Things That Make Me Go Huh?

The world is a crazy place. Sometimes I just have to pause, take a picture, and go huh?

The following things have been baffling me lately.

US Weekly claims these patterned pants are in style. I honestly thought when I got to that page that they were making fun of them. But no. They seriously were like, “This is the style!” I’m sorry, but you’ll never catch me in patterned pants. It looks like a person is walking out in curtains. Or a carpet.

I know I shouldn’t watch Dance Moms. (It airs on Lifetime on Tuesdays.) But I can’t look away. Last week the dance teacher, a cranky, just-basically-sits-on-the-side-and-barks-orders lady, had the girls (9 and 10 year olds) appear as if they were nude for some showgirl performance. When the girls came out the judges were clearly uncomfortable and the girls didn’t even place in the competition.

I posted this picture on a past Things That Make Me Go Huh post. I’m re-posted it because it still makes me go huh. Seriously. What’s going on with Kirk’s chest? (This is from Gilmore Girls. Great show.)

How can Natalie be turning 5 next week? Wasn’t she JUST a baby?

  1. I love Gilmore Girls so much, one of the best shows ever, and my 'baby' turns 7 this month so I know exactly what you mean.

  2. Probably showing my age here, but when I was in middle school I had jeans with flowers on them....and they glowed in the dark and I loved them...

I have seen ads for Dance Moms, but can't watch it.

  3. Nope. No one here in the Midwest is wearing patterned jeans. Not even us goofy chubby middle age ladies with no taste.

  4. Those jeans are hideous! I haven't seen anyone wearing them around here, which is good because it would cause me to point and laugh and that usually gets me in trouble. But still, huh?

I see commercials for Dance Moms but haven't taken the time to watch it, I do watch the Beauty Contest one on occasion and shake my head, a lot.

Aw your little Natalie is growing up so fast!

  5. Dance Moms happens in Pittsburgh. My daughter is in dance. Her old teacher "sounded" like the lady on dance moms. I can't watch that show.

Patterned pants? They did that in the 70's. . . it was groovy. The feathers that my daughter put in her hair just three months ago (they were "in") are already out of style. These too shall pass.

    5. . . so cute!

  7. I'm not into patterned pants at all. I'm one of those people who laugh at people in patterned pants.
Natalie was an adorable baby! I hate that they all grow up so fast.

  8. Don't patterned pants just make cellulite look magnified? Yeah,I want every dimple on my flat butt showing. No thanks! I don't think so! I will stick with boot cuts and anyone that takes issue with that can kiss those dimples on my flat butt!

  9. Ugh, patterned pants?? Really?? Not in style. I think sometimes they sit in the room and think, "How can we laugh at people?" or "How gullible are people?"

  11. I may or may not have been known to wear patterned pants a time or two in my life. But not lately.

Those dance and pageant moms are out of their ever-lovin' minds! I can't stomach those shows for more than a few minutes.

What a cute old pic of Natalie. She is such a cutie patootie! :)

  12. Is it possible that your math is wrong, because I can't believe Natalie will be five either!! Wow. She's just as cute as ever, too. :)

And pattered jeans. No. Just no.

  13. Surely someone is having a laugh with the patterned jeans. My daughter is supposedly 6 and yet I swear she was born yesterday.

Yeah, what is up with that chest?

  16. Yeah....sigh...the "HIP" girls at work have been wearing the patterned pants. I say let them (mostly because it makes them look super STUPID)

  17. I had some bright flowered pants in the early 70s, and I thought they were so pretty. But then, everything in those days had flowers and stripes and paisley and whatnot. Nope, not going back to that!

  18. I could never wear those jeans....so ugly! Happy early Birthday Natalie! Wow 5 already!

  19. I had the same thought about the patterned jeans. I mean, really? And Kirk! What IS going on with Kirk? I adore the Gilmore Girls. It made my day yesterday when I turned on the TV and it was on. My son just turned 5 last week. Crazy how fast it goes.

BTW - thanks so much for visiting my blog!

  22. I've never watched Gilmore Girls. Or that dancing show. Sometimes being overseas has it's benefits, lol!

  23. I try to stay trendy but my rule is that I won't wear anything I would regret once it goes out of style. So, no patterned pants for me :)

  24. I totally agree with the patterned pants confusion. I actually stared at some in another magazine spread the other day, wondering if I could like them. Nope.

  25. I wore patterned pants back in the 80s at school, that style ain't new!

  26. Natalie smiles exactly the same way, with the twisted tongue now!! How beautiful she was, is, and will always be.

  27. I remember that episode of Gilmore Girls. I was so confused by his chest. Like, seriously... why did they think it was okay to let him go shirtless? Couldn't anyone better have been in that scene.

  28. Sometimes I wonder who really wears those "latest" fashions clothes. I only see them in magazines.I don't watch "Gilmore Girls" but that is one sorry chest right there. LOL. And your little Natalie is so adorable! They just grow up too fast.
