It never fails.
Whenever I go somewhere, I always see a motorcyclist without his or her helmet.
I don’t understand why.
Do they not care what will happen if they get injured?
To me it’s like they’re saying, “Hey, I don’t care if my brains get splattered all over the road.”
I really don’t get it.
Military members MUST wear helmets and protective gear.
I wish ALL motorcyclists would follow the rule. They might think they will never get hurt but one never knows. A car could accidentally smack into them and then what? They could lose control and roll across the street.
If you know a motorcyclist or are one, please wear your helmet. It might be drastically hot outside. It might not look cool to you. But it’ll probably save your life.

As motorcycle owners, that is our biggest pet peeve EVER!!! I also don't think a lot of military members (well Marine Corps anyways) realize that if you are killed on your motorcycle without your PPE (helmet, long pants, long sleeves, AND boots), your loved ones don't receive your SGLI!! If you're gonna be selfish and be irresponsible, at least make sure your loved ones are going to be taken care of if something were to happen to you because of your stupidity! AHH...rant over.
ReplyDeleteRock on! That's all I can say. Feel free to link over to my personal opinion of all things involving riding.
ReplyDeleteI ride my own motorcycle and it peeves me when other riders lack common sense.

Years ago before I ever met my brother-in-law, he wrecked his motorcycle. He still has his helmet that got cracked in half and if it wasn't for that helmet, would have been dead. Some states it's the law that they have to wear their helmet.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I seriously wonder if they do it to make sure they die if they crash.. Because I really don't see any other reason as to why they wouldn't wear it.. The ones that swerve in and out of traffic and between lanes annoy me too..
ReplyDeleteCould not agree with you more! I am not a motorcycle fan and definitely not a fan of no helmets!-Ashley
ReplyDeleteTotally crazy. Even when I see people zipping around on bicycles with no helmets, I think that's just nuts. I do live in a city. It's not NYC but there are tons of accidents.
ReplyDeleteI hate motorcyclists with no helmets!! In IL you don't have to wear one which to me is insane. Not only does it make me MORE nervous to drive around you but if you survive the crash that you will inevitably get into, you will likely have brain damage and/or in need of ambulance/hospital services. This puts a burden on the rest of us not just through the medical system, but also a loss of productivity in the workforce.
ReplyDeleteThat makes me crazy too and I'm automatically nervous being anywhere near them on the road. Actually I'm nervous about them with or without helmets.
ReplyDeleteStopping by to say hello! Thanks for checking out my blog too. :)
ReplyDeleteHere in Vegas the scooter riders aren't required to wear them - those guys that can't do more than 35 yet take over lanes when other traffic is doing 50. And then you find them holding a cell phone up to their ear while driving - can't get much worse. (there is one I come upon every morning on my way to work, putting along talking on his phone)
ReplyDeleteWell said! Maybe some people don't care about what happens to themselves, but they could at least have some respect for the people who will have to clean up the mess after an accident!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree! I guess there aren't helmet laws here and it drives me crazy. I actually had a friend who posted a picture of her and her husband on a motorcycle and someone commented that she was missing her helmet. she replied that it doesn't help her look good or something like that and the other person said she could break her head open. her reply was she could also break her head open in the shower. omg.
ReplyDeleteThis makes me so angry!!! In Utah there is no state law to wear a helmet and I'm surprised by how many people don't! I thought it was common sense to not want to smash your head, not something people did to avoid a ticket.
ReplyDeleteIt makes me crazy. I grew up in a state that has a helmet law, but lived for a time in one that didn't and I cannot tell you the number of unspeakable things I've seen on the highway in THAT state. An old friend got pulled over for not wearing his seatbelt and he said to the officer, "You are going to give me a ticket for not wearing a seatbelt inside a CAR in a state wear I don't need a helmet on a MOTORCYCLE?" The officer let him go!
ReplyDeleteAmen. I'm a nurse at a level one trauma center, and trust me, helmets are a good idea! So are seat belts. And despite living in a state with helmet laws, an awful lot of people still go without them.
