The Evil Doll

I knew it.

I KNEW it would happen.

But Natalie had to have the giant Rapunzel. She begged for the giant Rapunzel.

I got her the giant Rapunzel.

And now....

NOW...

I’m freaked out by the giant Rapunzel.

It started off okay. It truly did.

Natalie got her beloved giant Rapunzel and she was so happy.

She even got a matching dress.

But then Natalie would leave the doll downstairs at night. And I’d be minding my own business, enjoying the quiet because the kids were finally asleep. I’d settle down on the couch, all stretched out and then I’d see her from the corner of my eye.

I’d jump, of course.

Because the doll looks like a real person at first.

And dolls freak me out ever since I watched those Chucky movies when I was younger. Then there was another movie about an evil GIRL doll. I can’t even remember what that one was called. But the point is, that doll was also EVIL. Like I’m going to murder you while laughing maniacally, evil.

So when I see that Rapunzel doll at night I think:

I try to make sure the doll is upstairs by the evening. Or, you know, covered by a blanket and put in another room.

But sometimes I forget.

And when I do, I’m always spooked and I think:

  1. Definitely creepy. I'd be freaked out too but then I hate being home alone at night. I'm already dreading my husband deploying again.

  2. That would freak the hell out of me too! Seriously, dolls are creepy.
On the upside, Natalie and Rapunzel in their matching dresses are totally A for adorable together.

  3. I tried watching 'Tangled' last night.

    Fell asleep 5 mins in.

    Great show.

  6. haha! She'd creep the heck outta me in a dark corner! But to her credit, Natalie looks SO happy, and just ADORABLE dressed to match!

  7. That doll is like WAY bigger than Chucky and can probably kiss you without anyone hearing. I would get rid of it ASAP!

    :)

  8. LOL! That is really creepy. My husband was making sculpture of a human head a couple years ago. I'd go to get a drink in the middle of the night and get scared by it every time!

  9. haha - at least turn her around and make her face the wall!

  10. My Peanut has a biscuit dog (you know those huge robot dogs that look like a real dog.) She has had it for about 2 years not and it still freaks me out, enjoy your life, LOL! Have a great day, perhaps have Natalie make a make shift bed for her upstairs in her room so she puts her to bed when she goes to bed too???

  11. I'm with you she looks like Chucky sister!

  12. Very creepy, but I love the picture of Natalie hugging the box! So cute.

  13. I'm with you, those dolls totally creep me out and I'm quite happy that my daughter HATES dolls!

That being said, it's probably a good idea to keep her in sight AT ALL TIMES. They only get into mischief when you can't see what their doing. Just like our kids.

  14. That thing would freak me out.

But, Natalie and the doll look adorable all dressed alike.

  15. Pretty sure you're thinking of the movie 'Bride of Chucky'. *shudders*

  16. That doll is GIGANTIC! I would freak me out too.

  17. It would freak me out, but only because the doll is better looking than my own kids.

  18. I hate life size dolls. They creep me out big time.
That girl doll movie was called Dolly Dearest. I still can't watch it to this day.
My husband's brother had one of those My Buddy dolls. It met with an unfortunate accident involving lawn darts and fireworks says my husband.

  19. I don't blame you at all. Her eyes are huge. She's scary.

  20. Dolls are CREEPY.. especially the ones with the moving eyes. So on the bright side... I don't think Rapunzel's eyes move. Wait, if your Rapunzel's eyes start moving to look at you RUN AWAY!! One good thing I can tell you- is my cousin when she was lil rec'd a Life Size Barbie and still to this day one of her fondest childhood memories is talking about how she truly believed people couldn't tell the difference when they wore the same outfit.

  21. Oh, that doll would never come out of the kid's bedroom in my house. Creepy. but the matching dresses are adorable!

  22. If she ever winks at you, you have my permission to end her plastic doll life.

  23. This is Stephen King material, I swear.

  24. That doll is kinda creepy - even without the evil eyebrows! Another reason I'm glad to have had a boy - no creepy dolls. Although there was this talking teddy bear.....

  25. Dolls are creepy to begin with. Large, life size dolls would have me sleeping with one eye open. *Shudder*

  26. Life-size dolls = worst idea ever. I would totally be freaked out by that thing. I would leave a note on the fridge to remind myself to ALWAYS put her in the closet at night!

  27. Life-sized dolls are totally creepy. Maybe you can tell your daughter she wandered off on her own, and you can put her in the shed or something.

  28. Looks like Rapunzul needs a good eyebrow waxing. Totally creeeeeepy.

  29. Giant dolls are super creepy!!

  30. You're not alone, I'd be spooked too. No such doll for Lola!

  31. I am laughing so hard right now! I have a big "walking" doll that always freaked out my boys... she "stared" at them. Recently, she has begun to frighten me. I find myself turning her face to the wall.

As I was writing this I looked over my shoulder, and There She Is! I forgot I brought her into my front room... or did I?

By the way, the creepiest "girl doll" show I ever saw was an old Twilight Zone... I have to go stand Dolly in the corner now...

    ReplyDelete
  32. I just want to agree with Nita Jo, the creepiest doll show, Talking Tina from the original Twilight Zone.

    Talking dolls, (shiver)

  33. Dolls are totally creepy, but life size ones? Evil.

  34. I have the exact same irrational fear when it comes to dolls. It doesn't help that I didn't treat my dolls very nice when I was little either. I'm pretty sure that's why I ended up with three boys. The dolls never forgave me.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Yeah, that would freak me out. I'd make sure Natalie brings it up to her room when she goes to bed!

    ReplyDelete
  36. That doll would spook me too! I'm now thankful (again) that I had boys!

  37. I never understood the attraction some kids had for those huge dolls! Totally creepy! Even Bella didn't want it (amazingly!!!), and was totally freaked out just by the box in the store.

So your reaction is perfectly normal!

  38. Dolls freak me out. My nana tried to get me to collect porcelain dolls when I was young -shudders. And my mom bought me a clown doll sitting on a swing like 3 years ago. She's the worst gift giver ever

    ReplyDelete
  39. Just wait until she's naked, bald, and facedown on the floor of your daughter's closet, which is where they all eventually end up.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I totally understand...My daughter had a couple American girl dolls...and we had to get rid of them. She heard them talking to her ( did too, I have to admit). They are gone - someone else's problem now...

    ReplyDelete
  41. That would creep me out too! I would always feel like it was watching me.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Yikes, it looks like it's as tall as your daughter! It definitely looks possessed!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Rapunzel is giving you the stink eye. Maybe just rip her face off?

    ReplyDelete
  44. Yeah that doll would probably creep me out, too! I'd at least have to turn her so she wasn't looking right at me!

    ReplyDelete
  45. One could have a lot of fun with that doll.

  46. Ugh. *shivers*

My daughter is 14 months old. Any tips on avoiding this fate?

  47. She IS creepy. And it's too bad she's so large that she's nearly impossible to "lose" :(

  48. Ha! Dolls are totally creepy. You know what else is creepy? When you have a cardboard cut out of Justin Timberlake and you keep on putting him in odd places (bathroom, closet, under covers)to scare the crap out of your family... Ah. Memories.

  49. So creepy! When Alexa was first born Ava had this baby doll that looked just like Alexa. Same size, same hair fuzz. It was so weird & I was always getting freaked out cause i'd have that split second thought of, I could have sworn my newborn baby was sleeping upstairs. How did she get down here?!

  50. That doll is indeed creepy! Am catching up on your blog posts.....love every one! You do indeed entertain me. Keep it up!
