It’s back.
It’s finally back.
After waiting many, many months it has returned.
The Shamrock Shake.
And yes, it warrants being capitalized.
I waited patiently for it.
Actually, wait, no, not patiently. See, McDonalds had promised that they’d have The Shamrock Shake on February 17th. My friend even went out to get us one.
Guess what?
There were no Shamrock Shakes on the 17th. In fact, McDonalds seemed confused on what my friend was even asking from them.
So we had to wait.
And wait.
I’m being dramatic. We didn’t have to wait that long.
By Monday, The Shamrock Shakes were on the menu. When I went to collect my delicious green treat, I said to the worker, “Isn’t it exciting that these are back?”
“Huh?” he blinked at me.
“The Shamrock Shakes. Isn’t it exciting that these are—” He continued to stare blankly at me. “Never mind.”
My Shamrock Shake was amazing. If you’ve never tried one, you must. Unless you don’t like minty goodness. In which case, you’re a weirdo.
I’m kidding. (Sort of.)
So, have you had a Shamrock Shake yet?

But what is it made of?!
ReplyDeleteI have never had one, after this I'll have to try one.
ReplyDeleteAnd @ The Boob Nazi, I think it's mint flavored. :)
I have never had a shamrock shake--but I do like minty goodness, so I may have to try one. I just stopped by from SITS to say hello. I hope you find the time do return the visit!
ReplyDeleteI had my first one last year and need to go get my one for this year, I shouldn't but I will!
ReplyDeleteYum! I know a LOT of people who wait for these every year. I'm surprised the McD's dude doesn't realize that he hold the keys to a treasure!
ReplyDeleteI've never had one but it's on my to do list now! I've heard SO many people raving about them lately.
ReplyDeleteI'm shocked that all these commentors have never had one of these delicious shakes. Bizzarro!!
ReplyDeleteHowever, much as I also love these shakes, the last time I had one, I mostly had to stop on the side of the road and throw it all up. Therefore....tragically, I never get Shamrock Shakes anymore. It's a travesty really. SO, you just enjoy it for both of us. K? K!
Mmmmmmmm Yes I need to have one! Thanks for the reminder! Love them too!
ReplyDeletei saw them on the menu yesterday but i was strong and didn't get one. yet
ReplyDeleteI have not but I must. Soon!
ReplyDeleteAt least it has a top, makes it harder for you to spill.
ReplyDeleteI've never felt the urge to try one but this years different. Prego thinks that looks very delish and will probably make her husband take her there to get one and then blame it on the baby and the baby's needs...
ReplyDeleteGuess I need to make a McDonald's stop this morning!
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of it, but I find it funny that the people who work there didn't know either. Obviously clock punchers. I'll have to give it a try.
ReplyDeleteWhy have I never heard of a shamrock shake before?!? Minty goodness? Yes please!
ReplyDeleteP.S. I love your blog. I discovered it just recently and I'm now a daily follower.
I don't do green.
ReplyDeleteBut I'll take your word for it.
Boy oh boy! Do I love me so me Shamrock Shake! Maybe McDonald's will have to make it to the after school snack list today!
ReplyDeleteDo you know that i have never had one before. Never.
ReplyDeleteOh my god, no way!!! I have never heard of this before, do they have this in Utah??? I must find out!
ReplyDeletei can't even fathom putting my lips on that. it's green. can't do it.
ReplyDeleteWhat is this madness? I've never heard of such a thing. I feel cheated. I must do some recon or something to see if our McDonalds has such minty deliciousness. Thanks for spreading the word.
ReplyDeleteI am a die hard fan of minty goodness. On. It.
ReplyDeleteI have never tried one (I'm one of THOSE people who are not huge fans of minty deliciousness unless it's white chocolate peppermint fudge) but I'm not surprised the McD's dude didn't know about it/wasn't excited about it.
ReplyDeleteI am so very happy that the Dairy Queen is once again open in my town. I live in a place where they shut down for winter. The opening of the DQ is a SURE sign that spring is on the way. Even if Mother Nature begs to differ!
Yum. I remember loving those as a kid. I don't think they do them here in NZ though. Disappointing.
ReplyDeleteLOVE them! Will be heading to McD's tomorrow for minty goodness.
ReplyDeleteI have. My sister brought me some minty deliciousness as soon as it was put back on the menu. I've got good sister.
ReplyDeleteI had a shamrock shake like 9 years ago. I LOVED IT. Too much. it is now forbidden for me. *cry*
ReplyDeletealthough i fear for my personal safety saying this-
ReplyDeletewhat's so special about it? isn't it just a mint milkshake?
i've obviously never had one or i would be under it's captivating spell. i guess. lol.
As delicious as I'm sure that would be, I'm pretty sure my throat closing up after 5 seconds would not be so much fun. I hate that i'm allergic to peppermint!!
ReplyDeleteSo the guy at work wore shorts the other day. I have always said that he is better than the groudhog at predicting spring.
ReplyDeleteConclusion?
Shamrock Shakes + Sight of His Knees = NO MORE SNOW!!!
And now I MUST have one. :)
I don't think we have those in Japan. The foolish McDonald's people!
ReplyDeleteWell it's green and I'm Irish and it is getting close to the Holiest of Holy days on the Irish calender soooo, it's settled then, I have to get one.
ReplyDeleteI've never tried one. It looks interesting!
ReplyDeleteI haven't had the Shamrock Shake, but I can relate to your excitement. I get that excited about the eggnogg shakes at Jack in the Box every Christmas. We have a tradition in my family where we all go together to get the Christmas tree and on the way home get eggnogg shakes
ReplyDeleteIs it wrong that I want to swim in it? If it is, I don't want to be right.
ReplyDeleteDamn..... you just me feel weird, since I'm not a fan of minty drinks. Sigh, and stuff. ;)
ReplyDeleteSounds delicious. . . Is it as good as a Thin Mint Blizzard? That is a true test.
ReplyDeleteI have never HEARD of that but I will definitely go ask about it!
ReplyDeleteA mint shake??? Seriously? I guess I will have to put this under the heading, "Things I Don't Miss About The States".
ReplyDeleteBut that just leaves more for you, right?? I'm such a giver...
Sounds & look so yummy-licious!!! but... the McD here don't offer it. :(
ReplyDeleteNo. I am thinking they do not have them in our neck of the woods. Have one for me because I am not a weirdo.
ReplyDeleteLIsaDay
All this talk of the Shamrock Shake reminds me of a bunch of Leprechauns at the end of the rainbow with their pots of gold...er...minty shake goodness! :)
ReplyDeleteI was born on St. Patrick's Day, and my mother had a Shamrock Shake on the way to the hospital; she's still very proud of the fact that she didn't get sick afterward... I'm nearly 37!
ReplyDeleteNot a fan of mint. Guess I'm weird (sort of).
ReplyDeleteActually, I'm not a fan of McDonald's shakes. Everytime I order a (boring) vanilla, it tastes like little strawberries swam around in it. I like strawberries; I don't like strawberries sneaking into my vanilla when no one is looking.
Hmm... I've never heard of the Shamrock Shake (but I lead a pretty sheltered life of no TV, therefore no commercials - lol).
ReplyDeleteThanks for the recommendation - I might stop in there and try one! :D
I saw that on the menu on Friday. What does it taste like? I should probably just go get one, right?
ReplyDeleteThey're back? Hooray! Guess what I'm having for lunch...
