Popular Things That Other People Like, But I Don't

I've noticed that I don't seem to care for a lot of the things that people seem to love.

It's okay though. I like that we're all different. I'd be bored to tears if everyone liked what I liked.

Here are some popular things that people seem to enjoy, but I don't.

--Harry Potter. I know. I tried. Seriously, I tried. But wizards just don't excite me. I have some friends that are very appalled by this.

--Coffee. Love the smell. Hate the taste.

--Seinfeld. Again. I tried. I watched several episodes and would think, "Where's the funny bits?" and, "Hey, that dude was in Problem Child."

--Seafood. Don't like the smell. Don't like the taste.

--Mushrooms. They are FUNGUS. No, thank you. I still can't believe that my husband will happily stuff fungus in his mouth, yet he doesn't like pot roast.

--Running. It seems everyone around me wants to do these color runs or fun runs (which makes me laugh, because running is not fun.) They post pictures of themselves covered in mud from a mud run and I'm thinking, "WHY?" I know some are for charities, which is awesome, but I'll just donate to said charity. I will not run, get muddy, or get color blasted on me.

--Adam Levine. He does nothing for me. His music hurts my ears.

--Saying the world "selfie." I'll never like it. Never. It really is okay to post a photo of yourself and not go, "Selfie!" And I see there's a new show starting this fall called Selfie. I'll pass, just because of the title.

--Singing competition shows. Yawn. Boring. They waste too much quality air time on channels. I hope the craze for these dies down so we can get some proper TV shows.

--Wearing high heels. I only wear them for special occasions. I'd never just put them on for fun or for running errands.

--Calling people "preggo" or "preggers" when they are pregnant. Prego is a kind of spaghetti sauce and preggers makes me want to claw my ears off. It's pregnant. Or with child. Or in the family way. Why do Americans insist on making words so cutesy? (See: Selfie.)

So are there any popular things that YOU don't like?

  1. Mushrooms and seafood are amazing!!! I'll take yours! *wink*

Agree with the rest of the list.

I don't get Twitter. Facebook is bad enough, but what's the point of Twitter??? It's for twits, so therefore not for me!

  2. Mine is horror movies! My friends love them and I can't seem to figure out why...

They either scare the crap out of me or gross me out from all the blood and guts! Can we not just kick it with a good comedy??

  3. I can't bring myself to take a selfie. I don't particularly like twitter, even though I'm no it. Don't like erotica, because it just gets boring. Other than that, I'm a total bandwagonner. *shrugs*:)

  8. I don't like any of these things either. My husband took me to see one of the Harry Potter movies that came out when we first got married and I actually fell asleep in the theater--the only time I've ever slept in the theater. Of course, it probably helped that I had no idea what was going on since I hadn't seen any of the previous ones.

  9. I agree with you on the mushrooms and the seafood. My poor husband hardly ever gets seafood because I don't like it and I don't cook it. Shows like "The Following" and "Dexter" are on my list. Just don't get them, and they leave me feeling...dark. Funny post! Have a great one!

  10. I don't like mushrooms or seafood. I don't get reality shows. I also never got the appeal of 50 Shades.

  11. I totally agree on the running part! I got some athletic shoes for my birthday so I could be more active, and I told the guy I am NOT planning to run a marathon. So don't put me in shoes made for a marathon!

  12. I dislike a lot of these things, too! I loved the first Harry Potter book, but it got too action-y for me after that.

On another note--did you do Plexus Slim? They had the booth next to me at a carnival Saturday and they did their salespitch. It's a little pricey, though. Worth it if it can take off these last 10 pounds...

  13. We have so much in common!
I HATE seafood. Mushrooms gross me out. I can't wear high heels. I'm not a runner, nor do I see myself becoming one. I never drink coffee (neither does my husband). I gave up on American Idol a while back and don't watch other shows like it. Same for dancing competitions. My kids are getting into Harry Potter. I saw a few of the movies and then gave up. Don't see the big deal about Adam Levine either. I disagree on Seinfeld, but I know you love Frozen and I was not impressed with it.
My others are: Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, anything vampire related, 50 Shades of Grey, most of today's comedy movies, Avengers and X-Men (or any other superhero stuff), bacon in everything (and not just because I keep Kosher)...the list goes on!

Anyway, great post! I had fun reading it. :)

  14. No Harry Potter?! SAY IT AIN'T SO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *sob*

  15. HA HA HA! I thought I was the only non-Harry Potter person. Also, Twilight. Don't get that. And 50 Shades of Gray (or is it Grey?). Not for me.-Ashley

  16. I love the smell of coffee more than the taste, but I do enjoy drinking it from time to time. And mushrooms! Thank you! I was beginning to think I was the only one who couldn't stand them!

