring is beautiful. Wear it with pride. I'm not sure Kate Middleton would have really chosen that ring as it was Diana's.

  16. Beautiful! My wedding ring is diamonds and sapphires, I love it! My birthstone is Diamond and my husbands is Sapphires, so it's a good mix together :)

  17. She copied both of us! I have a ring very similar to yours - and I get that comment every time I wear it now!

  18. Um, not to burst your bubble, but Kate's ring isn't new--it was Princess Diana's engagement ring. You probably just copied Diana!

  23. That's a beautiful ring and I never would have known that's the kind Kate Middleton has!

  24. It's super cool that your ring is a family heirloom, unfortunately, I feel I must mention, that so is Kate's. It belonged to Diana. Which makes it super cool too.

  25. Beautiful. :) And you totally had it first. Can't wait til all the clone rings start popping up.

  26. That is a beautiful ring! Didn't Diana have a sapphire and diamond ring too? Surprised they didn't go for something different...

  27. The Amber look is great. And the fact it has a history makes it even better.

  28. I love sapphires and diamonds together, too! My wedding band and engagement ring is a combo of the ring--great minds think alike, hmm? Beautiful ring!

    ReplyDelete
  29. for a LONG time i wanted that combo...now i'm afraid to ask for it since she has sorta ruined it. but technically DIANA had it first, right?

  30. Actually, Kate said in an interview with Hello Canada that William did get the idea from Amber. You just read the wrong magazines.

    Beautiful.

  31. Your sapphire and diamonds look is totally fabulous! Beautiful ring!!!

  32. THAT IS GORGEOUS!!!!!!!

My first engagement/wedding ring was just a sapphire - no diamonds though. For our 10th anniversary, Hubby bought me a stinkin' huge diamond - no sapphires. So...... I guess now I've had both, just not together.

    Maybe for my 20th......

  33. Kate Middleton's engagement ring belonged to Princess Diana. That's the only reason everyone is talking about it... Your ring is much better! :)

  34. Woah: Prince Charles copied your grandma's ring. You think maybe they had a little something-something going on back in the day? (not to cast aspersions on your grandmother's character; maybe Charles just had a crush).

    ReplyDelete
  35. I think Princess Di made it famous first (not "before you first" of course, but "before Kate Middleton first") Prince William just passed it down to share the moment with his mum. Poor fellow.

It looks stunning on you, btw. I have a sapphire and diamond ring too, and I LOVE those stones together.