    ReplyDelete
  17. I don't like Froyo!! (or ice cream) But I will eat your seafood and mushrooms after I run:)

    ReplyDelete
  18. I've never liked coffee either and have only recently begun to drink tea here and there.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I don't get Frozen, Tangled was so much better! And I HATE the word "preggo". And when people call their friends a B****, why? That's mean!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Except for seafood (LOVE!) I could have written this list. No joke.
Oh, I have one to add, too. Have you heard this new thing people are saying, "I love me some him" or "I miss me some her". WHY? Just say I love him or I miss her....there's even a song where he says "I've been missing me some you" and it makes me want to slap the singer.

  21. I feel the same with with Harry Potter. I tried so hard to read the books. I think the first book took me close to a year to read. I just could not get into it. I guess it is not for everyone :)

    ReplyDelete
  22. Like you I like the smell of coffee but hate the taste of it. Don't know what the big fuss about reality shows American idol dancing with the stars. I also don't care for frozen or tangled harry potter the twilight or hobbit series. Good entry

  23. I hate it when women wear short shorts with high heels. That is just SO wrong in my opinion.

I am not saying a word to you about Harry Potter. MMHM! *glare*

NO way is there a show called Selfie coming out? OH NO. Let it flop.

    Hate coffee too.

  24. I also do not get homeschooling and the Bratayley family on YouTube where they have to put their whole aspect of their lives everyday and then they actually do a public meet&greet as if they are some sort of celebrity. Check them out and you will see what I am talking about. I mean this Bratayley family went as far to even get fan mail. Seriously that even toy companies such as zylie stuffed toys have sent them free stuff to them. Crazy isn't it?

  25. I hate, hate, hate "prego" and "preggers." So much! And I hate "selfie". And I don't like Seinfeld either.
I do love coffee, and I want some right now, in fact.

  26. I'm actually with you on a lot of these things. Harry potter? Don't get it. Seafood, running, mushrooms, kill me now. Adam Levine? Ew. Prego? Yeah, it is a sauce. But coffee, heels and seinfield? Those are my homies. Some popular things I don't like include American Idol and Tom Hanks (will he PLEASE just flop 1 movie?

    ReplyDelete
  27. I agree with you 100% on the singing shows. A chick from my home town was on Idol (Jess something) and I still didnt watch, I really dont care.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Haha. I agree on some, not so much on others. But as you said, that's what make the world go round. I keep trying to explain that to my kids! Not everyone needs or should like the same things. Pass your seafood over, please! I do like to run, but I'm not into the whole mud, or color thing. I'd rather just run. Getting sweaty is enough for me. I don't need to run through a pond, go through electrical wires or anything else. :)

    ReplyDelete
  29. I also hate Harry Potter. I don't get the hype.

And running. Never. You will never find me running.

I hate heels. I get pissed when I have to wear them for something.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I agree with most of those! I do like seafood, and I do like running. I used to hate running until I decided to pay a lot of money for a half marathon. Then I fell in love with it.

    ReplyDelete
  31. It's funny - but I hated coffee when I was younger. just the smell would almost make me sick. but then when I started working in an office -- suddenly it was the thing to do to go grab a coffee. it slowly grew on me --- which means over 17 years I have finally weaned myself down to 2 sugar packets in a medium cup. :)

Adam Levine is nice to look at -- I don't always like the voice though.
And my children gave me very little choice regarding Mr Potter.

  32. Love love seafood and mushrooms, if they are cooked.
Not a fan of running either.
    Selfie is dumb
Is it ok I'm in Starbucks as I write this. :)

  33. I'm with you on the high heels, coffee, and Seinfeld.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Drop Dead Fred is one of my all time favorite movies!! It's the best!!

    ReplyDelete
  35. I'm with you on the whole Harry Potter craze and selfies and preggers sounds so immature to me. But um yeah, I'm a huge Seinfeld fan!

    ReplyDelete
  36. I can't live without coffee :). I don't know how I survived 2 pregnancies without it, hehe. Things that are popular that I don't like: Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, trashy reality shows, running, cross fit, Paleo

    ReplyDelete
  37. Really? No Harry? And no coffee?

I love mushrooms. But they have to be cooked right.

SO with you on Seinfield, singing competitions, heels, and running.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I'm totally with you on some of these but I'm sorry you are missing out on mushrooms & seafood. Actually, it is okay- it leaves more for me! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  39. I don't drink coffee or watch reality shows. But I do like Harry Potter and mushrooms, not necessarily together!

    ReplyDelete
  40. LOL! Well there are a few things on your list that I like, but I do not like "preggo" either. Oh and running is highly overrated - I don' like it either. The other thing for me is Game of Thrones - I am not a fan...there I said it. Thanks for the intriguing post!

  42. You're not the only one! I found myself nodding in agreement to ALL of these! Especially the high heels thing. No thank you. :) (Stopping in from the SITS Girls link-up.)

  43. I adore Harry Potter, but I'm with you. Coffee smells great, but just tastes nasty. I can manage it with lots of cream & sugar, but I'll never love it. And I totally don't get the whole running craze. If you ever see me running, better look for someone with a bloody knife chasing me! #SITSSharefest
